  1. I had the same notification. My dealer told me it was because of overheating. He didn't specify whether it was the pad or the phone. Anyway, it looks as if they can't fix it, so they're removing the function. It doesn't really bother me. I charge my phone about once a month. Best.
  2. Hi, I have a 1.5 TSI DSG Edition on order. I’m not crazy about the 19” wheels, but I can live with them for summer use. Because I drive on the continent each winter, I swap out my Yeti’s 225 50 R17 summers with 215 60 R16 winters on steel wheels. The tyres - Dunlop Wintersport 4 - still have plenty of meat on them. The accessories pdf for the Karoq lists two 16” alloy wheels (Castor and Nanuq). And the tyre sites list steel wheels and 215 60 R16s as a Karoq Winter option. Although it seems counter-intuitive, the circumference comes out near-identical to 235 40 R19. Does anybody know if my current 16” steel wheels/winters will therefore be a straight swap for the Karoq 19” (I’m thinking of stud holes, for instance). I couldn’t be that lucky, could I?
  3. Thanks Vadimo, Headinawayoffski and London Jock for replying to my enquiry. Sounds like my timing was a little off - not for the first time. Maybe at 10% they were testing the market to see where they could afford to pitch discounts. That phase could well have already ended. I agree the dealers always win, but on this occasion one of the guys gave me a trade in price before he told me what he could offer on a cash sale. After that the conversation became energetic but remained good humoured. I kind of like the dealership. I suspect the Karoq would be a better fit for me, but I think my next step is an Ateca test drive. Maybe I'll have to hold on to the Yeti (not Yet, as in my first post on this thread)* for another year or so. Best regards to all. *Is there a way of editing posts? My howlers are always invisible to me until I go back to them later. Then I want to correct them of course.
  4. Hi, I decided to test the water for swapping out my beloved Yet because I want to get a new car delivered around March/April time. I went to my local dealer and he offered me (admittedly not for the 4X4) just 300 quid discount. I don't suppose you'd tell me where you got your deal? I'm now thinking of casting my net further out. The 1.4 Ateca is looking prettier and prettier, and I'm even considering a Prius. The dealers in both those franchises were happy to talk about end of year targets and commensurate discounts - hence their more profound beauty in my beholder's eye. TIA.
  5. Okay, I guess there's no point me worrying about it either. :peek: I'll just get a set of 215/60/R16s. Thanks for replying.
  6. Yes, I made a mistake on the middle figure (After I edited the post twice - grrr). The list should read as follows: 205/55/R16 = Speedometer reading 3.8% too fast. 215/60/R16 Speedometer reading 1.2% too slow. These are the approved sizes mentioned in the Skoda literature. And finally: 205/60/R16 = Speedometer reading 0.7% too fast. In another post, member 90000 says the 215/60/R16s are what he settled on after finding the 205/55/R16s unacceptable - but it's the 205/60/R16 size I'm interested in because it seems to get closest to the circumference of the original wheels. I just wondered if there could be some technical reason why this size shouldn't get approval, or whether the sizes mentioned in the literature are just recommendations.
  7. I have some all-weather tyres (Bridgestone A001) retrieved from my last vehicle. I thought they were pretty good and I was intending to run them on my Yeti on some steel wheels which were thrown in as part of the purchase deal. Unfortunately, they're 205/55/R16, which probably makes them less than ideal as I don't intend to use them with snow chains. Accordingly, I've been thinking about sending them to eBay and getting a set of bigger tyres. The literature I've seen quotes the only other valid Yeti (16 inch) size as being 215/60/R16. However, I notice that Tristar 1011 has ordered (direct from Skoda, I believe) 205/60/R16. According to the Tyre Size Calculator: 205/55/R16 = Speedometer reading 3.8% too fast. My tyre fitter isn't keen on this scale of adjustment, but they are the correct size if one intends to use snow chains. 215/55/R16 = Speedometer reading 1.2% too slow. Acceptable. 205/60/R16 = Speedometer reading 0.7% too fast. Of the three this seems to yield the nearest approximation to the circumference of the 17 inch wheels with 225/50 tyres. Before I commit to another purchase, could anyone shed light on why 205/60/R16s don't appear in the Skoda literature? Thanks.
  8. Sorry, please refer to post below. I can't figure out how to take out this unwanted version.
  9. Hi, First time poster. Hello everybody. Static discharge is the bane of my motoring life; something I've experienced with most of the cars I've owned. When it became a true annoyance with a Renault Laguna, I had an anti-static strip fitted. This was more or less useless because it was bolted to the underside of the car and was designed to be in continuous contact with the road. It also therefore provided a continuous rumbling sound almost as annoying as the shocks. After a couple of weeks it wore away to the point where it no longer made road contact. Naturally, from that time on it had no effect. The best solution turned out to be something called a statpad, which is a nondescript pad of material on a keyring. When I get out of the car, I touch it to some exposed metal (i.e. the door handle key entry) before I touch anything else, and it somehow discharges all the static buildup without giving me a jolt. I have no idea what it's made of, but long ago I tried it in darkness and saw a slight frizzle of charge running from the keyhole to the pad, so I'm convinced it doesn't just provide a placebo effect. I bought two of these some years ago, but haven't seen them in the same form since; however, you can still find such things in more high-tech form on e-Bay. Just run a search for 'anti static keyring'. Hope that helps. P.s. Had my Yeti for about seven weeks now and I'm very pleased with it. I'll be taking it in this week for the free one-month checkup provided by my dealership. I look forward to spending more time on these boards. The information I gleaned here informed my purchase. So thanks to everyone for helping!
