thanks guys, yeah i am not letting dealers near it. dont have faith in them. ill try either of the above and see how it goes. will it come back through after applying it? also does it harm the rest of the paintwork around it using any of the above products? thanks again

hi, i have some small specs of rust. when i am washing the car and down near the bottom of one door, on the bak and in the corner where theres a join in the bodywork on the boot. i am going to say to the dealer about this howevr the small specs i am unsure what they will say about them. certainly the join is warranty but the other small specs what can i use to get rid of these? i polished the car with mer and autoglym products when i got the car and have applied twiced since with mer but last few washes i have used demon shine for quickness. just concerned the paintwork is not that good. anyone who can rec a product would be great. thanks

got the oil from halfords yesterday. to be honest my merc previous was digital and would tell you but i think in total i can only ever remember topping up oil in that once in 2 and a half years. anyway all done no damage done.

to be honest no i dont. i have done with used cars but this being just 2 months old i did not think i would have to be topping up as reading other peoples posts they go 16000 miles without topping up. put a litre of castrol edge in today £16 for 1 litre. called dealer and they said that this is normal to be coming on as soon. called another in the area and they said the same although these 2 dealers say that the horrendous noise form my steering when wet is normal on a vrs. maybe cause i am younger they are ticking the p#ss. thanks

my oil light came on this morning after the car has only done 3000 miles from new. is that right? been told by dealer to use helix. think it is a bit strange it needs oil already?

yeah i know mate i sound old when i say that to people also. but its true. got 3 bricks thrown from moving car at christmas time and paint stripper all over boot. the brick hit the door where my little one sits and i had just lifted her out and taken her in the house. so if i had left her for a min while getting bags in it could have been worse. police, they dont take vandlism serious. i setup cctv camera hidden and caught them doing paint stripper, however even though the guy who did the paint stripper drove the same colour, make and model of car caught throwing bricks afer the first one they could not do anything. it was crap mate. that was then and year before when i was out seeing a client at christmas time 4 15 year olds jumped on my car when it was in a car park, kicked the wing mirror off and pulled merc badge out and threw a printer on the bonnet. their was witnesses and they got caught. went to childrens panel and they got off because apparently they were too young to understand what they were doing lol. i mean come on. i knew at 15 not damage other peoples property. just people dont like seeing other people do well. happens all the time and does not help when the justice system gives these people a slap on the wrist when they do get caught.

sorry to hear mate. i know the feeling with scum like this. still trying to get things sorted out myself 8 months on with the courts.

thanks dallan. i find it strange that when the car was in for the whole day they come back with that it is a characteristic of the car. it sounds terrible and not like it should but i just wondered if other had the issue. guessing not by the responses so must be an issue with my car specifically.

anyone at all got any thoughts on this? the noise normal on vrs when wet then?

i have just checked my engine code and it matches the above concerned. my car has been making alot of ticking noises when driving and having major issues with my steering. noise in the steering is terribly when wet and steering goes tight when turning. funny thing is i had my car in at dealers last week and they never mentioned this. and it was in due to the noise coming from engine and steering. so is there official links i can send to the dealers about this?

well car was in last week being looked at. the noise on the steering when turning on near full lock is terrible when it has been raining. dealer says that all vrs do this. i find this hard to believe. does everyone when the car is wet make a terrible rubbing type noice like something is going to snap? also when driving with no music on i can hear a slight ticking from my engine coming through the gearbox it seems. again was told this noise was normally on the vrs. not sure it will get better. noise started when i reach around 1k on it. the car has not really been booted so a bit concerned. anyone got any views on this? does your vrs do it when on near full lock? does anyone get a ticking noise when driving from the tsi enngine? it is a my11 plate if that makes any difference. cheers

just renewed my insurance this morning. went with axa. male 25 years old and 5 years ncd with wife as named driver (27yr old) renewal was £356 for the year. brilliant! my insurer from previous 3 years wanted £900 renewal. that is laughable.

got it sorted now. my previous insurer was adamant that they had taken the claims off system however they had not so after waiting and eventually speaking with a manager they realised they had not taken it off. they were not for admitting they were wrong. unreal. all sorted now though.

hi, need some urgent advice. my car insurance is up for renewal and i have got a quote online via moneysupermarket which came in at £386 for me 25 year old male with 5 years no claims and wife 27 as named driver. issue is my previous insurer i logged 2 claims with when my car was vandalised by the same thug. however after speaking with the insurer and the fact i could not get insured for a 1.0 courtesy car at the time i withdrew the claims and so they never went ahead at all. when i try to renew online i get an error from the insurers that my no claims that i have put down is wrong from the national database. my old insurer has sent me emails showing that the claims were withdrawn and my ncd was not affected. however i am still getting the issue of no being able to get insurance with no claims down. and as soon as i log the 2 claims down my insurance goes up 300 pound. anyone know what i can do about this? my old insurer says they have updated system and that no claims was no affected. thanks

just to pick up on this, it appeared to stop but has came back and is getting worse i can hear something driving now coming from under the gearbox. might be related. really not impressed to be honest. going a drive with mechanic at 3pm today to listen to it. let you know how i get on.

just to give an update i got 40 mpg on the trip coming up the road from newcastle last weekend. full car of luggage, me the missus and little one. was sitting at just under 60 coming up coast in cruise. quite good. oh and thanks for all the replies even the ones that went in a bit too much depth

well tonight while parking up at the supermarket and turning into a parking bay there was a strange rubbing noise coming from what sounded like the gearbox. when in 1st and reverse i noticed this more. however went to see grizzle to let him hear it (thanks mate for coming out in the rain on a sat night) he looked at it and turned it not in gear and sounds like it is coming from the sterring. grizzle will prob be able to describe better where exactly it was coming from but very strange noise coming from steering. has anyone had this problem at all? car is only just a month old, not been driven harshly. few blasts on motorway straight but thats it. so not like its been rally around corners. anyone with any experiences of this would be great to hear. cheers

this is the one i saw which made me buy my white one. got them to do my tints. i like it. at first i did not like the roof but it has grown on me the more i see it.
