  1. Yes, I've experienced this on a couple of occations. My car is currently in the workshop for an exchange of a faulty electronics module (my horn stopped working a few weeks after delivery and I have problems with the radio reception, probably due to the faulty module). My car is a MY17...

    Superb 280tsi

  3. I got it and I got a combi. For me it's really useful and I wish it would be possible to get a forward facing camera as well. The rear camera is included if you buy the tow bar on Swedish spec superbs (approx £600 extra)
  4. Welcome NicSwede I too considered the V90 for about 30 minutes or so. Too expensive and I've had bad experiences with new Volvos (99 S80T6, spent 6 months in workshop out of the 32 months I had it. My 2002 XC90 D5 was returned to the dealer due to multiple problems). My current Superb (MY17, 3 weeks old) is my second Superb. Very pleased with both cars, but the S3 is way better than my old 09 S2. I'm sure you will be pleased with the car. Handles well on Swedish roads, comfortable, excellt gas milage (0.47L/10km (60 mpg for the britts) measured) and really good seats if you travel long distances as I suspect you do. Mine is a manual 6 speed with 150HP and 4x4 and I can't wait to see how it performs during the winter in heavy snow and with studded tires. For me, who pays for the car out of my own pocket, it's hard to find a car that brings more value for the money than the S3. Some of my friends drive the Passat and it's a nice car but a tad boring and way to common these days.
  5. Just tried it once this far. The nights here up north are still not very dark or very long Considering the complexity of the system it's a very good piece of technology that works quite well. Let's hope for some updates in a not so distant future. I will look into adding a LED light bar, the roads I drive are often empty and wild animals are quite common and the current lights are not the best in these situations. On my S2 I had 3 NBB 225:s with 75W xenon bulbs, they made driving in the dark very comfortable
  6. Did my first night-time drive today with my 5 days old S3. Nights at this time of the year in Sweden is not very dark, so it may not be totally accurate regarding the function of SLA. My first impressions are that the system is functioning quite well. It detect cars, mopeds, bicycles and motorcycles. It also detects lampposts, meaning that it will not engange the headlight at all, unless I switch to manual mode. Big road signs made of high-vis reflective material also triggers the system in the same way as cars, ie it blacks out the sign. Ususally very good, but can eventually be a bit annoying since you can't read the sign until you get really close to it. If there where plenty of traffic signs scattered on both sides of the road within a shorter distance (two crossings, one smaller and one bigger, withing 100 meters), the system seem to be confused, resulting in fast moving black spots all over the road where the system probably identified the signs as on-coming cars. I expect a few software updates to the system in the future since there are room for improvements, but it will probably take some time... Over all a nice system, I will benefit from it in some situations and in others I will disable it and use manual mode.
  7. I'm waiting to take delivery in a few days of a S3 150bhp 4x4 manual. Tried both the 190 and 150 and settled on the 150. Why? For my kind of driving (rural country roads, some dual carrigageways and some motorways), lightly loaded car and approx. 28000 miles per year the 150 fits the bill perfectly. I currently drive a S2 170bhp with DSG and I could not find any noticeable differences in power between my current car and my new one. The DSG is probably to "blame" for this since it delivers power a bit different than a manual gearbox. I think that with normal driving, you will not notice that it differs 40bhp between the two, but if you load the car up and perhaps tows something heavy, you will notice the difference in torque/power. For me, it was important to have a manual and 4x4, the DSG is more expensive to maintain than a manual, and here in Sweden you can't buy the 190 with 4x4 and manual gearbox.
  8. Visited the dealer today. The car arrived last night and is now awaiting the PDI. Probably pick-up early next week (unless my attempt to bribe with cake if delivered tomorrow works ). Sorry for the flares and general not-so-good images. Cellphone, rain and sunshine is probably not the best conditions to photograph a car in the dealers parking...

