  1. The end of the tale.....: Finally got my VRS back from the dealership , all fixed up. The repair work was done under warranty (phew!) , heres what was done: New door lock part no: 3b2837016h New door foil part no: 1u4868396f New window motor part no: 1u6959802d New wiring loom part no: 1u0971120bg Apparently when after the new wiring loom & door latch were fitted the window motor stopped working (? mmm?) , so that was replaced as well..... I reckon about
  2. Update on wiring loom problem : Its been over 6 weeks now & my local skoda dealership (Telfords Carlisle) havent been able to source a replacement loom & in the meantime another VRS owner has been to them with the same fault. Skoda UK cannot source a replacement loom either so the request has gone in to manufacturing - it could be another 4-5 weeks before the part is available. Now normally I would be jumping up and down at this point, but to be honest Telfords have been very accomodating and honest about the whole thing. Their service guy has just contacted me and offered me a hire car for the duration, until mine is repaired. Only downside is I dont get a 'new' VRS to drive.....it looks like I'm getting a new VW Jetta for a few weeks. At least I'll not be worried about my own car getting nicked as it will be locked up safe and sound at the dearship.
  3. CIVI, Just back from the garage. have been told that my particular problem is frayed wiring in the door loom. This is being replaced once they get the parts in stock. I asked if this was an expensive job.....the customer service rep said "just be glad you are still under warranty " I'll update again when the job is done - probably a 10 days or so.
  4. Am booked in at my dealership this Saturday morning....I'll certainly let you know what the outcome is. The guy at the dealership that I spoke to earlier seemed to think it was something to do with the latch and that they would probably just replace it.
  5. :( My remote central locking has started playing up. Key fob will NOT lock the drivers door, but is working normally on other doors & boot. I'm putting the key in to the drivers door to lock it - the lock is working but immobliser light isnt coming on, so suspect that its not on. Anyone any ideas? if theres anything 'obvious' that i can check? I'm still under warranty (end March 06) so I can still go back to dealership if needed.
  6. There are only 2 remnants of cable protruding about 2 inches out of the connector, a third very short piece of cable is trapped inside the connector. It looks like I do need a replacement one.
  7. I'd really appreaciate it if you would. ! Many thanks
  8. I wonder if anyone out there can help? I've just bought (second hand) a PIONEER TS-WX20LPA active sub. On delivery I've found that the 6 pin power connector has simply been hacked off and is now useless. Any ideas where i can get a replacement from? It looks like its pioneer specific & I've looked at the pioneer website but there are no listing of spares. I've attached a couple of graphics so you can see what I'm after....Any advice appreciated
  9. I just fitted a new Clarion MP3/CD head unit to my octavia - It has Made a massive difference to overall sound, really impresed with clarity. I'm still lacking in bass, so putting an active sub in next.
  10. Clarion head unit fitted and working - Swapped red/yellow cables over and cut blue as directed....CD & MP3 playback sounds great, a massive improvement on the symphony. And the added bonus....the Central locking is still working ! Thanks to everyone who chipped in with advice. Only 1 problem now....the FM reception is hopeless. I plugged in a DIN to ISO adapter, & connected the aerial, but I suspect that the original symphony head unit must have had some kind of integrated signal booster (?)
  11. Now I am confused.....Are you telling me NOT to swap the yellow & red cables around as described by TFBOY ?.....I dont want to do any damage.....I'm starting to feel a trip my local ICE shop may be the least stressful avenue!:( At least I can blame them if it goes t**ts up!
  12. Attached a pic of the wiring supplied with Clarion head unit. As you can see the yellow cable has a 15amp inline fuse. Both the yellow & red cables have two part connectors wrapped in a plastic coating - are these the 'bullet' connectors?.... Please forgive my ignorance of electrical wiring! Thanks for advice guys.
  13. Thanks for advice Lummox....Do you know if I'll be able to get an adaptor to achieve this? I dont want to cannibalise the cars wiring - I'll probably want to put the sypmphony head unit back in when I come to sell...
