  1. Sounds familiar. New spark plugs cured it. H
  2. I had misfire problems at both 7500 and 15000 miles and both times a spark plug change sorted it. Both times done under warranty by dealer. H
  3. Purchased April 2011. Via Eardley's in Stoke but from a friend's company. It was new. Currently around 18000 miles. Run in, but not too gently, for 1st 1500 miles then driven as the mood takes me but rarely totally flat out as roads round here don't suit it. It does long steep hills every day under acceleration as work is at the top of a big hill and I live at the top on the other side of the valley. Not driven too gently though. Has lived on a range of Tesco momentum, v power, and recently sainsbury's super unleaded. I have had a problem with misfires and had the spark plugs replaced twice (before the Sainsbury's super so it wasn't the fuel) . Oil usage is about the same as any other car I've had. Think it's around 2-3 litres since new but it could be less. I use the vw specification oil from halfords, their own brand.
  4. Thanks for that, it puts my mind at rest. H
  5. Whilst we're on the topic.of gearboxes can I ask what's the procedure when you stop at traffic lights for example. Do you leave it in D and keep your foot on the footbrake with the handbrake on; keep it in D with handbrake on and release the footbrake so you don't dazzle the driver behind but with the car trying to move; or should you bung it in N with the handbrake on? I'm not talking about the quick stops but rather those times when you arrive as the lights change and there are filters etc that mean you are stuck for ages. H
  6. Mine is back from the garage and I've a big grin back on my face. Just pulling out from the dealers and accelerating away reminded me why I bought it. Then I went for a spin around some quiet, twisty country lanes and started to grin.
  7. I've had a few problems, but not any worse than other new cars I've had. BUT I love it! It's at the garage at the mo and I'm really missing being able to drive it and I'm always amazed how it puts a smile on my face whenever I plant my right foot. It is my favourite, by a long way, of all the cars I've had. And I have to agree with some of the earlier posts, it's got to be red with a black roof and dark chrome alloys. But I'm a little biased there. The dealer has got a green with black wheels and a black roof and everytiime I see it I do wish I'd been a little braver. It looks gorgeous. H
  8. I've just been told they're replacing the flywheel. Not a gearbox issue. H
  9. Glad I'm not the only one. Mine is also in, approx same mileage, also had probs with misfire and sparkplugs around 7500 and now is having gearbox looked at. Hope it won't be too long to wait. I've got a polo and I hate it. H
  10. Don't mind where, I'm to the north of the city so not too far south. Weekends are best though once the summer is here anytime.
  11. Also sounds a little like the problems I had with a misfire. It started off with no fault messages then developed into a proper misfire over the following month or so.
  12. Me too. But still not worked out why i'd want to put the parcel shelf halfway down the boot. Anyone used it like that?
  13. Actually was looking at octavia vrs as a second hand option and when my old octavia was in for mot went for test drive and fell in love with the speed and the dsg. Oh and of course the price. Also my sister is selfish and has a mx5 so one of us had to have a sensible car to ferry the elderly parents around! H
