  1. it's a common fault..on audi....vw etc that's the part the stops working or may work sometimes..... all other problems will usually come up on a scan [vag com or dealer]..this one does'nt we rang the dutch supplier of that part and he indicated this by his comments....and they are supplying many of these to reconditioners. reconditioners clean up the compressor and replace this part. if you take old one out and replace new part quickly after letting gas out you could regas it yourself with diy kit without vaccum this is my experience
  2. i have a genuine ross tech micro can cable for sale any offers?? VCDS License with Micro-CAN Interface: Ross-Tech Store i have deserted the cause and gone over to toyota i can put it on ebay for bidding also or buy it now if there is interest!!
  3. noise sounds like a different problem........ a friend of mine ordered from spanish....they're on holidays he says i'll report back when he receives it.. the dutch site is easier..they speak english...but where out of stock..but will have some soon
  4. could'nt tell you that myself...about vag com on the aircon a friend of mine ordered a part from spain with great diffulty...[i from barcelona...] so i'll see if it arrives...... what part of country you in?
  5. as mentioned above all that need to be done now is remove old one it is only held in with circlip and can be removed with compressor in place it is tricky and you need circlip pliers with angle[cheap] but with patience all should be ok gas should probably have been removed first either by pressing cycle type valves..or vac equipment[see friendly a/c man] oil in compressor will be ok you won't lose it replace with new one...replace circlip now all you need is a/c man to vacumm the system and regas total cost..150 -200 euro depending on your a/c man it works....believe me easier if you remove undertray...get it from below
  6. those links take you direct....each company seems to have their own numbers.. language is also a problem my ac man's friend speaks spanish so that's where he went
  7. i think does links mentioned might be dodgy try these below Airco Techniek - Zexel regelventiel: DCS17E ZEXEL GOLF V / A3 / Toledo II / Touran Comercial EL TREBO S.C.A - Especialistas en alternadores, motores de arranque y compresores de A/A
  8. compressor faults is common arcoss all vag group range. if it is the compressor ...there is a cure not commonly known. i can be fixed by purchasing a new regulator valve for the compressor for about 60-70 euro plus regassing i wrote a thread recently ...which did'nt seem to get response... which surprised me since the fault is common..and does'nt show on vag com. the internal parts stop working but the solenoid inside still works...hence no fault codes here's the cure http://briskoda.net/octavia-ii/octavia-2-c-compressor-cure/152860/ for all those with octavia a/c problems... my a/c stopped working..no cooling. vag com showed no fault codes.....usually what is recommended is a new compressor @ cost 600 euro plus installation after much research..and help from an a/c friend of mine.;; we discovered that the common problem with these is the compressor regulator valve[n280].. all that needs to be replaced is this part. i have found these are hard to find because the part number is not always the same as vag parts. but they are available at between 55-90 euros each example: Comercial EL TREBO S.C.A - Especialistas en alternadores, motores de arranque y compresores de A/A probably could be found elsewhere all that need to be done now is remove old one it is only held in with circlip and can be removed with compressor in place it is tricky and you need circlip pliers with angle[cheap] but with patience all should be ok gas should probably have been removed first either by pressing cycle type valves..or vac equipment[see friendly a/c man] oil in compressor will be ok you won't lose it replace with new one...replace circlip now all you need is a/c man to vacumm the system and regas total cost..150 -200 euro depending on your a/c man it works....believe me the n280 valve apparently starts to stick after a few years...but still clicks with 12v.. vag com still thinks it's working..hence no fault code..[not vag com fault] the compressor is also known as ZEXEL DCS-17E see also http://www.valeoservice.com/data/mas...4F.pdf?rnd=177 this might be a good sticky hope this helps
  9. for all those with octavia a/c problems... my a/c stopped working..no cooling. vag com showed no fault codes.....usually what is recommended is a new compressor @ cost 600 euro plus installation after much research..and help from an a/c friend of mine.;; we discovered that the common problem with these is the compressor regulator valve[n280].. all that needs to be replaced is this part. i have found these are hard to find because the part number is not always the same as vag parts. but they are available at between 55-90 euros each example: Comercial EL TREBO S.C.A - Especialistas en alternadores, motores de arranque y compresores de A/A probably could be found elsewhere all that need to be done now is remove old one it is only held in with circlip and can be removed with compressor in place it is tricky and you need circlip pliers with angle[cheap] but with patience all should be ok gas should probably have been removed first either by pressing cycle type valves..or vac equipment[see friendly a/c man] oil in compressor will be ok you won't lose it replace with new one...replace circlip now all you need is a/c man to vacumm the system and regas total cost..150 -200 euro depending on your a/c man it works....believe me the n280 valve apparently starts to stick after a few years...but still clicks with 12v.. vag com still thinks it's working..hence no fault code..[not vag com fault] the compressor is also known as ZEXEL DCS-17E see also http://www.valeoservice.com/data/master/webfile/129301826448723BBADF84F.pdf?rnd=177 this might be a good sticky
  10. yea...i'm trying to diagnose my ac not working....there is no voltage going into the compressor...after checking .....so maybe one of the sensors not working....and so it's staying off i thought the diagnostic codes might reveal something... but i can't read them????
