  1. The interior is like brand new...not even the slightest hint of wear n tear.
  2. Yea but i like to be up front and honest....if it puts people off then so be it...its one less thing for the next owner to worry about. If I advertise it away from Briskoda then I wouldnt mention it, but as its here I wouldnt want to be accused of hiding things or selling a dodgy car
  3. Slightly more than i was expecting....so £3900 for a quick sale wouldnt be unreasonable?....better put an add together for the for sale section.
  4. Time has come to get rid of the Fabia vRS so I am after a rough idea on price, I dont now weather to sell or part ex it. Its a 2005 vRS in Yellow currently at 99,350 miles. Xenon headlights Its as far as i know totally standard or standard spec Its had - New radiator, water pump, header tank. Head gasket has been done, New Garret standard spec turbo, new valve stem oil seals, new injector seals, brand new cam shaft, cam belt, the interior fan relay has been replaced...all electronics work as they should. New drop links, brakes over hauled new front wheel bearings. Engine pressure tested all comes back OK. No rust what so ever...been well looked after bodywork wise. The car drives great, pulls really well in all gears at all revs. Couple of bad points...slightly smokey on start up which goes almost immediately and dosnt return for the rest of the day. Knocking from front passenger wheel when going over bumps...I suspect console bush things (or what ever they call them), couple of stone chips on the front. Is it worth selling privately (if so whats it worth?) or part ex it????
  5. Sorry to say the Fabia vRS is the most unreliable car I have owned....in the 2 years I have owned it it has had the cooling system completely replaced, 2 turbos, head gasket, cam shaft, injectors, 2 cam belts, 4 expansion tanks half the intercooler pipework replaced, steering rack......I am just waiting for the next thing to go wrong. My highly modified Celica has never let me down, covered 230,000 miles and still runs like a dream.
  6. Well I think its all finally sorted now, two new turbos later its nearly working as it should....just keeps blowing turbo to intercooler pipes off. Who ever owned this car before me should be banned from owning a car ever again.
  7. I had this as my daily driver for about 5 years before the vRS (i still have it but it gets used about once a month now) 340+BHP its alot of fun....I have another one which I am rebuilding as a rally car.....should be even more fun
  8. Well, over a grand later, a new cam shaft, various seals, head bolts, skimmed head & new head gasket its so far so good. I wont go as far as to say its fixed...not yet anyway. A few teething issues...for some strange reason the power band has moved about 500rpm up the rev range....odd. fingers crossed thats the end of it.
  9. I.d go for the Vauxhall Astra 888 diesel, a classic Mini or a Triumph GT6. Depending on where I'm working.
  10. Well some months later and nearly £2000 spent the problem still persists. If I ever meet the former owner of this car The turbo went about 6 months ago so replaced it with a garret. still the water problem. everything has been replaced. Turns out it was the head gasket which is currently being replaced as i type. But along with that the cams are worn and need replacing so £1000 to fix all that. Hopefully that will be the end of it otherwise it will be the end of my Skoda ownership for ever. To keep me busy I purchased another Celica GT4 which I have stripped to a bare shell and turning into a rally car....idle hands and all that
  11. OH well a bit of good news...turns out its possibly not a buggered turbo...just limp/get me home mode (apparently) cause still remains undetermined, but its in the hands of a local garage now so hopefully it will be all fixed soon. Anyone want a yellow Fabia vRS....its got Xenons
  12. I'll take it to the garage tomorrow then and see whats what......get it fixed then its bye bye Skoda...I've had enough of it....sorry Skoda Fans. Many thanks for all the help
  13. I cant find any signs of a blown off pipe. I cant hear the turbo spooling when I rev the car.
  14. Where do i start...this damn car has been a pain since day one. After finally getting the disappearing cooling water problem sorted another problem has cropped up. Driving home tonight...accelerating off a round about theres a strange Pufttttt noise, nothing loud but smoke out the exhaust and then no power. No apparent turbo spool at all, but no power what so ever, it does drive now with no noise or smoke unless engine under strain. Tick over is fine, no rattles or strange noises. No sign of a turbo pipe being blown off but the inlet pipe does have a nice coating of oil inside it. Although when I took one of the inlet pipes off the sound coming from within sounds like a bag of spanners. Just about at the end of my tether with this car.
