  1. My JVC 909RB has Aux in front and rear which is great. Size of display is a factor as the more text on the screen the better, mine misses info due to its character limit even if it scrolls. Most Mp3's sound pretty good @ 192kbs but they don't seem to handle reggae, dub, jazz, classical or 60's garage bands very well - old stuff I guess. Loves Hip Hop though. I'm getting a Creative Zen 60GB to plug in soon but even that might be a bit small.
  2. This a daft game which I feel compelled to play The Clash London Calling Van Morrison Moondance Bob Marley Exodus Temptations Greatest Bob Dylan Blood on the Tracks
  3. That site is a great one but be warned it could end up costing you a fortune - it did me. I now find myself endlessly tweaking crossovers something i had no Knowledge of 6 months ago in search of the perfect sound. I'd rather listen to music in the car, even if its sat in the garage, to hear the astounding sound quality.
  4. I did have some Pioneer Coaxials (1746's) I think which were pretty good if you don't mind the sound around your feet. I decided I'd prefer components after I'd put those in so I'm now the proud owner of Focal 165 V Slims and an Audision Srx3. Still waiting to put in a sub, so I'm missing most of the bottom end at the moment. Once I've done that it should sound pretty awesome. :goodvibes
  5. Had a JVC909RB and X550 changer fitted yesterday. This is what the head unit looks like in the dash see attached. Bit colourful but it sounds great. :smileypul
  6. Just ordered a JVC SH909RB and will be only too pleased to put pics up when its installed. Might do it myself but i want new comps in the front, so when I find an installer I can trust, I'll get him to do the lot. Thinking of getting all the bits (HU,Comps,Amp and Sub) and installing in one go for maximum dramatic effect. :hbomb: What a shame dull things like deadening wiring and installation hike the budget. On the other hand once the JVC is sitting on my shelf I'll probabley be unable to resist whacking it in to see what its sounds like. Santa is arriving late this year. :santa1:
  7. You my friend are what is known as a bad influence! :fro: What you've done to those grills, does that really look OK in the flesh? What are you driving them with - not the Symphony!
  8. Thanks, its nice to know someone else has struggled with the problem. I'm almost certain to get a professional to install what ever i choose. There are some DLS PS6's that are supposed to sound good ( @150 smackeroonies they flippin better) and they have a 20mm tweeter and a 53mm woofer depth. I'm currently trying to find the piece of paper I wrote down the Octy tweeter size on. Focal 165 slims have also been suggested to me, if I seek perfection but at
  9. When buying comps should one worry about tweeter sizes or is there generally a way of jiggering them behind the dash grills?
  10. Thanks for that. I think I might go for a 12 as they are generally only a bit more money. I can allow the rest of the family a generous 4 slots for their personal faves. :juggle:
  11. Will a 12 disc changer fit where the 6 changer sits in an Octavia? Surely it must.
  12. Well done you found a speaker i hadn't looked at -the mounting depth is 65mm (factory fits are about 53mm i think) so they might begetting a bit deep for the Octy doors. Others have mentioned tin cutters at that sort of depth. I found this info below. They are supposed to have a laid back sound which would make them a good choice if they'd fit. http://www.phase-linear.com/html/pc165_20.html
  13. Looking to do the ICE thing in January, which has given me far too long to research, so the budget required just seems to go up and up. I think it peaked on Saturday when the ICE shop I visited showed me Focal 165 slim fits (
  14. Thanks to Fabia for his input. Its a sad man who finds himself surfing the net for 12v lighter extensions. I never realised so much variety of choice was possible. This solution means i've got another annoying bit of cable but the advantage of three fags at once of a morning. Been fighting the urge to get a JabraBT200 as surely the dickhead factor must fall as more people have to wear these headset things. My T68i does voice but my experiments with the cheapo thing in your ear found road noise a problem -are Startrek style headsets any better?
  15. The position of the lighter made me wonder. I notice they do a vent fitting version and one that appears to stick to things. If these are all useless then a