  11. :)thanks......now if i could figure what they all mean??
  12. anyone know where climate control diagnostics intructions are,....i've searched and searched...can't find it.....i did see it some months ago?
  13. try this link....http://briskoda.net/diagnostics-vag-com/...might be someone in your area to show you
  14. if the thermosat is dodgy it can have same effect!!!can you vag com it!
  15. those catch cans are a nice job........but make sure actual pipe going into catchcan is not to narrow....mine looked wide enough on outside but the final diameter was quite narrow...which could cause back pressure......i felt i had to widen it......drill it and stick to 3/4 copper inserts instead with adhesive... not using in present car though...just going to atmosphere
  16. i joined two old washing machine hoses and brought the lenght of it down under the car.actually i stuffed it inside the plastic protection covering that goes down the lenght of car each side of exhaust....but it could be done with cable ties......so it ends up 3/4 way toward back of car........i never notice smoke unless i'm stopped and wind pushes it forward out of sight out of mind!
  17. thanks for the offer..might not be worth the cost posting to ireland....but thanks anyway
  18. an old washing machine hose fits perfectly over outlet on top of engine.make sure to look for one with rubber end complete...fits great..only thing is that it is grey......not exactly oem looking
  19. So you don't know what the readings mean for my car!! That answers that! You don't know how to test fan either!! So why get involved in tread?????you offered no suggestions at all [except agree to buy a new compressor and buy a manual....same suggestions i could get at my local dealer] may be real answer is to buy a new car! No thought was expressed here of my holding ross tech in any esteem ...or looking up in any way i simply ask questions what do readings mean...? Anyone know how to test fan? But maybe it's one of those your not going to help as your not getting paid although i am a customer!.... If i email direct to ross tech would i get an answer? Probaly not! Since you don't know the answer :)
  20. nowhere here does it mention how to test fan..which is what i'm asking!!!???? nowhere does it mention here what my readings mean!!!??? although "bornlucky" indicated what the pressure i have means..thanks answer to the above is what's being asked....... if you don't know answers....say i don't know...simple OR DON'T ANSWER saying get a new compressor does not answer above question! if i had any information on this common fault I WOULD GIVE IT OUT VERY CLEARLY AND OUTLINE IN DETAIL. SINCE IT'S NOT COMING FROM PEOPLE WHO KNOW ....SO BE IT! LOOKS LIKE WE ALL HAVE TO BUY FACTORY REPAIR MANUAL OTHERS HAVE HELPED.....BUT THE FAN TEST APPLIES TO OLDER MODELS THAN MINE.....SO I ASKED THE QUESTION..ISN'NT THAT WHAT THE FORUM IS FOR? I STILL WANT TO KNOW HOW TO TEST MY FANS...SO I'LL GO TO ANOTHER THREAD. REMEMBER THE VISION "This site was created to become a resource of information for Skoda owners, and a community of people that share information and assist each other. We expect all users to share that vision."
  21. i IMAGINE[DREAMING AGAIN] everyone on this forum..or any other forum is looking for CHEAP DIAGNOSTIC OR CHEAP FIX.....rather than going to local garage everytime their car throws a cel or any funny noises.. AND BY THE WAY my CHEAPO EBAY CABLE WOULD HAVE given me same info as my NOT SO CHEAP ORIGINAL VAG COM.!! IF you looking at thread i'm also trying to figure out what some of the readings are..and there meaning i BELIEVE this would be helpful for me now and the future...AND FOR ANYONE ON THIS FORUM......SINCE YOU SAY IT'S A COMMON FAULT........SO that everyone one can benefit who reads now and in the future can self help...[a bit CHEAP] IT'S REASONABLE [and cheap] for to ask about fan and testing it's slow speed...because if it's faulty a new compressor could fail again! the problem is I DON'T KNOW HOW TO TEST IT!!! COMPRESSORS ARE AVAILABLE ON EBAY FOR ANYONE LOOKING TO SAVE MONEY[CHEAP]
  22. thanks....thats helpful........i'm learning something at least.....voltage 12v i presume???...vag com i hope can reveal that i'm interested in fans also because i believe if they don't work ...condensor does'nt cool and damage can happen to compressor[so i've read elsewhere] so maybe the initial damage caused by faulty fans....so no point in replacing compressor if fans are faulty i just can't figure out to test fan slow speed
  23. Maybe so...but i'd like to know if the fan [slow speed] is working maybe someone out there knows how i can test it
  24. so are my readouts normal on vag com..........?? anyone know how to check slow fan speed on 2005 octavia? i can get the high speed working by removing sensor on bottom of radiator...but no idea how to test slow fan speed.. [the older models apparently had three wire in same place and you could just bridge them out..but not on new octavia.only 2 wires which turn on high speed once removed]
  25. thanks.......but the truth is painful....... anyone out there with climatronic that would do a readout on their vag com for me just curious as to what the readouts shoud be like... espeicially compressor load.....coolant pressure radiator fan activation please on near the end of searching
