  1. I was offered a Karoq Edition - 4WD 150bhp diesel for £23k - 5,000 miles and under a year old - at £10k below list - Edition discontinued and K & L model to be introduced I would expect such discounts at this price point on similar cars - the Merc discount was slightly higher on a £34k + list price
  2. I think a new model (LCI) will be released this year
  3. just sold our 2 Yeti's ....... probably would have bought another Yeti had there been a very low miles 150bhp 4WD around - there were a few at £16k++ but at that price we started looking at the Karoq, (and the VW, BMW etc., equivalents) I drove a Karoq 2.0 4WD Edition Manual and was quite impressed - very well equipped, quiet, roomy etc., etc.,has plenty of performance......... but it is certainly not a Yeti but I suppose that it is a better car even though the styling could be considered maybe bland. For me it is does not drive like a Yeti - the "feel" for the road etc., that the Yeti has ....has gone in the Karoq I wish Skoda the best of luck with the new range and the sales guy I saw near Oxford did a first class job during my test drive etc., We have gone for a BMW X1 18d Xdrive Xline - auto with leather and a few other bits and pieces - it was a BMW staff car bought from the local BM dealer, the car is like new, 4,000 miles on the clock, 9 months old, (and £13k below original list price) The car drives very very well, I was impressed with the test drive, (we have a 335D), but the 2 litre 150bhp engine in the 18d pulls very well and the 8 speed sports auto box, (with 3 modes) - well, what can I saw, it's just the best around
  4. This I have had this problem a few times over the years - big heavy flywheel - 2000cc Diesel engine - have you ever tried bump starting the thing in 2nd gear after it has stalled - very difficult, have to start it on the key
  5. Interested to know what "parts" they intend to fit if it is just the DPF surely they will try a forced regen before anything else - not sure about the Yeti, but with most of these (not too expensive) ODB scanners you can force a regen
  6. I take the battery off one of our Yeti's maybe 3 times a year - never had a problem (with the 'codes") or anything else, when I have put the battery back after a month or so. A question - If however, when you disconnect the battery and want to keep a current running through the system, cannot this be done with a normal trickle charger - red to positive connection and black to a good earth? - I have done this with a BMW 3 series, which are much more susceptible to interruptions in the electrical supply to the vehicles systems
  7. It's worth buying a reader to check the alternator charging rate at idle and when you rev the car also test the battery with a multimeter you don't want to be stranded in winter with a flat battery
  8. Just for interest - how many kms has the car done?
  9. very handy when reversing into a narrow garage
  10. That was my understanding - but the person on the other Forum said no and I am not an expert
  11. it's on the Bike Forum UKGSer.com mainly interested in BMW Bikes
  12. just read this on another forum 'Once the fix is done it is done , the vehicles original map cannot be reinstalled due to the ECU being partially locked at a main dealers level of diagnostics ie via equipment that is linked into VAG UK system , a number of tuners and reputable map writers have been trying . Know of a good few vehicles that had aftermarket remaps on prior to being fixed (quite often without the owners permission when the cars were in main dealers for servicing ) . As reputable tuners always save a copy of the vehicles original map prior to doing any tuning work the owners went back to the tuners who were unable to reinstall either the original factory map or the tuned map the vehicle had installed prior to the 'fix'. The map writers have been struggling to get around the fix and writing new tuned maps that the ECU will accept."
  13. no - we are gradually moving back to the UK and we want another car to use in the UK
  14. I miss my SAAB Estate - had the HOT Petrol Aero and also the Hirsch Tuned 1.9 Diesel Estate ....... different cars .... but both v good I bought a 2009 9-3 Aero Convertible ....... which I only use in the summer months and I intend to keep it The Aero 9 5 Estate was almost a "perfect" car for me ........ just great to drive you say that the modern Skoda is "miles ahead" ............ if so my next car should be a Superb Estate, (my friend has a 170 4x4 ........ I must admit is it nice ..... but?) .... but I aught then to drive a recent Octavia or Superb, (may a little too big for me) One thing I don't miss is the petrol consumption of the SAAB SAAB's have now started to increase in value ........ try finding a good 9 3 Aero for what you would regard as reasonable money .. some are pushing £9k+ Hardly any 9 5 Aeros for sale, in good nick with reasonable miles
  15. Living in France most of the Year we are quite familiar with the Duster ....... and it is more popular in FR than UK ......... I was quite impressed with the performance of the 1,5 Diesel engine but unhappy with the build quality, rear drum brakes and almost cart spring suspension We thought about a new Duster when we bought our second Yeti - but I when I had speced the Duster up to what I wanted we managed to get a 6,000 kms 9 month old Yeti 110 for not much more. We bought the car from a Skoda dealer about 100 miles away ...... I was quite happy with his description over the phone and it was a "staff" car - in France dealers can register cars for their own use and as long as they keep them for 9 months, (I think), they buy them effectively VAT free ...... so there are usually some good deals around, if you are in luck ...... we saved Euro 7,000 off the Skoda List price with the fall in £'s new cars have become more expensive in FR v UK used cars in FR are more expensive than in the UK - like for like Anyone considered the BMW X1 - the 2,0 - 20 or 18?
  16. I part owned several motor vehicle companies, selling mainly new commercial and some new cars, all our part ex's when straight into the trade I would agree with you on one thing ....... never trust a private seller unless you know him and the car
  17. That is pretty obvious statement ........ why have you been caught out?
  18. £9k to £13k 4WD or 4x4 Manual under 40,000 miles just going through Autotrader a good used well speced Yeti 140bhp 4x4 (Diesel)...... still looks the best value Dealer List at £10k to £13k .... probably buy for £1k less what do you guys thinks?
  19. Thanks - no I did not realise but reading quite a few posts of the forum would put someone "off" a Yeti forever .......... It is a pity that cleaning the various emission parts is not a DIY job, because of access ...... I did not realise this until reading through the posts I was a SAAB fan - had 5 diesel Estates .......... and they are no longer The older Yeti we have has served us well and the newer one has been good - both diesels ........ I was seriously thinking about another - a good low mileage 170 but ...... I'm now not sure ......... I need reliability, flexibility and a good build quality ....... which the Yeti has given us in an economical vehicle with good performance ......... not sure what there is that is better than the Yeti?
  20. maybe another option to consider you say that you are thinking about buying a new Yeti have you asked the dealer, (or even Skoda direct) for a "cost to change" price for your car versus a new Yeti - they may still have the odd new Yeti in stock
  21. similar driving experiences to you Walter - 12 trips a year, ( 6 x 2) on the Autoroute back to the UK and back to near Bordeaux - 650kms each way - Yeti 4x4 and 7 years old with over 100,000 kms Did not have the fix ....... the EGR/DPF warning light has NEVER come on I don't think the car has ever "regenerated"
  22. spare wheel - I got a full sized spare wheel kit and "touch wood" I have not had to use it in 120,000 kms
  23. same here with the (Service) dealership down in Bergerac had both cars serviced in November, refused the FIX - (NOX I think the French call it), quite an event with the secretary who typed out the usual French "Statement" for me to sign which covered one side of an A4 sheet had to write in my fair hand the usual "lu et approuve" before my signature and they said that they would send it to VW (interestingly he said that no-one else had refused "the FIX" and that they had not had any problems resulting from such, he mumbled something about "the English" to the secretary)
