  1. The motor is behind the glove box. It’s a bit fiddly. Not sure if there are any Youtube vids. It might be worth a look.
  2. I should have updated this thread. When I turned on the fan to full it still wouldn’t work properly, then it would stop, sometimes it would come on when I turned a corner and then go off. I decided it was the fan and not the resistor. I ordered a new one from TPS for £250. I don’t usually buy aftermarket parts and I was told there wasn’t one available anyway. Not sure if this is the case. Anyway I decided to fit it myself which took about 40 mins and wasn’t difficult. I’d done two before on a MK1. It was clear that the bearings had failed on the one I took out so I made the right call by going for the fan. As the car had done 106 000 Miles there was no chance of a warranty claim. I did thinks £250 was a bit steep but I have to have a working fan. Hope this info helps. My skoda dealer had quoted £350 but they couldn’t do it for two weeks.
  3. Exactly the same thing happened to me. Bulb blown whilst having a Taxi test.
  4. Hi just a quickie. Is the heater blower motor on my mk3 behind the glovebox. And is it an easy change? I’ve changed them on a MK1 but not on a Mk3. thanks in advance for any replies.
  5. I've got this same problem with mine. At 54000 mls. I've logged it as a problem with the dealer and hope to get it fixed when I come back off holiday. It's happened twice in 5 days but seems to right itself but I'd like it done before the warranty is up. I'll post up the results when I know what the fix was.
  6. I don't why but this made me laugh so much my head hurt. My wife and daughter can't see the funny side. It's probably because when I picked up the car the first thing I did was open the petrol cap and demand a new scraper as there wasn't one there. Glad I'm not the only one. Nearly said oddball but I didn't want to offend.
  7. I've had this before from a dealership. Discs and pads need replacing I got forty thousand out of the discs and twenty from the pads. I also had it on tyres.
  8. I found my iPod touch 6 weeks ago after being lost to me for about 4 years. It's a first generation with over 1600 songs on it which I hadn't backed up anywhere. Couldn't believe it when it connected via Bluetooth and worked. I just put it on shuffle and let it do its thing. It works great.
  9. I've just had a DPF replaced under warranty. The cause was a faulty turbo which was also replaced under warranty. The frightening thing for me was that the car did 300 miles from when the initial fault light came on which was the coil symbol. We don't know how long the turbo was faulty before the light came on. Either way it didn't take long before the DPF was so clogged that it was unable to be regenerated. My feeling is that if the engine is running 100% then you'll be fine. If for any reason it isn't it doesn't take long for a DPF to be ruined.
  10. Now joined. A well spent £12. Many thanks.
  11. Just a quick update got the car back Saturday . Skoda have replaced the turbo, and put a new DPF filter in. Although it has taken a little bit longer than I would have liked at least it has been replaced and documented. Although the car has only done 40000 I think I will be replacing it by the end of the year. If it hadn't been covered under warranty I would have been well and truly screwed.
  12. Went to the dealer the dealer this morning and I have to say they couldn't have been more helpful. I spent a good half hour with the head guy going through the diagnostics which he explained very clearly. Turns out it is the turbo . The actuator arm offered very little resistance and was loose and rattled. This has led to the sooting up of the DPF. They are going to replace the Turbo, regen the DPF. They have taken on board my concerns that the DPF may have had its life shortened but we have agreed to see what happens when the turbo is replaced. I asked the guy if he had many turbos go at 40000 miles he replied a few. Anyway should get the car back Wednesday evening so we'll see how it goes.
  13. Well I don't think this is going well. I have been told that my car has been referred to skoda technical. I presume this means the dealer doesn't know what to do. I couldn't speak to anyone from the mechanical side as they'd gone home. The girl told me that the fault is indicating a turbo fault but couldn't tell me why. I'll go to the dealer in the morning and post the result. I've already lost confidence in the dealer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Many thanks to everyone who has posted on this forum. This fault came up on my wife's car this morning. After searching the fault I found the solution here. Checked the fuse and it's broken. Many thanks to all who contribute here it's an invaluable resource.
  15. I dropped it off this morning . Had a chat with the head guy and I'll wait and see but he agreed the initial problem not being rectified probably led to the DPF light coming on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Thanks for the reply I agree I think the initial fault has caused the DPF issue. I'll see what they say tomorrow and get a look at the bag com read out.
  17. I seem to have " developed " the DPF problem but in the wrong order that is stated here. Mine s an Octavia 1.6 tide se 14 plate with 39600 on the clock. On the 23/12/15 the flashing glow plug light came on. Called the dealer and booked it for the afternoon. Later that morning the MIL light came on and limp mode kicked in. The dealer wasn't able to find what the problem was but would look at it again on Tuesday 28/12/15. On Xmas morning the DPF light came on and the warning triangle with the owners handbook message. Despite following the instructions to the letter I can't get the triangle or any of the warning lights to go out. It would seem it now needs a " forced regen" but after reading this thread I wondered why the lights appeared in reverse order? Any ideas ?
  18. Ummmm the human rights act was only passed in 1998. The European convention of human rights came into being in 1950. I think you'll find the Human Rights Act was born from the European Convention of Human Rights. However, it could be argued that the whole thing started with the Magna Carta.
  19. Does anyone know where I could get hold of a passenger side front and rear door in Black ? Any help greatly appreciated.
  20. Thanks for the replies yes it does use a std ODB connector. Now I understand the terminology I realise my post 5 had already answered. Apologies to GregK and thanks for all the replies. I think this car is going to be a steep learning curve. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Many thanks for the replies and forgive my ignorance but where is it located? I have to have a taxi meter fitted for a pulse reading? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I'm just about to take delivery of a 1.6 TDI SE manual transmission. Can anyone tell me if it has a Canbus and if so where it is located. To be frank I don't really no what one is so will probably spend the day finding out. Any help much appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Good point about the wire! When I did my passenger window I put the door card back on only to find I hadn't put the wire back in properly. Frustrating. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I did mine on Monday about an hour. While the regulator is out its worth greasing the regulator wires as they are prone to rust. When the job is done turn the ignition on and off. Then turn it on and move the window to the top. Then keep the switch in the up position for three seconds this sets the upper limit for the motor. Hope that's clear enough. Good luck.
  25. Octavia 1.9TDI AXR 346000 miles I've had some boost issues lately error code 17964. I've eradicated N75 and don't have and leaks in the tubing. So I set aside yesterday to do the Mr Muscle treatment. But I thought I'd check the EGR before I started and this is what I found. The pipe to the EGR cooler was also blocked with black soot. Cleaned out the whole lot had the EGR checked on a " live test"and it still works. Still have the boost problem and now I'm blowing white smoke instead of black which in an odd way makes me feel happier. I'll clean the turbo next week and I have a feeling the intercooler could do with a clean. So that's my Monday sorted.
