  1. I It looks like the new Yeti has taken some features from the Ateca - mostly sculpted sides and rear. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/skoda/yeti/91163/new-skoda-yeti-suv-to-get-sharper-looks-and-more-space “The new look kept us in intense discussions as we have a real fanbase for the current Yeti,” I'd love to have been a fly on wall in the conversations during the early design stages. Starting with a hugely successful car, well respected by most journalists and public alike and someone says "OK, let's completely change it." Skoda had a great opportunity to build a classic, perhaps not to the same level of success, but along the lines of the Golf. The formula is evolution not revolution. What a shame.
  2. Hi Oli, I might be (very reluctantly) selling my 2.0 CR Elegance in the next month or so. Let me know if you're still interested and i'll send you the detalls. Best regards, Nigel
  3. Got a very good price for my Yei from James Rothwell at Allams. I was given updates from the order date, when the car was to be built, on it's way to be shipped, etc. All in all a good buying experience.
  4. Standard equipment on the Elegance as I hadn't specifically ordered them. They don't automatically fold when turning off the ignition. They're only operated by the switch.
  5. Very enjoyable especially considering the M25 had the usual jam around the A3! Your directions were spot on James, thanks!
  6. Hi Moonman2, Looks like your decision was sound! I ordered mine on April 5th and there was no mention at the time that the option was going to be made available.
  7. I've just picked up my 2.0 110 2WD which was built w/c June 6th, so it's taken about 5 weeks: via train form the factory to Emden, ship to UK, Customs, delivery to dealer, PDI and towbar fitment. What was also particularly good was the fact I only ordered the car in early April. I wasn't expecting it until at least September from what people here and the dealers had been saying.
  8. Picked up my new Yeti 2.0 110 Elegance today and had my most enjoyable drive back around the M25 in a long time! Really comfortable, quick enough and a great ride over the speed bumped, pot-holed streets near my home! Of interest to the forum will be the news that electric folding mirrors have been introduced with the Elegance model. There is an additional position at 8 o'clock on the mirror control switch. Apparently the dealer had not been made aware from the factory until cars started arriving with the option a few days ago. On checking with the factory, it was at first denied! So a good day so far: the sun's shining, I've a new car and an extra option!
  9. I can't believe that the day has nearly arrived. Tomorrow morning I'm on the train to Allam's in Epsom to pick up my Yeti 2.0 CR Elegance. It was ordered on the 5th April and I was ready for a long wait until at least late September. I've only seen a dozen on the roads in that time and each time I see one it makes me think I've made the right decision. I hope the driving experience lives up to it; test drives are always over too quickly! Thanks again to all the regulars on here who helped me turn away from the dark side (Alfa Giulietta) and see the light!
  10. Thanks Johann. By the way, love the sketch of the Yeti! That wouldn't work very well with just about any other car!
  11. That a long wait! And I thought you "pioneers" would have got yours through much quicker!
  12. Thanks guys. Mine will be ready towards the end of September at the earliest, which just seems a lifetime away right now! :(
  13. Having looked at the usual clutch of hatchbacks as well as a few more unusual ones such as the Giulietta, yesterday I finally pulled the trigger on an Elegance, Steel Grey 2.0 TDI CR 2WD! The alternatives were all very competent but were bland and just didn't excite me. Now that shouldn't happen when you're buying a new car! The Yeti just seemed very well put together and just oozes character. A rare comodity in a car these days! I have to thank this forum and all of you who contribute to it for the information, sometimes wit(!) and the confidence you inspire for prospective owners. Many thanks! I will try and do my bit by contributing in the future. Big thanks also to James Rothwell at Allams in Epsom. I tried my local dealer who were competent enough but who's attitude was along the lines of "we don't need to negotiate as these cars sell themselves". I got quotes from several of the internet brokers mentioned on the forum but contacted James with what I was after. He was very responsive, professional and surprisngly, competitive. All done in just a few hours yesterday afternoon! Now the long countdown starts...

    Sunroof

Hi Johan, I didn't mention it in my post but I did originally contact the MD. He promptly replied and he put me in contact with the Customer Relations Manager. The problems reported are around supply and not weight.

    Sunroof

I've ben trying to find out if a sunroof option might be available in time for the Yeti order I'm itching to place. I've heard back from the Customer Relations Manager at Škoda UK. Their Factory Liaison is unavailable until Monday 7 March but he's going to give me an update when he returns and I'll post this on this forum. Due to the unforeseen demand for the Yeti in 2010, their second and third tier suppliers couldn't supply quickly enough and the panoramic sunroof was temporarily withdrawn.
