  1. Yes I made mistake, it's TSI. And thank you for answer.
  2. It's really interesting article, as i know russian, I have read through it. New thing for me was, that VW officially offers discount for reapair if owner can show proper service history an car is under 6 years and 200k km. And also that leaving car parked in gear unnecessary tension chain and apply pressure to tensioner. From now on I will use only handbrake They are also speculating about long-life oils but VW deny any relation to oil. Mine is 2010. octy with CDAA engine and 37k miles on dash. VCDS block 93 is showing -1.53 so I should be fine. Later I will try to check also tensioner marks. But still, muffled taping noise from chain chamber during engine idling bother me. Anyone else noticed noise from right engine side like chain hitting plastic tensioner guides from time to time ? And what oil do you use 5W-30 or 5W-40? p.s. here one guy is doing chain replacement job and answering questions, but again - it's russian... http://vwts.ru/forum/198467.html
  3. Warranty is over and it is chain. I understand that chains are maintenance free so I must decide to change that part or not.
  4. Hello all! I want any response about what title says, because this is making me worry. OK, the story: I was at local Skoda dealership after usual 60k maintenance parts and started to chat with tech guy about my 1.8 TFSI (BZB) engine. I asked him about any known standard faults. He told that this engine is pretty OK, but there is known problem with hydraulic chain tensioner for engines older than end of 2010. These tensioners with part number 06H109467L or 06H109467N is likely to fail, loosen chain, chain jumps over sprockets and engine is doomed... He told that now (after 01.10.2010.) factory released fixed tensioners with part number 06H109467T which are much more reliable and I should replace my tensioner with this new one. I heard this only from one guy and want more confirmation or denial from you guys. Right now I have feeling like I'm driving on time bomb :S p.s. He also told that they already have experience with one 1.8 TFSI which has gone exactly that way here in Latvia (at 30000 km )
  5. I think it's a tar from road which dissolves and looks like rust spots. I had similar shock about rust on car after winter, but then I noticed thous spots on painted plastic parts too. Tar remover helped to get rid of that "rust".
