  1. I purchased a Fabia Est SEL in Oct 2017. It had already been built and had everything I wanted apart from a factory installed sat nav system. The dealer suggested the Kenwood GVN60 as recommended by Skoda. I asked if it had the same functionality as my previous factory fitted sat nav in my previous Fabia. The dealer assured me that it did. I parted with the £500 and the unit was installed by the dealer prior to collection. Fifteen months later and I have come to the conclusion that the system is pretty hopeless. The maps were out of date right from the start, the traffic updates have never worked and there do not appear to be any map updates available. I contacted the dealer soon after purchase to explain that the sat nav was not as described but the response was that it was the Skoda recommended unit. The dealer really didnt seem to know much about it. I have struggled along with it, been stuck in several huge jams that the sat nav knew nothing about and driven 'offroad' more times than I care to remember. A couple of weeks ago, a message appeared on the screen advising me that the maps needed to be update (tell me something I didn't know). I followed the instructions to the Kenwood website to find that the system is no longer supported. Can anyone please let me know if they have ever managed to update the maps on this system. Has anyone managed to get the travel updates to work? I use the sat nav alot. Would I be better off changing it? Or pursuing the dealer to sort it out? Thank you, Sara
  2. I had been thinking about ordering a new car for a while. I usually only keep a car for 3 years but I was so happy with this one that I kept it for longer. That will teach me!
  3. I have stuck with a new Fabia Est diesel SEL even though I have had issues with my existing car, I really like the new Fabia. It has the new EU6 engine so hopefully it will be ok. I have been very happy with my existing Fabia until the recent emissions issue.
  4. The dealers are behaving as if there isn’t a problem. Almost as if it is my imagination. I have ordered a new car from a different dealer. I drive 20000 miles per year, mostly alone. I need to feel that I can trust my car. I will make sure that I have a copy of the peace of mind guarantee to go with my existing car when I sell it.
  5. I do not have a copy of the VW peace of mind post fix guarantee form. I will contact the dealers to request this.
  6. My Partner dropped the car off for service. He signed the sheet the dealer always requested must be signed to give permission to service the car. He didn’t realise it also gave the dealers permission to carry out the emissions fix. The service manager explained to him what had been done when he collected the car. So I’m stuck really. I couldn’t leave the car with the dealers, there was no courtesy car available until the middle of November.
  7. I am at the dealers now. Apparently my rubber floor mat was wedged under the accelerator which was causing lack of power???? Sorry? What about the cutting out and terrible fuel economy? “There were no error codes showing up on the diagnostics”. Says the service manager. They have suggested if the problems continue they will have it in for further investigations over a couple of days. So now what do I do??
  8. Thank you. I will question why they carried out the 'fix' without my permission. I had received the notification asking me to book the car in for the 'fix' but I did not ask for it to be carried out. Sara
  9. My Fabia Est 1.6 SE had it's 80,000 mile service in August this year. I have had the car from new, I average 20,000 miles per year. It has been a great car, extremely economical and reliable. Unfortunately, when my car went in to the dealership for its service, the mechanics also carried out the emissions 'fix'. What a nightmare! The engine has cut out completely on two occasions, both when accelerating up hill. The fuel economy has dropped from an average consumption of 63mpg on my journey to work to 54mpg, my journey home from 58mpg to 49mpg. The engine is extremely sluggish and I have noticed when starting the engine that the diesel fumes are really strong. At first I thought these issues had been caused by a dodgy tank of diesel because I filled the tank just after collecting the car from the dealers. It has now been a couple of months and there is no improvement. If anything it appears to be getting worse. I have booked the car in to the dealers next week so that they can plug it into their diagnostic machine. I now know that there have been many people with problems after the emissions fix. Has anyone managed to get their cars back to normal after this?? I am so fed up with it that I am looking to buy a new car. The 'fix' is costing me much more in fuel. Sara.
