  1. ok I have asked this question before but i just want to confirm i have all the answers. I am treating my octavia to new suspension at the front end 1. I believe i need springs, shock absorbers and top mounts.Anything else? 2. Can anybody reccomend a website where to buy these parts? 3. Does anybody near Colchester have spring compressors i can borrow? Many thanks Richard
  2. so if i want to o the whole shebang 1 shock absorbers 2 springs 3 top mounts anything else?
  3. Ive only had her 18 monhs and done 10k. But the guy i bought her off was a nice genuine type and he gave me all recent receipts and there was no hint of replacement at anytime. The car is now very spongy and bottoms out on bumpy roads so it definetly needs something so think i will replace the lot.
  4. 200 k Birthday. Thanks for your help
  5. Hi all I recently put a post up stating that i am about to treat my 1999 Octavia to a new set of front shock absorbers and springs. However i have just got off the phone to a friend and he asked why i am not also replacing the top mounts???? as they usualy fail/perish Is this neccesary/worthwile whilst i have her on the ramp Many thanks
  6. Firstly Merry Xmas to all Skoda owners OK i placed a post a number of months ago ref the ride height of my '99 Octavia estate I have come to the conclusion it is either the springs or shock absorbers on the front, I have come to this conclusion because she is very wallowy and on uneven roads she has a tendency to scrape the front bumper She is approaching her 200,000 birthday so i will treat her 1. As a novice mechanic is this a job i should attempt myself 2 Do i need spring compressors 3 Shall i get a haynes manual or is there a good description on the net somewhere Many thanks
  7. TBH i have had her for about 9 mnths and i am unsure on what has been replaced. The gent who owned her before me was an engineer and she was serviced every 10k on the nose. I have pulled my 4 berth caravan since owning her and still as strong as i would expect. All i want from a remap is slightly more torque to make pulling my caravan slightly less of a strain.
  8. Hi all I am considering getting my 1999 Octy 110 Estate a decent remap I have owned her for a yr now and still delighted with everything about her She was wonderfully cared for before my tenure and i aim to continue the good work However, my concern is this, she is coming up to her 200,000 milestone . will a remap put too much strain/pressure on what appears to be a very strong engine. Many thanks Rich

Not sure if it is linked but my car central locking remote is not working either. Please help as i really want to go away with my van. many thanks richard
