  1. I had a look for the sensor this morning, it is mounted to the left of the VP44 pump and is very accessible. It is also the green type as mentioned by Rotodiesel and not the black type. I played around checking connections etc and checking the loom from the sensor. I started the engine, the management light went out and there is no "emmissions workshop!" message. Went for a short test run with no problems although I have a 150 mile trek this afternoon which might be a better test. I wonder did the connection come loose although I dont think so but maybe a wire on the connecton block could be loose? I don't know but here's hoping it was as simple as that. I'll keep you posted of any developments.
  2. Thanks Rotodiesel, I think you're spot on re the VP44 pump being a bad design, I've read your opinions of it on other posts when I had that problem and you were correct. I'm hoping that the management light is connected to the sensor fault, I can't see anything else wrong with the car, it is driving perfectly apart from an odd niggly squeak from the brakes occasionly. Having said that I intend to change the car early this year as we only need to be a one car family now and the wife is a little bit afraid of the Superb due to the big power and the fact that it's an automatic. I'll miss it even though it has cost me a few quid last year for a VP44 replacement. I'll take it to my local garage on Monday see if they can scan it and confirm the fault. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for your opinion and reply.
  3. I got 62k miles out of the original VP44 pump. Strangely I thought the emissions warning was something to do with exhaust smoke? I had some before the original fuel pump failed but absolutely none since. I had no emissions warnings with the smokey engine back then! Where exactly under the bonnet is the sensor which you speak about located?
  4. Hi Guys, the emissions workshop warning just came up on my 2.5 tdi V6 today and the little warning light on the dash "the small engine" is lit up. Car is driving perfectly with absolutely no emissions or any sign of smoke. Stopped and started a few times today but warning still there. Bosch 44 fuel injection pump and ECU have been replaced 11000 miles ago and absolutely no problems there. Any ideas? As I say the car is running perfectly with no smokiness at all.
  5. Eventually got it sorted, ECU was problem, replaced it and car now back running sweetly! A little bit expensive though from start to finish all parts and labour local garage and then main dealer £1600 incl VAT
  6. Yes I agree that's why I want guarantee that if I authorise replacement then I wont be paying for any other problems. I would expect a dealer to have enough technical back up from Skoda UK to be able to determine whats wrong completely!
  7. Took to dealer, no fault came up!! but car still same, dealer mechanic now thinks it's the engine control module but needs to confirm before changing. Hope we're getting somewhere now. I think that the 2.5 being the less common of the superbs is harder to diagnose problems on because the mechanics dont get enough exposure to them in their normal duties.
  8. yes, a new tank pump was installed after initial RAC diagnosis
  9. Getting fault code 00550 on one diagnostic computer but nothing on another?? any ideas? car still having trouble starting and running rough. This all just happened suddenly, car was running perfect up to this!
  10. yes fuel filter replaced and pump in tank
  11. my 05 2.5tdi 60k miles was running like a sewing machine, one morning went to start engine, just turned and turned. Called RAC, no faults on their computer evident, guy thought lift pump in tank might not be delivering enough fuel. Recovered to local garage, they got it to go, very rough, loads of air in fuel had to bleed system right through to injectors. Various faults on their computer, fuel pressure, air in fuel etc, running very smokey, engine management light on however when warmed up and out on road engine responded well all lights cleared, however when idling was very rough, then stopped, found fuel pump in tank not delivering, replaced it, engine started and ran like a dream and car drove well, next thing all happened again, engine management lights etc. all on. Engine is rough to start again however runs well when warm but starts to go rough again at about 2500rpm. Mechanic is exceptionally talented but is puzzled by this. Has suggested diagnostics in dealer but wants to investigate further beforehand. Not sure if main injection pump is problem because of on road performance when warm. Any ideas out there in Skodaland??
  12. I've got an 05 2.5tdi tiptronic elegence 60k miles. New brakes were fitted all round last August. I've noticed a noise like a rubbing/squealing noise from the passenger side when driving, sounds a bit like a fan belt noise but it's not, usually starts after a few miles and is noticable mostly above 30mph. As soon as I touch the brake peddle it stops only to return again, thus it's not fan belt and looks like a brake issue. I also notice brake squealing when I've just about stopped. Thought it may have been a stone caught in a disk so the garage that i use tried compressed air to blow around brakes but to no avail. Any ideas anyone? I'm a bit worried that the new brakes fitted may not have been the genuine thing and this maybe the cause as I had no problems before. I'm also a little sceptical of the garage.