    New Superb (MY17)

    My new Superb
  10. Car is built and awaiting transport to Germany and then by ship to Södertälje in Sweden and road transportation to the dealer. Estimated delivery of w28-w29 seem to be valid. Got my reg.plate today. I will probably stay away from English speaking countries since it starts with COK
I have ordered a Superb Style Combi (150BHP Diesel, manual gearbox, 4x4) and in business grey. Almost fully loaded with extras and I expect it to arrive within 2-3 weeks. Bought from Bilmetro i Gävle, the seller was above average, calm, pleasant and to the point. Good good discounts (10% off) via my memebership in Swedens largest hunters organisation and some extra stuff on top of that.
  12. Mine will be built this comming week (25). So I'll probably get it just in time for my vacation Would have ordered it in L&K trim if they offered it with manual transmission on the diesels...
  13. As far as I know this is still true for the Swedish market (talked to dealer two weeks ago, so it may have changed since). He even showed me a PDF with information on MY17 changes where the heated steering wheel was mentioned. But it is not available in the configurator, as you noticed and the dealer could not find any boxes to tick in his ordering system, so maybe it will be removed or added at a later time, closer to production start... For me, it's not a dealbreaker at all, I'm not used to have this function and I've fitted my car with the optional (on style-trim) aux heater, and that will mitigate some of the problem (including de-icing of the windscreen that also is an extra on Swedish Superbs)...
  14. Just ordered this by a reseller in Sweden: Combi, style trim (Swedish variant), 150BHP diesel, 4x4, manual. Business grey metallic, black leather/alcantara, towbar, smart-light-assist, park assist 360, heated seats (front and back), bad road package, kessy with virtual pedal, electrical seats in the front, aux heater, amundsen, Canton, optical park assisst, etc. Almost all options available in other words... Build week: w25. Delivery week: w28-w29. Confirmed MY2017. Right now 8-9 weeks before delivery
  15. Some more info that applies to Swedish Superbs; Improved sound-proofing KESSY standard on Style and L&K trims High pressure washer on reverse camera (on Combi models) New internal rear view mirror (no edges) New remote control for the aux heater (more Skoda-like in it's design than current model) New 19" rims in glossy black Some new colours (7 if I recall properly) Heated steering wheel will be in production from W45, but can be ordered from W17... 1,6TDI/120PS GreenLine can be ordered from W17 Sportsline will appear as well, no info on details but my dealer guess that it was "twin exhausts and other cosmetics" Prices has not been communicated, but some increase is expected according to the dealer. That's about it...
  16. I've talked to my dealer today about MY17 changes and he told me that Amundsen will be fitted with an 8" screen, the QI-phonebox will be possible to order and also a heated steering wheel will be available to order from week 17 here in Sweden. He also told me that last weeks orders will be delivered in less than 10 weeks, probably around 8 weeks unless you order a fully spec'ed car... So just a couple of more weeks waiting until I pull the trigger for a brand new Superb, my old one (2010, 180k+ miles!) has served me well, but it's age is starting to show and I'm afraid the repair bills will be plentiful if I keep it for much longer...
  17. 41 years young and driving a Superb 2009. It's not an old mans car, it's a smart mans car.
  18. I have a 170 TDI/DSG (limo, MY 2009) that has covered almost 30k miles by now (dealers demo-car bought 6 months ago). Fuel consumption varies between 45 mpg up to a whopping 63 mpg (real consumption between refills!) depending on load, speed and mood Since I live in the more rural parts of Sweden the traffic is light and it's possible to drive for up to an hour without changing speed and the sweet spot is around 85-90 kph (53 to 55 mph) where the car seem to just go and go without using much fuel. I drive about 600 miles a week and the car is fabulous to drive. You can drive it grandpa-style or you can drive it more inspired, it handles wet conditions superb(ly) and it's stable and secure on icy roads (with proper winter tyres, ie studded Nokian Hakkapellita). It's not as fun as my previous Passat (with sport suspension) on curvy roads but that's the only thing I miss from time to time.
