  1. *Bump*. I've managed to get Looker's Skoda to offer me £8000 for the car. Not a bad price - but I thought I'd give the community one last shot to see if there are any takers who can trump this. I would really like it to go to a good home Mileage is now 24903. You won't find another Mk2 vRS with this many added extras and in such good condition.
  2. Nope - so far so good with the oil. I top it up probably 3 or 4 times a year - a litre each time, when the oil warning light pops up. I don't know if this is considered excessive in the community? I get Castrol Edge 5W-40. At £12 a litre from asda it's not an expense I notice over the year.
  3. Hi all, Seriously contemplating selling my little green hornet. Not sure what demanded is like on the market at the moment, hence this post. Reason for sale is that my wife is learning to drive - and we only have room and need for one car, so time to downsize for a while to something she can drive when she's passed her test. I won't offend anyone's intelligence by reeling off all the specs which you are probably well aware of since you're here! So here are the important bits: A 2011 (11-plate) Skoda Fabia vRS Hatch. Green with Black roof and Chrome alloys. It's also the facelift model with black grill & headlights, plus iRC stickers. Grey stitching interior. - Owned outright - no finance - can prove with my Looker's receipt my end. - I am the only owner from new, and a sensible member of the emergency services (get to drive fast legally at work ) - 24030 on the clock. I add about 100 each week. - No smokers or pets have ever seen the inside. The car has a full service history from Skoda, and has its 2014 dealer service due soon (would be complete prior to sale as already paid for). Tax is up end of June this year. - All 4 wheels currently mint condition as replaced under warranty in feb '14 by Skoda due to corrosion); - Amundsen Sat Nav / Multimedia centre; - Rear parking sensors; - Climatronic Air Conditioning; - Heated Seats; - Arm Rest; - Spare wheel in boot compartment; As you can see it's almost fully loaded with added extras. You'll do well to find another one on autotrader to this spec. Besides a few tiny scuffs near the boot release button, and the odd barely noticeable stone chip - I have worked extremely hard (much to my wife's chargrin) keeping the bodywork scratch and dent free by parking well away from any other cars when parking at Tesco's / shopping centres etc. I have not tinkered or modded the car in any way other than replacing the headlight bulbs with OSRAM Hyper cool bulbs so they are White in colour to match the DRLs / sidies. Number plate currently has a 'VRS' suffix - but I might retain this as it was a gift. I can't currently find the 2nd key. I believe it's buried in the loft somewhere as I moved November '13. If I can't find it I will either re-order a new one or make the necessary adjustments to the asking price. Parker's value my vehicle with 20k on the clock at £10,301, and £9,811 for 30k. My asking price, should I get the courage to proceed and let her go: £9750. Depending how long it's been for sale, I would entertain sensible offers, but sorry not interested in Part-Ex. I'm based on the Stockport / Manchester border - near to the M56 / M60. PM me for any further info or to discuss anything further. Thanks for reading! George
  4. The green colour would not be illegal as long as it doesn't flash - and as long as it isn't the dipped beam or sidelight. Red is illegal at the front whatever and would have to be for show use anyway.
  5. There's at least one unmarked 61 plate fabia vRS in GMP now - saw it at Openshaw being prep'd with emergency equipment.
  6. I find the 25% setting is too warm after about 10-15 mins. 100% feels really hot after about 2 or 3 minutes and I only use it as a "boost" before switching back down to to 25%.
  7. Let us know what the van driver gets at the magistrates court for that little mishap!
  8. I used to periodically use redex on my old vehicle - which was not a performance car like my vRS. I've just done 4000 miles and already put another litre of oil in. Im just wondering if anyone uses redex... and would it be suitable for the 1.4 TSi. Im thinking that because I put 99 ron super unleaded in now it might already have all the necessary additives to keep everything clean. Cheers Silv
  9. Pros: - Added comfort in any journey; - Extra storage - especially for charging phones/ipods etc due to location of 12v socket. - Re-sale appeal (although minor :p ) Cons: - Accessibility of handbrake is restricted (although this isnt a problem as most people ignore the highway code and hold the footbrake - something I try to avoid at night due to brakelight dazzle); - Obstructs reaching into the back to get something out of a shopping bag/lugguage etc. - Even folded up I bash my elbow sometimes - although I have long arms. - The missus huffs everytime she has to spend 2 extra seconds putting her seatbelt on. More cons than pros but quality over quantity etc That all said I love mine and glad I have it
  10. I hit the 4k mark the other day and decided to top up with Castrol Edge - 5w-40 502.00 - £12 from ASDA. Freakishly, when I got back in the car with my shopping the oil light came on! - as if it knew. All running smooth now though. Can't beat asda!
