  1. I'm not sure what you're getting at. All I meant was that it is possible for dealers to do the necessary coding and location change which results in a tick box appearing in the Maxidot menu to allow MPH to be displayed. This is covered in detail in the Diagnostics, etc, section of the site. Jim
  2. Contrary to what has been said, dealers CAN make the change using workshop technology but may not wish to do so as in their view it contravenes EU legislation. If their reluctance can't be overcome by persuasion or doughnuts a VCDS owner will certainly be able to do it following Gizmo's instructions to the letter. It is well worth it and I wouldn't be without it. Jim
  3. I took delivery of my new Yeti 1.2 SE DSG on 1st September, 2016 - works just fine! Jim
  4. For information: the previous advice given by Gizmo68 re enabling the large MPH in the Yeti's Maxidot display still works providing it is followed to the letter. Jim
  5. Re the above post, I've now contacted Skoda and been advised that under EU legislation, it is a legal requirement throughout Europe - including the UK - to display a vehicle’s speed in both MPH and KPH and that this can be achieved by use of either a dual display instrument dial, or a single display dial and a digital display. The use of a secondary digital display often occurs in vehicles which have a small speedometer dial, such as the ŠKODA Yeti Outdoor. I was advised that for this reason, it is not possible for the digital display to be changed to display MPH. I asked if regardless of the legality, and in view of the fact that Yetis are sold in non-EU countries where the large MPH can be displayed, it was technically possible to make the desired change as I had done to my previous Yeti. I was simply told that they could not comment on that. So much for that idea then! It looks like those of us who want to make the change will have to wait until the technical experts in our midst come up with a solution. Jim
  6. My wife and I are really enjoying our new Yeti which seems even better than the last one. However our enjoyment is marred by the apparent inability to have the large MPH displayed in the Maxidot window as we had on the last car. This may be a naive question but in view of the interest in this subject has anyone any idea if an approach has been made to Skoda UK to make the feature available? In my opinion this option would satisfy customers' requirements, improve customer relations and, not least, improve road safety. Jim
  7. Thanks Tony, As you say, we can only hope! The function is so useful I'm surprised Skoda haven't simply incorporated it into the Maxidot menu. I can't imagine it would cost anything. Jim
  8. Hi Great Yeti, May I ask if you have had any success in showing the large MPH in the Maxidot display? I've just changed my 2011 Yeti 1.2 for a new 1.2 DSG and was hoping to have the large MPH in the Maxidot as I had in the previous car. It's a feature I really like and find very useful. My dealer "unofficially" tried to make the change but despite the location being changed to Australia and apparently accepted, it did not work. Regards. Jim
  9. Thanks to all for the comments. I'll have to try my dealer to see if they can let me know when they have a business grey one in for service or whatever. Failing business grey, I'll obviously have to settle for something else, maybe quartz grey if that's the correct name. My wife has a notion for red which I don't share (yet). Jim
  10. Thanks for that. Yes it does look more blue than grey - decisions, decisions! Tibbermore
  11. I have a 60 plate steel grey Yeti which I mean to replace in September. Ideally I would like another in steel grey however it would appear that this colour is no longer available in the UK. It seems to me that business grey is the nearest match and I wondered if anyone has one in this colour and could post a photo. It doesn't look too bad on the Skoda car configurator however I don't know how true that might be. I know that colour is purely a personal thing but in my humble opinion steel grey suited the Yeti more than any other colour. I recently viewed a Skoda "sphere" in a showroom and thought it had too much blue in it. Tibbermore
  12. Thanks for that - glad I'm not alone! Can I do the all the changes you describe myself through the Maxidot or is it another VCDS job?
  13. Two months on and I think I've cracked it! When I had the Maxidot display changed I was using the main ignition key, however when my wife drives the car she uses the second key and it's always when she's using the car that the Range screen appears. I moved the car for her today using the second key, found that the Range screen was displayed although I had left it yesterday with the large MPH displayed, and then found I could not bring up the large MPH screen. The question now would appear to be whether the Maxidot change should or could be done again using the second key (or whether I should leave well alone)?