  10. Thanks for the info. Consumption for our existing Yeti is 550miles to a tank of fuel during summer months but that drops down to about 450miles during the winter probably due to the engine taking forever to warm up. I can be 18 miles into my journey to work before any noticable heat comes out of the blowers. I can tell you what the maxidot reads but obviously it isn't accurate. During the Summer I can regularly get a reading of 62mpg but in the winter this drops to a reading of 50-52mpg. I test drove a Ford BMax at the weekend, it is supposed to have an extra urban consumption of 67-72mpg. The salesman has been driving it for 4500 miles and the best he could get was 49.5mpg, hopeless really. The Yeti greenline is the only car that has grabbed me so far.
  11. Dear Yeti Owners, Can anyone out there driving a Yeti Greenline, advise me regarding fuel economy please. I am shopping around for a new car, my partner already drives a Yeti 2.0 TD SE which I really like but the fuel economy isn't as good as I would need it to be. I travel a 60 mile round trip to work each day and would ideally like 60mpg, I average 20,000 miles per year. The technical specs in the brochure state 67mpg extra urban and 61.4mpg combined, how does this compare with actual mpg as experienced by Greenline owners? Any advice much appreciated. Sara
  12. Thank you All for your speedy replies, much appreciated. It was particularly cold this morning and I used both the heated front and rear screens. I noticed that the average consumption was very slow to climb. To be honest, I had no idea that there were different diesel formulations depending on the time of year and I have been driving diesels for the last 20 years, good to know. Hopefully that is all it is. I haven't been driving any faster, in fact the complete opposite since I noticed the poor economy. I have tried to accelerate gently, keep at a steady speed etc but it has made no difference. During the Summer I was regularly getting average consumption figures of 62.9mpg on my 30 mile trip to work, so this mornings 51.1mpg was a bit of a shock. The fuel light came on just as I arrived at work. What I will do is fill up at another petrol station and monitor for the next tank full, I will also check my tyre pressures today. Thank you
  13. Dear Yeti Owners, Does anyone have any idea why our fuel consumption should suddenly increase? We have had our Yeti 110 diesel SE since September 2011. The fuel economy wasn't brilliant to start with, as would be expected from a new diesel engine, but as time has gone on this has steadily improved. I know the average fuel consumption in MPG on the computer thingy is not entirely accurate but if I use the readings from it just to illustrate what is happening. I occasionally use the Yeti to commute to work, 30 miles each way. I start work early mornig so traffic is light, it is a mixture of country lanes, town and dual carrigeway. The average mpg usually reads around 60 on the trip to work. On the return journey there is more traffic and the average mpg reads around 58. For the last two tanks of fuel the average consumption is showing 51mpg going to work and about the same for the return journey. I thought it could be a dodgy tank of fuel so made sure that the next fill up was from a different supplier, same problem. My OH spoke with our Skoda dealer, they asked us to monitor the miles we get to a tank of fuel from fuel warning light coming on, filling up and then the light coming on again. Fuel consumption was 485 miles to the tank, whereas we normally get around 550. Has any other member experienced this? Mileage is 11500, engine appears to be running fine. Skoda dealer said that having the heater and lights on will put more strain on the engine and effect fuel consumption?????? Ok.....but by so much??? Any advice would be appreciated. Sara.
  14. I had a detachable Westfalia swan neck towbar fitted at a Skoda dealer yesterday. They fitted it themselves and it took all day! Not that I was worried as I had a very nice Octavia 1.6D courtesy car. Our Yeti had the towbar prep too. Total cost £662 13pin full electrics for our caravan. Sounds expensive but I called around several towbar fitting specialists in the area prior to booking in with Skoda and they were all around the same price or more and they didn't have the facility to re-code if necessary. One Skoda dealer closer to home wanted to charge £1200+VAT !!!! We will be hitching up the caravan this evening to check that everything works as it should.
  15. Thank you everyone. I knew I would get an answer on here. I'd better call the dealer and re-book.
