  1. Well on the Irish configurator cornering fogs is 387 euro extra...are you saying that they are charging 387 euro just to activate using vcds...if so I wont spec it and just do it myself...
  2. Anyone know is the turning fog light option is a means to extract more money...A few threads here say its possible using VCDS to enable cornering fog lights...I'm ordering new VRS in two days and wondering if I don't select this options can i just enable it myself using VCDS??
  3. Ordering my VRS this Friday but dealer has told me the cost of the SUN SAFE glass and electric windows on Octavia's has gone up from 805 Euro 1248 euro. Huge jump of 343 euro. He is offering a very good deal on trade in and about 400 off price but I want to be sure he not just clawing it back by telling me price is higher. Irish configurator shows price of 805 euro. All other configurator option prices are wrong but they are only out by 5% (it hasnt been updated with latest price list) so I'm surprised there is such a jump on this option. Anyone here that can confirm this...I know I'm in IRL but I guess if our price went up so did the UK price. Or do electric windows come as standard on UK Octavias?
  4. Thanks Splooter I like that will have to tick the box!! Nice looking car cant wait to get mine only 12 week wait now...
  5. Im about 1 day away from confirming my order for my new VRS and just to get me even more confused have been told by the dealer that front sensors are another option that was missing from the Irish Skoda Configurator site. Now I want to select them but... I know they can sometimes spoil the looks of the front end on some cars... any one got a picture or link so I can see what it looks like on the new VRS? Also can anyone with the Columbus system tell me does the reverse picture on screen change to show a full car with forward and rear sensor indicators on screen like the VW RNS 510 system in a golf I test drove recently... or stay with just rear sensor picture? if it stays just rear then Im assuming the front sensors are only audio warning no input to the Columbus system. Any info on what the sensors look like and how they work and interact with the colombus system appreciated. Cheers.
  6. I also saw on the configuator a week ago that you could change the steering wheel to a three spoke MFSW as an option on DSG but today it has disappeared......It appeared the 5 spoke MFSW was standard on DSG and 3 spoke was optional but they have now made the 3 spoke standard and dumped the 5 spoke. Very confusing and dealers seem lost also. If they have a 3 spoke MFSW why not offer it as option on Manual VRS and use a seperate unit for flappy paddles... bad design if you ask me and must be affecting sales of manuals? This is what it says on standard equipment config for DSG VRS today......"""""'vRS' 3 spoke leather sports steering wheel (multi-function controls for radio and paddle shift - DSG only)""" Maybe we are about to see a new option on the manual VRS also? have they redesigned it with separate paddles perhaps?
  7. Vec does the Bluetooth work through the head unit...by any chance do you have colombus sat nav fitted ...in the Colomubus manual it states that phone button will only work if optional phone extra is installed. If i knew the full colombus phone system worked on screen I could live without MFSW... Also wondering if your bluetooth/phone sys allows you to transfer contacts to the head unit..or is that only with the colomubus head unit? I noted that if I use the configurator and select the DSG version then there are two new options MFSW and Phone install...they are not available on the manual config page. By the way my dealer offered me a great trade in on my TT 1k higher than audi or VW garages and will honor it in 12 weeks when the car arrives if I order soon but dont want to do it until I get to the bottom of this bluetooth/phone issue.
  8. Went and spec'd up my new VRS TDI Manual with every option and from what I can tell you CANT get Multifunction Steering wheel or Bluetooth phone system on the manual is this true? Also is the colombus sat nav system the same as the VW RNS 510 system with all the functions including phone integration? I'm assuming if i can select the phone option then this function inst enabled..any idea?? Any info or a link to all the colombus system info would be great. Seems daft that they wouldn't let manual drivers select the MFSW and phone system it will stop me buying the car if thats the case.
