  1. The Apple products do have some nice features as standard like being able to use them to stream music to remote speakers and extend the range of your wireless network with WDS. They also have dual band WiFi which is not standard on other products.
  2. You broadband speed can also depend on lots of other factors http://www.choose.net/media/guide/features/broadband-speeds-explained.html Might be worth looking at providers with lower contention ratios rather than trying to contend between your own lines
  3. Length width and height wise... Yeti 4,222 x 1,956 x 1,691 Roomster 4,214 x 1,897 x 1,607 S-Cross 4,300 x 1,765 x 1,575 So it is just a but longer, but smaller width and height
  4. Can you not just connect the 2 together with an ethernet cable? What about USB, using the old machine as an external drive to the new?
  5. So after 3 years and 25,500 miles I have traded in my Roomster. Have to say it has been an excellent car and very difficult to find something with anything like the spec for the money. I think it must have known it's days were numbered as a week before it went I had the LCD screen go blank. Fortunately it recovered itself, and checking posts on Briskoda helped me to know what was going on. Apart from that can't fault the car DSG is the best robotised clutch system I have used. If anyone comes across an 11 plate, blue Roomster with about 25k on the clock, front fogs and climate control then you are getting a great car. This is not really a replacement for the Roomster as it is nowhere near as versatile but it is something you don't see too many of at the moment and is what I now own... A Suzuki S-Cross in SZ5 trim. Many thanks to everyone on Briskoda for making the last 3 years so informative and fun, this is definitely one of, if not the best motoring community I have encountered online.
  6. We were at an event yesterday and there were announcements over the tannoy about people leaving their dogs in cars. 1st announcement said police and animal protectection were being informed. 2nd announcement said police will now break into your car to let the dog out. Great cheers and approval from the crowd at both of these suggestions.
  7. A friend who is a dog breeder told me that when you get to 3 you start to get some pack behaviour with 1 of the animals trying to be pack leader and potentially fighting it out with the previous dominate dog. If you can make all 3 aware that YOU are the pack leader then this can be controlled. Don't know if this will happen but just something to be aware of.
  8. What components are you including in those prices? Just getting Office software on a PC will cost you at least £60 a year or around £150 to purchase outright. Pages, Numbers and Keynote are included in the price of an iMac. This is from an article discussing how much the parts in a 2006 iMac cost... Source http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/iSuppli_Intel_iMac_Carries_873_Worth_of_Parts If it was me I would go for the highest spec you can afford. I am still running a 12 year old G4 Mac tower and it loads and runs the copy of Office from about 5 years ago faster than the newer machine with the newer versions.
  9. Don't forget these guys who think the Roomster is a hotel room www.youtube.com/embed/3cy3gKwirLk Discussed on this post http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/254882-swiss-roomster-camper/?hl=%2Broomster+%2Bcamper#entry2992875
  10. Just goes to show what happens when you hire The Stig as your wedding planner :peek:
  11. We take our Westie to the groomers and it can be like a visit to the hairdresser where you specify if you want a traditional groom style (like a show style) or just an all over trim. We also use the groomer for jobs like claw trimming where it is possible to cut them too short and draw blood.
  12. I have found ambient temp make a difference to MPG figures, take a big dip in the winter. Best in warmer weather around 60mph.
  13. I would also make sure any wireless device is dual band 2.4GHz and 5GHz. If you are going down the iPad route have a look at an Apple AirPort Express for £80 or less, you get the ability to stream audio and share a printer.
  14. Another way to create a secure password is using a phrase rather than 1 word and use mixed case, numbers and punctuation. Takes longer to hack something with 20 characters than something with 5.
  15. Seeing as Spring is nearly upon us you could put some nice bedding plants around the boarder of the lawn, maybe a nice string of nails, this might help to keep his car on the road and off the grass. Sadly there is not much you can do about neighbours from hell except generate a log of incidents and keep an evidence trail, cctv pics etc. This does of course seem to be going OTT but if anything major happens down the line you only have your word against the other party.
  16. I would be writing to the dealer, copy to SUK telling them what your are prepared to accept and when you will reject the car as non repairable. As long as you give them a reasonable set of terms then there is no reason for them not to pull their finger out. For example a letter stating you will give them 4 weeks to resolve all issues with your vehicle and will only accept a loan car of the same or higher specification whilst you are waiting is not unreasonable. After that time you will reject the car as not fit and non repairable.
  17. Might even be something as simple as an identity theft scam. Every job I have applied for recently has required a copy of my passport (to prove I can work in the UK) and some other form of ID (usually with my address on it). I would take a pic of the "boss" and send all my evidence off to the fraud squad.
  18. Not really a legal response more a practical one. For the sake £370 I would probably not waste my time and effort. Not sure how much time you will spend or have spent chasing the money but if you factor in what you earn per hour you may find it costs you more in time than you would recoup. It also sounds like the the less contact you have with this guy the better unless you would prefer to have communication between you continue. The other side of things is, if there was no formal agreement how did you show the rent payments against your income and would pursuing the matter get questions asked about this.
  19. My wife had a very bad experience at the job centre a few years ago. We had just relocated and she signed on whilst job hunting (to not miss any NI payments). At one appointment we were made to wait over an hour before being seen and my wife need to use the ladies. My wife was told there were no toilet facilities available for the public on site, despite there being a disabled toilet in plain view. She asked if she could use the disabled toilet and was told no, she then asked if her appointment could be moved by 15 mins so she could pop over to the local supermarket to use their loo and was told she would then have been classed as missing her appointment and have to start her application process from scratch. We did point out to the person dealing with us that my wife was being discriminated against for being able bodied but we were just told, tough.
  20. Maybe if every stopped subscribing to Sky and BT Sports packages they would have to cut the wage bills?
  21. You could look at things another way and think would you want to work for a company that treats people with such disdain or is not organised enough to have a response procedure in place? The other thing is companies run at such lean staff levels that it only takes 1 person in the recruitment chain to be on holiday for the whole process to grind to a halt until they return.
  22. Three seats in the back is not a problem, I used to have 1 ISOFix and 2 standard boosters. It was a squeeze but can be done, it's all about where you position the outer seats relative to the centre.
  23. There is not really a trick just work out where the power band is. With the DSG box the revs are kept above 2,000 when you want power and closer to 1,000 for economy.
  24. They are putting a 1.4 TSI engine in the Rapid Spaceback, the 122ps version. So maybe just shifting which models the engine is used in.
  25. Hob temperatures when boiling a pan of water are approximately: Induction, 110 deg C Electric Ceramic, 350 deg C Gas, 450 deg C Induction hobs are 95% energy efficient, gas is the lease energy efficient fuel. All heat on the induction surface is residual from the base of the pan no heat is generated under the glass, as with a ceramic element. Not sure why a cat can't tell if something is hot before walking on it, this would seem like a major sensory design fault if they can't.
