  1. Ive just had this a few days ago, both abs+asr lights came on (dont have tyre pressure check fitted) and stayed on for rest of journey, turning car off and on again reset it and it was good for another 200 miles before occuring again. I had it diagnosed and first it showed up as an intermittant fault with my rear left abs sensor, then 5 mins out the garage the lights came on again. Took it back and now it was reading an intermittant fault on the rear right abs sensor. On investigation I was told that the rear right wheel bearing had died and had thrown metal against the abs sensor, and on the wheel bearing was on its way out on the other side as well. The car does now drive quieter after having both rear bearings replaced, however they werent making the noise I have come to recognise as faulty bearings, it just sounded like loud road noise that I had just assuming was tyre noise.
  2. Hi, just to update, it was the boot lock in the end, dealer replaced it and all is working again.
  3. Someone recommended JBS in chesterfield, in an octavia I post, they`re about 5 mins from where I work so will give them a try. Oldhams a lot further for me. Thanks Robin
  4. Thanks for replys, I think they skipped the caster test, I noticed they skipped though about four or five instructions on the machine when they tested it. I have only owned the car two months (brought it second hand), so I dont know if its been bumped. The whole car is perfect condition though and no sign of any repairs to it, all gaps are symmetrical etc. I will have a look round for another garage that can do the work and post back with results. Thanks Robin
  5. I suffer from a lot of road noise (expected from having bridgestones), after reading a lot on here I went to the local tyre center and had the geometry checked. They said everything is ok and didnt adjust anything. The printout they gave me shows that the front right is a bit out (and in the red) however they say its close enough. Looking through other threads here, most are for sports suspension (mines just a little 1.6fsi with standard suspension) so didnt find a lot of info for non-sports suspension. Does this printout look ok, ie will it being out this much affect road noise? Thanks Robin
  6. Ive just worked along the wire from the bulb back to the first clip (which is as far as I can reach atm, working through the flap for changing rear lights). Had no effect, I will dismantle the carpet again tomorrow and have another go, maybe unplug the connector again and seeing if that makes a difference. Thanks Robin
  7. After reading through a seat forum I decided to check the connectors that are by the cd changer. I have already had the carpet out on that side as I had previously had a leaking washer hose there. I didnt think to check before because the connectors are above the hose, so it wouldnt have dripped onto it. But decided to check to make sure anyway. While removeing the carpet I forgot to disconect the light, so it tugged on the wires slightly, I looked at it and realised the bulb was on. I took the carpet off anyway and fiddled with the connectors, whatever I did (tugging/wiggling wires) the bulb stayed on , it didnt even flicker (until I seaperated the connectors). The connectors were shiney, no corrosion. I put everything back how it was originally and it was still working. I gave the car a wash, then re-opened the boot. The light didnt come one, shut the boot, locked, unlocked the whole car, opend the boot and it had come on again. I decided that it must just be a timeout between unlocking the car and opening the boot, so drove home. Got home, opened the boot, no lights. Tried all combinations of locking and unlocking I could think of, with no effect.
  8. Ive just had the trim off the boot lid, my locking mechanism is spotless, no signs of water. I did have a thought though, I had the car serviced a few weeks ago and had them alter the DRL settings (turned them off as I have tunnel lights and it was using dipped beam as DRL`s), and look at the auto wipers. They said they had trouble with the DRL settings but managed it in the end. Could the boot lights be affected by this, ie. could there be a setting in vag-com or dealer equiv that they could have altered by mistake?
  9. Hi, Did you get any further with this? mine is doing the same, the boot lights dont light up, the bulbs are fine, the interior lights work yet the maxidot knows when the boot is open. Thanks Robin
