  1. hello, looking some advice. Have noticed that the indicator sounder has started to sound at random intervals while i am driving, but havent touched it. Sounds like the sounder is mounted behind the hazard warning triangle. Both hazard and individual indicator work as normal when used. Is this a relay issue, or should i just replace the hazard unit for a new one?? Just hope this is not a sign of more severe elctrical gremlins to come. Car is a 2002 octavia est.
  2. having got my 110 tdi back from the dealer (turbo wastegate repair and new boost valve), i am very happy with my new purchase. Plenty of power when needed, and if driven sensibly, nearly 55mpg. I would value opinions on which is best, a tuning box or remap. I can get a tuning box from various ebay shops, all with 100% positive feedback on over 2000 sales each. These range in cost from 85-180, or i can get a remap for 230. Is there a difference, is either likely to cause any damage long term??
  3. got the car back today. Turbo stripped, cleaned, wastegate sorted and a brand new boost valve fitted (even got an oilchange and air filter thrown in as an apology for the delay)...result!! Going like a dream now.hope it lasts.
  4. thankfully i dont have to get my hands dirty on this one, left the car with the dealer on wednesday morning. Didnt look happy but tough, he gave me three months warranty on the motor. He is getting a local firm who do turbo recons and ecu remaps to sort it out, either a repair or replacement. Hoping for a replacement personally, get plenty of use out of a new unit. Hope to hear later this morning as to how its going...
  5. just got the good news from the vw specialist....the wastegate on the turbo is knackered, looking at a rebuild or a new turbo unit. Phoned the dealer i bought it off, who will thankfully stand over it and get it fixed this week.
  6. drove with maf off, turbo not coming in at all. Hoping it is the map sensor. When car is in neutral, i slowly built revs up to the red line, can hear the turbo whistling away as it passes 2000, and climbing, so hears hoping.
  7. have been looking at other threads on this topic. Does cleaning the vanes do the job long term, or is the local vw audi guy going to tell me my turbo is knackered and take my wallet home with him???
  8. hi, just bought a 2002 octavia tdi 110 estate, 77k with full dealer history etc. When driving normally it runs great, but on a few occassions when i have put the foot down, as it reaches about 3500-4000 revs, the power suddenly drops out. The car will continue to drive, and will still do 60-70mph but is just lacking power. There is no black or white smoke, no signs of coughing oil. Is this likely to be a map sensor or faulty boost valve?? Assume this is limp mode, as when i turn off and leave five minutes, car runs normally again. Any advice welcome. Hope to take to local vw/audi specialist tomorrow.
