  2. I got it from Steveopc/Skyhawk a while ago. Wasnt a cheap one from ebay. But it was cheap.
  3. My door deadlocked and i had to replace the whole mechanism. After doing so my door lock doesnt actually lock anymore. When i arm the alarm, if i open the door, the alarm goes off. But the door itself doesnt lock. Is there any way to program the door lock? Do i have to do something in order to get the door synchronised with the other doors? Currently have the whole door stripped down, so want to get it back up and working. any help would be appreciated. thanks
  4. If i stick with my Mk1 VRS 16's, i was thinking of putting 195/45/16 tyres on the car as opposed to 205/45/16 Is that a problem?
  5. Apologies, should have added that my Fabia is a 1.4 16V 2005 Estate thanks in advance Pedro
  6. Just a quick one, i am buying some tyres and have narrowed it down to 2 brands. 195/45/16 84W Yokohama S Drive AS01 or 195/45/16 R16 87W Toyo Proxes T1-R Also i have Mk1 VRS 16in alloy wheels. Should i go for the 195's or the 205's ? I know that one is 10mm narrower..... The other difference is the price between them approx £40 or £10 per tyre. What is the difference? Does anyone have any words of wisdom? thanks Pedro
  7. Was looking at potentially changing my rims. Saw some that are 17in 7J, 5 x 100 but have an ET30 Is that a problem? I have a 2005 1.4 16V Mk1 Estate Also what would be the correct tyre size for them that would fit under me arches. thanks
  8. That looks sweet. Any more pics? How do i get in touch with Matt? ta
  9. How easy is it to graft a VRS Mk1 Rear Bumper onto a Mk1 estates rear bumper. What is required? Cut and paste job? Who has done this before? Please share your thoughts and experiences thanks
  10. It sounds like your solenoid has gone. You can open manually from inside. Drop the rear seats, climb into the back, remove the plastic cover over the lock/catch at the bottom. Pull the catch to the left and the boot pops open. You will need another person to open it from the outside. Good Luck
  11. I am looking for one with a cut so i can have my exhaust exposed. Maybe get a standard fabia mk 1 vrs bumper or just get a mk 2 diffuser as in the picture.... But i may have to graft the two parts together. Can anyone who has already done this to a combi/estate please confirm what the process was and if they have documented it? thanks
  12. The diffuser is from a Fabia Mk 2. http://milotec.de/index.php?cat=c323_Rear-spoiler.html&XTCsid=66aa2286437c64e8e2094f4a8614d6b7
  13. I've been thinking of doing something to the rear of my estate too. Only problem is what to do? A Mk1 VRS rear bumper conversion would be good, but its a cut and paste job from what i can gather. A lick of paint too. I have a nice tail piece that i've had for ages and no-one has been willing to fit it for me. It would obviously need the bumper to be cut to allow the exhaust to come straight out. Many places said it was too fiddly and aren't bothered. Whatever option you do chose you will need time, effort and money. Time and effort i have, but money........ Its handy if you have a mate or two, but alas I'm Pedro no mates! Keep us updated whichever path you choose.
  14. thanks Softscoop! i have been trying to drill out the rivets. Have done about half, and now charging drill. I have just also seen that it looks like the panel itself is stuck to the door with some form of white sealant. I've read about the door being leaky and i suspect that the last owner has sealed these. i've already had to remove the left side door panel and that wasnt pretty. It still hasnt been put back after 3 months as the door dead locked. The old door panel was a mangled mess. In the process i riveted out the supports for the window..... I have bought a new one, but havent fitted it as yet because my replacement lock doesnt seem to work correctly. The wiring appears to be slightly different. I have to address this issue then get the door panel back on. Also, someone decided to dent front fender. In order to fix this they have to colour match the door. As there is also a very small dent in the door, i've left the panel off so then can fix it accordingly. And i've just replaced the entire exhaust from the front all the way to the back.
  15. thanks for that. It looks like my door panel;s are riveted on! What a pain in the butt. Do i have to replace: the whole door panel? Motor too? just the plastic clippy bits? the two long guides and cables? or everything? thanks
  16. Oh dear, tyres will have to wait as my drivers window has just decided to fall into the door! thanks for the replies!
  17. Morning all, jumped into the car this morning and was about to leave for the hospital (was taking my son for a CT Scan) when i pressed the button for the drivers window and the window just dropped into the door. I have managed to get the window up about 66% but it wont come up any further. I haven't yet removed the door panel but i'm assuming that i'm going to have to do that. Any help and advice would be appreciated. thanks i advance.
  18. I need to replace 2 tyres on my 05 1.4 16V estate. I'm currently running standard alloys, but want to put back my VRS 16 inch Spiders. There are so many options and i dont know which to choose from. If money wasnt an issue, which tyres would you buy in order from best to worst. On a budget, which are the best budget tyres? thanks in advance.
  19. My brother in law is driving his 2004 1.2 Fabia Mk1 Estate from London to Mongolia (11651 miles and 17 countries) next month to raise funds for Charity and for the experience. http://goan-gypsies.com/ We are trying to get his car prepared for the journey and need to get another key with built in fob. Besides the Main Skoda Dealers, does anyone make spare keys as my BIL only has the one. They are also looking for Sponsors. If anyone is interested in Sponsoring them or just showing some support please see: http://goan-gypsies.com/ thanks
  20. Good evening Ladies and Gents, my 1.4 16V has been blowing for a little while and i was putting it off for as long as possible but this last weekend it has gotten really loud. I went to STS in Hemel Hempstead and after they'd had a look, they quoted me £565. I almost fell off the chair! It is blowing badly from the flexible section and the back box is also in need of desperate replacement. I was told that the CAT and the flexible are one piece and this has to be replaced. No point in replacing the front and the back and not doing the middle. Also it appears to be the original exhaust system. So it means that pretty much the whole system has to be replaced. I do not have much to spend but it is one of those things that needs to be done. Are there any cheaper performance exhausts for the 1.4 16V? Maybe a mix and match? TBH i am happy with the standard exhaust, but a little more growl wouldn't go amiss. However, I would like a nice tail piece. I bought one ages ago but it never got fitted as the normal exhaust end bends downwards and the last time i went around to a few exhaust places, none of them said that they could fit it. I think it also needs a small length of pipe to extend it from the bend to where it can join the tail piece. Yes it would also mean cutting some of the bottom of the bumper so the tail piece could protrude, and i'm fine with that. If i was to buy the bits separately, is there anyone close by that would be able to fit it for me and approx how much? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
