  1. Hi guys been Woking away , hence no response. Why did I get the VRS , because I like it at the time and always had fast cars except for the disco 3 , plus the missus can only drive an auto , already have 1 auto (but just in case , got another) really enjoyed the dsg and both this and the 1.4 RSI are cracking but just not for me. Why sell- ride comfort got a little harsh , I have a 1 year old now and to be honest don't drive THAT fast anymore. Also tyres of the rattles cracks creaks and roadmoise. Also the Cabin and interior , seems a little cheepesq . But I still think the vrs is a cracker and she will be missed. Why the duke . I got the 1.6 DIG-T tekna with all the trimmings (only 10 month old) build quality is tons better the car really has a solid feel. Great car , comfort, power, plenty of kit and more room for us 3 . Colour - White (had to be) The deal- well without saying too much my vrs cost me just over 13k with the 20% discount + a tiny bit more discount - dealer trade in £12.5 so not too bad plus he wanted 14799 for the duke and I paid - £14199. So this offsets against the other
  2. Well guys, I have part ex'd the VRS Mk11 in today for a more sensible nissan juke 1.6 DIG-t ???????? I just couldnt get on with the VRS, DSG and ride comfort so decided to sell. I would like to say that this is one of the better forums that i have had the pleasure of being a member of.
  3. I have been reading through the forum looking at headlight threads and it appears most peoples headlights on their vrs's are projectors lights with 1 bulb for both high and low beam. Now i had a look at mine today and i have 1 bulb in the low beam and a second on the inside edge of the light for full beam.(i have tested the full beam and the 2nd bulb lights, it has not been confused with the inactive side light) The dipped beam light looks similar to the projecter but why is there 2 bulbs
  4. What lights are on the VRS i'm sure there are 2 bulbs 1 dipped and full beam at the side?
  5. After curing my rattle a few days ago as mentions above I have now got the same rattle in the glove box sounds like something is catching top and bottom . I will have this apart and sorted this weekend and update
  6. I sorted this on mine last week after fitting sound deadening and Closed cell foam in all 4 door cards boot floor , and floor. The rattle comes from the plastic cover on the side of the dash near the air bag on/off switch. This and the door card meet together and causing the rattle you mention . To test, whist driving over rough road push the door card in at the end that meets the dash, Hey presto stops rattling. Make sure your door cards are full pushed back with the clips as mine were slightly loose, they needed taking off , making wider and re-fitting making sure to hit the door cards as hard as you can to get the clips to pop in.

  8. Ignore that I think I was looking at 4&6 on the above diagram and I thing the foam on 2 and 9 should be removed . Is that right
  9. Just had a look and a quick fiddle and is possible to remove this from above very tight but you can get to the clips after a few grazes in the arms . Just awkward I bet to totally remove the cover??
  10. guys , does this make a big difference to the super charger noise and would there be any detrimental effect removing this
  11. I'm looking to order a set of 4 Goodyear ultragrip 8 from camskill in 185/65/15 88t xl . For some brand new ex display mk1 octy/fabia vrs alloys I fell upon for £30 each (result)
  12. Yeah cheers Leon , popped the door handle cover off remove 2 screws and 2 at the bottom of the front door and one on the rear . Then a good pull and off she popped
  13. job complete and the car feels more solid. You can really tell a difference with road noise, although not eradicated entirely there is a noticeable reduction of. the doors feel more sturdy a lot more like the "it sounds like a Golf" advert . Stereo is tonnes better and has quietened the ride down for motorways and rattles etc. Sorry i didn't manage to take any pics but will try and take one of the boot. to give you an idea (after much research) i didn't cover every bit of the panels with Silent coat deaden-er but the best places like Bottom ,Top, and sides of the door panels , Boot floor wheel arches etc. as more that 20% coverage is a waste (apparently). Now the close cell foam, i covered most of the boot and under rear seat. Door panels i covered sections direct to the plastic panels as there isn't much room behind them (go for 3mm to cover more wish i did). for just over £150 it is a Vast improvement. The closed cell foam i used was some i had laying around called Armacel sheeting (used for air conditioning ducting) I also ordered some from a guy on ebay, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/self-adhesive-closed-cell-foam-sheets-soundproofing-/300604052999?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item45fd65d607 Go for the 3mm thickness though for space as my boot panels were tight. Although thinner wont have as good sound deadening properties you will be able to cover more area.
  14. Cost was £80 for the silent coat dampening and £70 for the closed cell foam , what I will say though is I wish I got 3mm instead of 6mm as it's tight when re- fitting the panels. Hopefully when complete tomorrow the sound from the speakers will be much better without any panel resonance.
  15. Well , done all of the boot today , door cards tomorrow. I put the recommended 25% coverage of the butyl dampener well maybe more and tried for 100% coverage of closed cell foam , however this seemed impossible so managed 80-90% but just with the boot area done there is a significant reduction in road noise (did under rear pass seat also). Think I may leave the floor as there is sOme thick foam there so pointless really . Just need to get door cards done tomorrow. As the road noice now seems to come from the doors and front foot well
  16. Hi peeps I need some guidance on how to remove the door cards and ther floor carpet in my vrs as I am fitting some sound deadening materials. I intend to fit silent coat dampening sheets and closed cell foam on top, to do away with some if the road noise , creaks and crashes. Can any one advise Thanks
  17. 295 is quite expensive I was quoted £185 by a recommended dinoc fitter from 3 m's website ??
  18. Under ground graphics is where I'm ordering from. I'm going to attempt DIY roof and spoiler wrap. Can the spoiler come off or is I glued on . Going to order enough to do roof spoiler and inside trim Anyone know the roof length off hand.
  19. Thanks 32k , 3m have release a new version of the carbon wrap that has a glossy finish looks impressive. The dash of the vrs is pretty flat, air vensts etc, don't think there is anything as curved as the one in the vid
  20. So what's the 3m di nix like , is it not that workable , their sight suggests it's good for interiors and playable with heat??? It seem expensive book looks the best of what's out there
  21. Hi everyone , I have a vrs candy White black alloys. I'm looking to get the roof wrapped and the inside dash parts/ plastic bits as well. Plus the chrome parts of the grill Thing is I can decide what to get, either carbon fibre gloss finish inside and out or gloss black. What do you guys think will look best. The vinyl will be 3m di noc Or any other colours that you think I could have , please note that whatever the roof is done in then the plasticy bits in the dash and door cards/ panels will be done Many thanks
  22. Hi Has anyone removed the resonator (front box/silencer) from the exhaust on their VRS . heard a few Vw doing this and adding a little deeper note to the exhaust . Nothing tooloud just a more sporty tone. How easy/hard would this be to do. Thanks
  23. Heres a link to a Dyno graph on the Ausi forums. This is of the 1.4 Twincharger 140bhp version. Seem quite impressive http://audia1news.co.uk/a1forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=686&start=40
  24. I have been readin reviews for these on Audi / fiat and they rave em. These arnt the old school piggy back boxes more like a map in a box that plugs directly into the sensors that are modified by a remap. I'm very interested as it is easily removed without trace. The parameters changed are well within tolerance. Shark if you get post a full review
  25. You can get universal single pillar pod that fit directly over the existing trim anyone know if these are any good Busy- have you any pics