  11. They look pure white. And the offence for a non-E marked bulb is so obscure I doubt anyone has ever been pulled up on it because common sense suggests if it does the job and conforms to every other law - which is does (it works/its white/its maintained/it doesnt dazzle) then no issues.
  12. I have gone for the "Hyper" blues by Osram too - best looking bulbs imho - although if you live in the countryside not the brightest but no issue for me as im in Manchester. Not technically 'E' stamped so illegal by definition only; but there's nothing with them that is actually illegal in the road vehicle lighting regulations in uk law - so no problems with MOT / Police etc. Very good beam pattern so no spraying like HIDS.
  13. It's cold because you just started the car..... the filaments haven't had time to warm up. Only in prestige cars does it work straight away.
  14. Nice... it's the estate version of my hatch in every way bar the black roof. I have the same extras too. ordered 1 month before you... and got the car 3 months quicker. Ah well its there now. Enjoy
  15. Never been an issue... and I fill when the needle nears or teeters on red....never goes anywhere near dry if the reserve is in there.
  16. I mentioned noticing this too in another thread last week and it was pooh-pooh'ed by others - looks like I am exonerated
  17. This is encouraging - I need to take my vRS back to Lookers Stockport because i've just noticed the heated seat switched are the wrong sides of the console. I'll ask about the alarm bleep and anti-hijack things as well
  18. Hi all, Im wondering if anyone has experienced a similar issue to mine. I've got nearly 2500 on the clock now on my 11-plate vRS which i've had since July (and still bloomin' loving). Last week, prior to a long drive from Manchester to London - I stopped to fuel up with the tank on about a quarter full. After getting only 20 or so litres in the nozzle kept clicking off as if the tank was full - but clearly it wasn't as I know these vRS have a bigger tank than the average 45 litre hatches out there. Anyway, I gave up trying to get more fuel in and set off. The guage did show full (but this is an illusion im sure you're all aware of) - and it started it descent to zero-dom after only 30-odd miles (which is too soon for motorway driving and thus confirming I could have put a lot more in). Today, on the return trip and with the tank showing a quarter full again... I got the same clicking of the nozzle again half way through. I persevered and eventually got £60 on Shell V-power in the bloody thing - but the tank was hissing at me like a snake. Clearly the pressure is trying to escape - but I thought modern cars had an internal mechanism to allow you to fuel fast and in one go without letting air escape. Anyway, a bit strange, and hoping it doesn't keep happening. Any thoughts. p.s. I usually use Tesco momentum 99 - but today I used V-Power and I've done 220miles with the tank still showing 5/8ths full (it didnt budge from full until I did past 160 miles) - cracking stuff.
  19. Im guessing by "Speed Cop" you mean Traffic or Roads Policing Officer.
  20. Ok, nearly 3 weeks and 1000 miles since I took delivery of my VRS. Love the car to pieces. Best performing thing I've ever owned and I know I got a great car for £15.5k when it should have been £19k. I did a 500 mile round trip this weekend past from Manchester->London-> Surrey->Manchester: what can I say awesome. The amundsen+ is a nice piece of kit. I love being able to copy and paste my itunes onto an SD card and plug & go. The DSG box is great. Either im very lucky or have just gotten used to the "lag" and I barely notice it now when driving. I've had no problems with other motorists mistaking the DRLs for fogs; I think a lot of Joe public are starting to cotton on to DRLs now. A few observations and minor criticisms though... - Fuel gauge calibration. I know its been mentioned... but the fact that it stays on full for nearly a 100 miles then dives down is a bit of a nuisance. It makes planning for long journeys difficult because you don't know just how "full" full is. - Front tires feel like they're scrubbing when turning at slow speed (although im sure they'll wear in). - Heated seat switches appear to have been wired incorrectly. They're on opposite sides of the stick to the corresponding seats. - Rubbish stock headlight bulbs - but since replaced with Osram Hyper white 5000k bulbs and now they look mint. - Oil temperature hits 99 oC pretty quick when on the motorway. Is this normal? It never goes above 99 which is worrying as I feel like its too hot. - Speedometer. Is it 100% accurate? I know most older cars over-calibrate to display 3 or 4 mph above true speed which becomes apparent when using with a sat nav. All I can think of for now but all I know it that I wouldn't swap it for anything else on the market
  21. In the fabia manual it says something similar to "Warning - never drive on sidelights alone. Risk of accident. Dipped headlights should be used with any kind of fading light." I however switch to sidies when light is a little poor because the DRLs are quite bright and I don't want to upset jo public.
  22. Yep technically a "private plate" - although just a bog standard format and pretty cheap.
  23. My Mean Green Machine which I collected yesterday. First green/black/chrome combo on here with the black pack? LOVE IT.
