  1. well the merc is lovely but not faultless, hand/footbrake is rubbish and the gearbox is not particularly sporty. the main reason i want to change is cost, its costing me £250 a month in BIK tax and i sacrifice a £7k annual allowance. The mercedes is not that great on fuel either, averages 40mpg where as my previous car a passat sport 170 averaged 48 when driven harder
  2. Hi all, not been on here for rather a while, but i'm thinking of buying a new octavia vrs and would appreciate some feedback. i've got a mercedes c250 cdi sport at the moment (company car but i chose it etc so its as if its mine) and i'm wondering what the difference will be? i'm not swaying toward the petrol or diesel as long as i can get 40mpg or around that. big drop in quality and performance? Ben
  3. hope it gets the 170bhp version of the 1.4 !38bhp in a heavy lump like the new fabia will be pants
  4. bit of a different speed comparison but my standard fabia done 50-70mph in 5th in 6 secs with it remapped it does it in 3.5
  5. fair one, but your one even gets talked about on the vauxhall forums! there is nothing wrong with a fabia vRS but as standard they are not blistering off the lights and I have had my **** kicked a few times in my remapped one
  6. going for the cheapest isn't always a good idea unless you have experiance of the company, my wife has just started a new policy she got off that website that gets 100's of qoutes and the customer service is the worst I have ever heard of. They have taken 2 months worth of payments at once then sent a defualt of payment notice, all inside 2 weeks
  7. not really, torque has little to do with speed and the fabia vRS as standard isn't fast, is a good overtaking tool and a nice drive A fast car will hit 100mph in 17>secs even a highly tuned fabia won't do that
  8. I too was underwhelmed, go a lot better with a tuning box on though my wife drives mine now and I have a nice mk5 astra turbo, which kicked the *** of a nice fabia vrs earlier
  9. HI I have a problem with my nearside side light, it doesn't work and has no voltage at the bulb. but the check control doesn't beep or light up, but when I take the fuse for the light out the check control beeps and lights up So is it a problem between the switch and check control? or check control and fuse box? I don't know how the check control works on a skoda many thanks Ben
  10. do you think it was a 316 with m3 badges?
  11. well I have a few cars and a tuned vRS is one, I like it but there is no way it could keep up with a e36 m3, I have a tuned calibra turbo that just about keeps up with an m3 and it is hugely faster than my fabia, so the only way someboday would think that there vrs is as good point to point an an m3 is if he is not using the full potential of his m3
  12. shows the guy doesn't know how to drive an m3 then
  13. silver van, niceer drive than my fabia vrs, just not as fast :(
  14. vauxhall forums haven't been a lot of good on this one
  15. Hi all, I currently looking to get a bit more power out of my van, anyone able to reccomend a company to do me a remap? cheers Ben
  16. they didn't actually make a nova 16v, so if it was a 16v it was put in as a replacment and it would be much faster than a 1.4 fabia
  17. I too find it difficult to get good 0-60 times, car is very fast between 30-70 (6.5 secs by GPS) and 50 70mph in 5th gear ( 4.1 secs by GPS) my car is not fast off the lights
  18. this is a very funny thread! having bought my Fabia vRS after reading all the rave reviews and what exotic cars it can beat I was to be honest a bit disapointed as standard the handling is average and the performance not as good as I thought it was going to be. But after fitting eibach springs 17" alloys and a tuning box it is more what I want, I average 45mpg with mixed driving have no problems with the brakes and quite like it If mpg wasn't as issue I would have bought a civic type r or a Leon cupra R though
  19. I test drove bot st220 and st tdci a couple of weeks ago when my company car was in for a service, liked them both but found the petrol had heavy fuel consumption and the tdci had a very small power band, for the price differnce between a 130bhp tdci zetec it wasn't that much faster looks a lot nicer though
  20. Disconnected my battery to fit my dragon tuning box and now my heater controls are back to front, any quick remedy or is it a recalibration job? cheers Ben
  21. Hi all, has anyone got a wiring diagram showing the side light wiring, or know it route/connection? my sidelight is not working, have changed the bulb so not that and not getting a live at the headlamp, fuse is ok and is getting power cheers Ben
  22. fair points guys, if I had wanted an ibiza though I would have bought one ( in fact would have got leon with the pd 150 engine and cupra r body kit ) I thought the engines were identical other than the turbo and intercooler?
  23. my mates bought one of these and when we was out earlier he was definatly pulling away from me:( When I fit my dragon tuning box will I be able to keep up or is more money going to have to be spent? Ben