  15. I`d just stick a standard filter in...instead of spending £100 on a PD160, why not just buy some ducting (Not the silver foil stuff)unless you want to keep it standard looking in the engine bay, in which case visit a scrap yard and pick one up for a tenner. Enclosed cone filters are OK and will do the job fine...but they are overpriced for what they are...I made one once using a Generic fit cone filter, an old empty plastic paint tin covered in black sticky backed plastic and some ducting...sounds a bit "bodge it n scarper", but it looked spot on.
  16. I agree.....standard filters have the best filtration and will flow more than enough air to feed a diesel. If you must go for an aftermarket Filter then a BMC, Green or K&N cotton panel filter are the next best but excess oil on them (especially after cleaning) can cause problems...try to avoid foam filters, poor filtration and have a tendency to break up when they get old, although they are not as bad as the metal mesh filters.
  17. OK...back from Donnington (a bit sun burned)and all is still well....so as a result I am claiming success and a fixed vRS. Many thanks to all those who have helped, it has been very much appreciated...a bit of a baptism by fire into Briskoda.net but so far so good.
  18. Cheers, Me too bud.....took it for a good thrash and so far so good, no coolant loss to speak of, everything running fine. Off to Donnington tomorrow for the SeeRed classic car racing...if I make it through the day without having to "Top up" I will claim success. 300+ miles so far.
  19. OK, hopefully this will be my last entry on this subject......replaced the radiator with a new one after the old new one split.....water pump replaced as the flow was crap on the old one, timing belt changed etc etc.......130 miles and so far so good. Fingers crossed thats the end of it so for those following...two main culprits where - Blocked Radiator & faulty water pump.
  20. Please all musicians keep a lookout for some stolen equipment, a c-mark power amp, dw bass drum pedal, various zildjian cymbals, pearl snare drum, LED lighting, gator pedal board, which inside was tech 21 classic, korg tuner, boss dd3 and rv5 and octave pedals, vox wah wah which is in colours of the union jack (very rare) akg drum mic, shure beta 58s and a drum stool....stolen from inside the van when parked up at a gig......Please pass this on to any suitable forums..... Many Thanks Nial
  21. Once the system is flushed and clean, can any type of coolant be used? I use Toyota pre mixed red "for life" coolant in my other cars and its great stuff...would like to use it in the Fabia if it wont hurt it.
  22. Its a tuff one to check....a visual check with the radiator on the car will show nothing...at least it didnt on mine, even though I have seen water spurting out of the radiator, when its not, I cant find the hole or any signs of a leak. Probably removing the radiator or actually catching the leak in progress is the only way of identifying the problem. Has anyone tried this Holts 2 step rad flush stuff or know if its any good? Many Thanks to everyone for all your help with this.....at least it looks like its a simple fix....fingers crossed.
  23. OK...its getting even odder. The low fluid level light came on again.....so dived into a garage and opened the bonnet to see a jet of water shooting from the drivers side of the radiator....bugger.......90 miles from home...will I make it......4 top ups later and still 20 miles to go....strangely enough the next 20 miles pass without any coolant loss at all :S I have come to the conclusion that the previous owner had the hole in the radiator so filled it with radweld......this has gunked up the cooling system and lead to the problems I`m having.....the cooling loss is water escaping, then the radweld reblocking the hole up.........having had the radiator flushed there is less radweld in the system, thus the visible water fountain sparying itself over the alternator belt until a bit of radweld blocked the hole up once again If this dosnt sort it it will be the end of Skoda ownership for me and I`ll go back to Jap cars as I`ve had enough.
  24. No signs of any escaping water/coolant? Its due a timing belt change soon, so I will change the water pump then!!!
