  1. the triangle is useful if it happens and you have to stop behind a bend, with no emergency lane... quite common in rural roads...
  2. it says something on page 26 of the manual (facelift edition)
  3. two days ago somebody stole my car cover...120 UK pounds worth because I had the inspiration of wanting a UV protection, burn proof etc. most propably a junkie, but I had it only a week or less... it is not so much the actual money loss that hurt, but the sensation of somebody violating your space...
  4. on the contrary .... just put a nice set of alloy wheels, a noisy exhaust and black windows and you have a perfectly good chick puller. and just let your colleagues moan about their own age!!!
  5. I have reached 800km.Up to now we drove up to 4000 revs usually 3500 and speeds 120-125 max. Do you think it is time to push short dashes of progressively higher velocities lets say going up to 150-160kmh or it is soon ?
  6. my 1.8TSI ELEGANCE in Greek drive away specs. SWING RADIO-CD no dimming mirror no rear wiper no parking sensors (after market installed for 20 quids) standard ESP no Xennon lights yes to jumbo box yes to MAXI DOT alarm as gift(around 300GBP) external GPS as gift (140 GBP)
  7. that was the cause for a knocking in my previous car.... the chance of something loose (bolt, nut e.t.c) either in the bonnet or boot is far fetched I guess..
  8. interesting..... and what about the response of the 6th? is it a matter of pressing the accelerator pedal harder and the car will respond accordingly? (sorry for the silly questions but my previous car was rather underpowered , and the transition to the TSI power is completely new ground to me)
  9. the most intriguing is the water in the boot.... is your carpet wet as well, or else it may be a hole underneath.... the knocking, unless the technician is on board can be another issue. on a greek skoda site a guy was complaining about a wheel jitter problem...however when he had it tested on several occasions with other people on board the case could not be repeated, finally he had to admit that he overreacted. i am noyt saying that you do, but could it be a case of a normal tear and wear sound that worries you to much?
  10. so I guess the 6th which the manual refers to, as an economy cruise, is capable of hitting more than 100kmh?
  11. seems that this is the case for the 2011 vehicles... https://mediaportal.skoda-auto.com/resource/documentation/manuals/en/Octavia/11-2010/Manual/A5_Octavia_TechnicalChange.pdf poossibility of retrofit? and how useful actually is?
  12. you spoke right into my heart. that is exactly my point. Roads in Western of Greece are single lane with not so many overtaking opporunities. so that is what I need...a immediate response of the motor, with plenty of speed boost to overtake safely, and not so much a high cruising speed.
  13. i am yet to get used to the extra 6th gear and revs as compared to my previous car -a mere 1000cc-and seems to have thee problem of relating revs to gear shift and as a consequence speed. that is the car can travel with 80kmh with 2nd and 3rd equally well to my eyes, but which one is better and at which revs?? ideally i want to hear something like.. 80kmh use 2nd keep revs 2000-2500 160kmh use 4th keep revs 4500-5000 etc.. numbers are made up so please feel free to laugh at my ignorance....
  14. so what did you do? step by step and in plain english please-for us the bloody foreigners!! :'( -