  9. I had this problem with My MK 1 TT which I think uses the exact set up as the Octavia a few things I figured out using the TT shop manual, VAG COM, searching online and advice 1 Most dealers have no clue how to do this properly I had to show them..finally used a good Skoda dealer to do it not an Audi Dealer. Also its not designed to constantly adjust up and down it only does this when at low speed read below for info why..yes the system adjust right left for cornering up to 40MPH I believe but not up and down during driving above 5MPH. 2 You must interrogate the right block and set it using VAGCOM coding to allow adjustment... the shop manual states to park a certain distance back from a wall. The light will move to a neutral position once block is coded to adjustment value 3 you then adjust manually using screw driver and setting it to certain height on wall and certain alignment left right per Shop Manual 4 you now use VAGCOM to reprogram the block with the learn code so this new level is the neutral level. 5 all done no more blinding anyone..if your still blinding people you may have a broken sensor or your not giving it time to adjust at start up read below. IF that doesn't work and the levels still seem too low or high use VAG SCOPE Function to scope the two level sensor voltages as you drive (details on ROS TECH site they show up on two dials)watch the laptop or have a friend do it as you drive over hills and bumps the voltage on either sensor isn't moving or moving very little you have a shot sensor.. 150 euro from Audi don't know cost from Skoda. Buy it.. fit it carefully.. kind of difficult as you need two spanners and its plastic arm is fragile and start the process again. Its easy when you know how but took me three dealers and showing them how its done from my Ross Tech manual for them to get it right. Search online and at Ross Tech...I also have the Audi TT info but block numbers could be different for Skoda (but are probably the same) and obviously diagrams are wrong but shoes you how the system works, if anyone wants it PM me your email address. Those of you noticing it moving a lot on start up thats normal.. This usually happens if you park on an incline because the sensors only adjust when you are below 5 MPH and if you drive in quickly park and power off on an incline they don't have time to do so and there is an artificial load/or lack of on the rear axle due to incline....(we all do this when we arrive home switch off quickly and hop out)....therefore they readjust on start up... because of this if you park on an incline like I do at home take you time once pulling off when you reach level ground allowing the lights to adjust.the adjustment is not designed to adjust up and down as you drive at speed its actually designed to adjust for load factors IE heavy trunk or passenger would weigh down back of car and aim lights higher thus blinding people..when you stop to pick up people or luggage it adjust once they board. Hope this helps some of you and I'm not completely wrong and the Skoda uses a different system altogether but if I am I'm sure someone will let us know very quickly.
  10. For you guys in the UK saying you got a cheaper price than we pay in Ireland for the same spec we all know damn well over here..... our cars are far too expensive, but believe it or not we have the cheapest cars in Europe before the government get involved. Problem is Ireland charges not only VAT but another tax VRT = value related tax on cars which increases with luxury brands or high spec. The government in Ireland actually tax all cars as if its a luxury item and not a necessity under their system... This was deemed illegal by the EU back in the 90's but Denmark and Ireland got approved to keep it until 2013 and are now looking for an extension. Someone needs to bring this to the European court of law for example it increases the price of a High Spec S320 Merc from about 78k Euro in the UK to about 115K euro in Ireland for the exact same car. The government bank the extra supposedly for infrastructure but as some of you may know our roads are terrible once you leave a national or motorway route so this cash ins't going where they promised the EU it would. Its just one of a load of stealth taxes our completely useless governments use and will continue to use. This is why plenty of Irish buyers go north of the border to buy a new car then pay VRT to import the car. Also if you buy a car north you HAVE to register it if driving and living south or the revenue agents will take it from you. How much you pay is decided by a random guy who inspects the car which is another joke as they all have different opinions. Total rubbish law and illegal also as we are all members of the EU and should be allowed drive cars wherever we want. If Ireland just scrapped it yes the dealers would lose because prices would drop about 15% on all second hand cars in particular 1 or 2 year olds but we would then become a major exporter of cars to the UK as our prices would be considerably lower...the dealers wold sell more new cars...the Government could charge a deregistration fee for exports and make the loss back once the industry got large enough and for once the people of Ireland would get a fair deal. But the dealers lobby government and get their way. For me it really annoys me considering I spend 250 days each year working all over Europe and in my opinion should be allowed have a car from any European country I want. One other part of it that some of you Irish guys may not realize is that it affects the cost of extra options also so if you buy say a new VW Scirocco 2 LTR TFSI the extras all cost more than the TDI versions because yes you guessed it VRT is also added to extra options and is linked now to CO2 emissions...its cheaper to buy a car and then purchase the extras after if you can fit them yourself but in many cases it has to be factroy fitted ie parking sensors etc etc. Ireland the land of fat cat politicians and a people who never seem to stand up for themselves...A recent Irish newspaper put it nicely.."The Irish don't do protests we do revolution and conflict" at some stage the people will revolt if the new government about to be voted in don't sort some of these things out. Rant over lol!!
  11. After my experience with the TT I cant wait to get my hands on a reliable car. TT put me off ever owning an Audi again and Irish dealers have no idea and dont honor recalls from Audi UK even though cars are from same batch and main supplier in Ireland is UK owned by main Northern Irish Dealer. Never again. Such an expensive car to run and broke down constantly with annoying electrical issues. From what I have read the skoda seems the most reliable from all the Volkswagen group.. my friend owns a motor factors and says he makes most of his profit selling parts for VW and Audi cars they just are not made for Irish roads.
  12. Lots of great reply's thanks. I see on the VW sites a lot of owners are removing the dash trims and having them sprayed themselves in piano black seems like an easier option to get that look and not too complicated to so from what I read. Will still argue with dealers and see if they can source it at skoda. You guys from Ireland have you had any luck getting some extras thrown in free at time of purchase... considering these harsh financial times we live in? and how long have you had to wait for new orders?
  13. I grew up in Courtown back in the good old days!! I'm spec'ing it up with almost everything reason being a mid to high spec scirocco was setting me back 38k but I can max spec a VRS for 35K from what I see online...just wish the dealers would give me an options price list. Banteer where is that?
  14. Based In North Wexford. Thanks for response will look at carzone now.
