  1. Hi, Just read on Autocar new Fab vRS to have the same 178 Bhp engine with DSG box as the Ibiza Cupra. No diesel version. (I am disappointed about that)
  2. Hi, I too always fill up to the brim including the expansion tank. I have several times put 57 litres in my Fabia Vrs. I have exceeded 700 miles on one tank on three occasions. I usually average 53 mpg.But I have exceeded 60 mpg average on one of those 700 miles tanks.
  3. Hi Adam, Good to chat at P-Torque the other day. Pleased you enjoy your remap power. Like you I am concerned about clutch issues. Reading other peoples advice I now try to only really boot it in third and fourth at higher revs,2.5K + Enjoyable though !!!
  4. Hi , Just filled up with 57.17 litres and done 711 miles on one tank. Has anyone exceeded this in a Mk 1 Fabia.? This is no fluke. I have exceeded 700 miles on one tank four times over the last 12 months in my 06 vrs which is totally standard. Well pleased :)
  5. Hi, When I recently changed my vRS tyres to Uniroyals from Bridgestones I also noticed a drop in mpg from 54 to to mpg. Now the tyres have run in mpg has improved to 52 mpg. Maybe it is a combination of new tyres with hot weather with aircon use
  6. Hi, Just checked my fuel records for my 06 BLT vRS. I always fill up completely using expansion tank.I have several times put in about 55 litres. With out exp tank it is around 45litres. The most I have squeezed in is 57.41 litres. Last Sept 08 I covered 732.1 Miles on one tank using 55.3 L getting 58.34 mpg I often drive gently but I do love to give it full throttle to 4K revs in 3rd and 4th sometimes. vRS lover
  7. 38 all round. Have experimented and i prefer higher pressures. It also helps to improve fuel economy.
  8. I have just done 732 miles on one tank of BP ultimate.Used 54.85 litres at an average of 60.76 miles. Computer said 10 miles left when I refilled. It was however a bit of an effort to drive so light footed. Think I will drive a bit faster, I am happy when I get 55 mpg driving harder. Very pleased with my 06 vRS:)
  9. Reckon I am on course to break my record. I aim to break 725.
  10. I can assure everyone that this was accurate. Looking back over my records I have filled my tank with more than 54 litres on four occasions. My previous best was 654 miles then I tried BP ultimate and the result was 58.3 mpg over 709 miles. Certainly 55.3 L was the most I have ever squeezed in. I dont granny it all the time. I often use full throttle for a few seconds to overtake on B roads. vRS owners will know that just a few seconds full throttle in third and fourth to max revs will get you moving ,I just then ease back and stick it into sixth and put on cruise. I love my vRS .I can't ride motorbikes any more due to injuries. My vRS is the next best thing to replace my bikes. (VRS Hopeful because I had to wait over two years to buy my vRS and then crashed my bike the week before I was due to pick it up and then spent three weeks in intensive care with two broken femurs and could not drive the vRS for four months.) ECONOMY WITH GOOD PERFORMANCE -----Fabia vRS
  11. Just filled up with 55.33 litres BP ultimate (filled expansion tank). Fuel consumption was 58.33 MPG my best ever. Now a convert to BP ult. Mostly driven gently on country roads but included 2 hours nose to tail in a safari park. Well pleased .
  12. ChrisGB I have been looking up your old posts on Tyres. Very useful thanks very much. I hope you enjoy the mini when you get it Best wishes Chris
  13. The Fabia has a 45 Litre tank but if the expansion tank is filled it will take 54 litres. I have twice done 653 miles in my vRS on one tank. I usually average 54 mpg. Do not rely on the computer, mine is at least 20 percent optimistic. I only rely on brim to brim calculations. Driving gently I get 60mpg. I have done 20 k miles since new.
  14. I recently had a 20 K service and after driving 1K miles I found that the oil had been overfilled by over 1cm on dipstick. There was a mist of oil all over the engine bay and air filter cover. But not dripping any oil Do you think that I will have sustained engine damage? I cannot get to the dealer for two weeks. Please advise me .
  15. I have an 06 vRS with the hesitation phenomenon. I have not yet gone to a dealer about this. The car is great. I am very happy with my fuel consumption. I was wondering whether anyone who has had the Skoda mod to the EGR has a seen a change in their fuel consumption . Thanks in anticipation of getting feedback
  16. Its not just a young persons car. I bought my first ever new car, an 06 vRS with ESP and cruise when I was 55. I love it.
  17. I ordered ESP and Cruise with mine. I feel that ESP is a fantastic safety device which ought to be standard. I use cruise a lot. In my area there a lots of speed cameras . You can use cruise in 30 MPH areas in 5th Gear. I'm sure it may have saved me a ticket. If you need to slow a touch on the brakes will disengage cruise, likewise a gear downchange. Cruise is well worthwhile.
  18. Pleased with my BLT vRS (completely standard) There is a poor flatspot around 1700 rpm but it does not seem to stutter much. The first thousand miles running in I only averaged 51mpg. I have found the computer to be very inaccurate so these figures are brim to brim. The computer overreads between 10 to 20%. The last 3000 miles I have averaged 54.25 (always on Shell Diesel extra) I am very pleased with it .I love the torque, it just storms up hills . I'm sorry to hear how much other BLT owners have suffered with the dreaded stutter.
  19. Emily- Elizabeth Sorry to see the damage done by you trying to help out . I very much hope that you have not done any structural damage to your vrs. Sorry that i cannot offer any practical advice. Best Wishes Chris
  20. After more than 2 years of reading about how good the vRS is .I have just ordered one in silver with ESP and cruise. Trouble is i have to wait until May or June. I am really excited . :)
  21. Does anyone know if the the PD130 engine is going to be discontinued in 2006 ? I notice that it has been dropped from the Octavia 2 and the new Seat Leon. Will the Fabia vRS continue to be made in 2006.? I would appreciate it if anyone could advise me
