  1. Thanks for the comments. Most helpful. I'm sure both combinations will look good. I guess I just need to 'bite the bullet' and get one ordered
  2. Planning on the ivory. Don't need to worry about youngsters smearing chocolate on the back seats anymore - until grandkids come along - if ever .
  3. Hi, Looking at getting a Superb (already got a Yeti and have 'supplied' my 2 sons with my 'old' Octavia's - so I am a genuine 'Skoda-ite'). Wondered if anyone had any photos of a Superb in petrol blue or rosso brunello (I prefer the blue, my wife prefers the rosso) - I suspect I may have to compromise to ensure the acquisition of a Superb. Planning to get a L&K 170 4x4 estate. Don't really want the DSG but don't seem to have a choice if I want 170PS + 4x4.
  4. Many thanks for your impressions. I realise how difficult it is to provide 'objective' feedback.. I guess I'm at the stage (age) where I'm thinking about making some long drives around Europe and I'd like them to be comfortable for all concerned. I've had an Octavia, I've had a VRS and I've still got a Yeti (which I think is brilliant and intend to keep) but as I know I'm going to go for a new Skoda fairly soon, I'd like to make the 'right;' choice regarding an Octavia or a Superb. I realise the Superb has always been regarded as a comfortable car but I thought the new Octavia might give it a run for it's money. The situation has been complicated by the fact that a new Superb model is soon to be launched and should offer models with better mpg and technology. in short.......I'm confused!!!!!!!!!
  5. Any thoughts on the Superb. Money isn't really an object but (like you) I like the 'feel' of 4x4's so it's just a matter of whether I go for the NEW Octavia 4x4 Elegance, the current Superb 170bhp 4x4 or 'hang-on' for the NEW Superb (hoping they provide a decent 4x4 option),
  6. I'd be interested to know how you feel about the 'ride' of the O3 4x4 vs your previous Yeti. I have a MY 11 Yeti and am looking for another Skoda but I'm not sure whether to go with a 4x4 Octavia or a 4x4 Superb. I am a total convert to Skoda's: my 22 y.o. son has my 'old' 57 plate PD 170 TDI VRS and my 18 y.o. has my 04 plate Octavia 1.9 TDI (130BHP) Ambient SE.My wife and I 'share' a Yeti 2.0ltr (170 bhp) Elegance and a 1.2 ltr Corsa (which was a starter car or both sons). I plan to swap the Corsa for a new Octavia or Superb and I'm not sure which will give me the best (most comfortable) ride. I'd appreciate your opinion (and anyone else who can offer some constructive advice)
  7. For what it's worth....................last weekend I drove down to Goodwood in my 57 plate (Mark II)TDI VRS which I really enjoy driving. I went to Goodwood as a guest of Skoda UK to have a test drive in the new (Mark III) VRS. I ended up driving the TSI (petrol) version and I can honestly say (IMO) the Petrol mk3 is quieter, smoother, more responsive and considerably faster than my mk2. So much so that I am planning to get the TSI in the very near future. For me, the biggest difference was the ability of the driver of the car. I think I am good driver, but after I did 4 laps of the circuit in the TSI...the Pro' driver took me around for 2 further laps and TBH he made me look like a 'numpty'. He took bends/corners at 100mph+ that I thought I was being 'adventurous' at 70mph - I was 'amazed' (and incredibly impressed) at how the VRS was able to stick to the track at the speeds he was driving. When people start 'wittering on' about Golf GTI's versus Skoda VRS's versus whatever else you can care to mention it makes me wonder how important any of this is compared with the ability of being really able to drive like a properly trained driver is able to do - just a thought! For the record I currently have 2 other Skodas (the first one I bought (and still own) is an Octavia Ambient SE (04 plate) - 130bhp and I also have a 2.0L, 170 bhp Yeti Elegance (2011 plate) so I guess I am a convert to the Skoda brand and believe they are excellent value for money (important to a Yorkshireman). At the end of the day, we all want slightly different things from our cars and we are all in slightly different financial situations and need to consider what we want so we eventually get whatever is right for ourselves. Personally, I would prefer the VRS to have 4 wheel drive or my Yeti to have an 'Octavia-sized' boot:)
  8. Hope to see you there. Not sure if I'll go in my vRS or my Yeti
  9. Just received an invitation to go to Goodwood on Sunday 14th July. Seems like I might get a chance to have a go in the new vRS. The experience will probably be wasted on me since I'm not likely to fly around the track but I do love my vRS and am likely to eventually get the Mk III in the next 12 months or so. Is anyone else going?
  10. Hi Yetiflute. Believe me...there is nothing wrong with internet suppliers like Autofinders (personal experience) or DtD (experience of others). I KNOW Autofinders use the usual network of Skoda dealers to supply their cars. My Octavia estate VRS came from Claybanks (Manchester) and my Yeti will (I believe) come from a dealership in Carlisle. In an earlier post someone questioned whether the dealerships will give good sevice to cars not purchased directly from them. My personal experience is that they will (or at least the good ones will). I have never had any contact whatsoever with Claybank and all my service/maintenance has been done at my closest dealership in Hull (including some work under waranty on the DPF on my VRS). I tried to buy a Yeti demonstator from this dealership in December 2010 but they wanted c.a. £24k for a Muscovado 170 Elegance with 6k miles on it. I told them I had been offered a brand new 170 Elegance from Autofinders for c.a. £20k and would give them cash for their Yeti if they could get near to the Autofinders price....They weren't interested so I went to Autofinders. The Salesman's parting words were....if do you get your Yeti from Autofinders.......don't forget to bring it back to us for servicing.
  11. In case you are still wondering whether you can trust some of the web based suppliers...I have ordered my Yeti 170 Elegance from Autofinders (same as StewartK). I can confirm all he has said about them. Pay £500 on credit card and balance on receipt/collection of car. They prefer either Bankers Draft or Debit card for the balance and can arrange finance if required. I ordered my Yeti on 20th December and have been told it was scheduled to be built in week 9 so I am expecting to collect in the next couple of weeks (can hardly wait). My Yeti will be Black Magic Pearlescent and was ordered with spare wheel, carpet mats and Lifeshine. Total cost £20,515. I was also 'concerned' about web-providers but got my Octavia VRS 170 Estate from Autofinders in October 1997 so I can only speak well of them.
