  1. Hi, I saw the one on ebay for the favorit, but wasnt sure at the time if it would fit. it certainly wasn't expensive. I might also give Pistons and Components a ring. fuel for thought, thanks for your suggestions Guys very much appreciated.
  2. Thanks Guys, I will try the Glasgow Bosch dealer. mine is charging ok but the bearings are noisey and i would'nt like it to chuck it while out on a run. I'll also try round the local breakers ans see if there are any Favorits being boken.
  3. Looking for a bit of info. can anyone tell me what other alternator will fit my Rapid, mine is running a bit noisey, or where i could get one from, thanks in advance.
  4. Hi, can you let me know what you have, and how much you want for them, I will be interested any other parts you may have.
  5. Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me, I am looking for a few bits for my rapid 130 convertable, The bits are as follows. Rapid 130 5 speed badges for engine cover. Skoda strip for along the rear panel a decent front grille. a set of rear seat belts A good weber carb. A set of wheel centres for my alloy wheels. If anyone has anything they can contact me by mobile on 07751031994. I live on the south west coast of scotland.
  6. Hi, I am looking for a set of rear seat belts if you still have them, my seats are in excellent condition. If at all possible could you post them and add this to the cost.
  7. Yes these wheels look good, that gives me a better idea of what can be done. Thanks for that.
  8. Thanks for the info, I might be better and spend the money and get the existing alloys refurbished.
  9. I would fit the same size as that fitted as standard, 165/70/13?. I would'nt mind going up to 14" wheels, my main reason is just to make it look a bit better. I bought the car with the original alloys but they will take a lot of work to strip and repaint.
  10. Does anyone know if the wheels off a favorit / falicia will fit the rapid / estelle, if not what other wheels would fit, preferably alloys, which would be available from a breakers yard. any info greatly appreciated.
  11. Thanks for the info. I did use all new gaskets as i bought a full head set, I will have to go over the nut sand double check the tightness. it may be worth while taking the carb back off and checking the base flange to ensure it is completely flat, should I hear a hissing noise if it is drawing air.
  12. Thanks for that, I was hoping it would not be too big a job to do the timing chain, I do have a haynes manual (got it from amazon ) but I may not have read it properly, I thought it showed this job as part of a full strip down, not as a stand alone job. I have seen a carburator kit advertised by Jorily but it was for a 120, is there any difference between that and the 130. It definately sounds the best option. Its starting to look as if I need an open cheque book for this car, I hope its worth it in the end.
  13. I am looking for some information about fitting a new timing chain kit, My main querie is, does the sump have to come off or can it be done by just the removal of the timing cover. Are there any problems I may come acccross. Alaso on a different subject, where could I buy a good carburator, I have just refitted the cylinder head after having it skimmed, the car will not run without the choke being on and will not run at below 2500RPM. Some previous owner has pluged the hole for the air correction adjustment screw with a peice of wood. Any information will be greatly apperciated.
  14. Hi thanks for the info. greatly appreciated, I intend changing the thermostat and the weater pump, its not leaking but has a lot of play on the shaft, I only noticed this once I took the fan belt of. I think I will also have to change the radiator switch for the cooling fan. I have bypassed this at the moment and put a switch in.
  15. Thanks for that, I am going to take the head of this afternoon after I have cut the grass, unfortunately got to take advantage of the good weather while it lasts. First cut of the year.
  16. I am about to remove the cylinder head of my receantly purchased Rapid 130 Convertable, this is because when i got it running it was boiling like an old kettle. My main concern is about the head bolt torque settings . I have a Haynes manual which states the settings for a 105 and 120, also in the supplement section settings for a 136 which I believe has an alloy head whereas my 130 has a cast head, therefor should I be using the torque info for the 105 /120 as i believe the heads are the same. I hope this makes sence. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  17. Hi Downton. You seemed to be lucky with your purchase, I have been after an estelle or rapid for some time now, but most were down south, I live on the South west coast of Scotland, and it was not very easy just to view. This rapid was on ebay and located on the Island of Bute, just a short drive and a ferry crossing. I was not really wanting a convertable but could'nt resist the temptation, it came with a new soft top that had never been fitted, the previous owner reconned it was too short, after speaking to the company who made it (1996) Don Trimming in Birmingham they said it should fit as they use exact templates but it may need heated and streached, but if all fails they can alter it for me. Progress to date is slow, the cluch fluid pipe burst taking it off the trailer, fitted a new one yesterday, and got the engine running. The body work and painting is not a problem as I am employed as a lecturer in body repair and painting in a local FE college. I have got a couple of pictures of the car on the trailer but as yet dont know how to insert them in this site. (me and computers are not the best of friends).
  18. Hi. It looks brilliant, I have just purchased a 1986 rapid convertable which has been dry stored for 12 years, If it looks half as good as yours when finished I will be glad. My Rapid should be the same colour as yours, but it was painted with black hammerite in 1996. thats why it probably has very little rust. So with a pile of 80 grit discs and a DA sander I will get started.
  19. Hi, I have just came across this site and registered, it looks good, I have had favorits and falicias in the past, but have just bought an 1986 Rapid convertable, its not in too bad a condition but with a little tender care hopefully will be back on the road in the not to distant future. I hope there are members out there that can help me with information if needed. I look forward to browsing the rest of the forum.
