Just a thought - surely the key to which engine/which car is actually the ECU. I believe on the 1.6 Common Rail, it was the newer Simos PCR2.1 ECU that was fitted. Is VW's skullduggery limited to this particular unit?

From all I have read this week I would say EA189 derivatives Euro 5 :1.6 and 2.0 Common Rail are affected. I have a CAYC (105).

They're all drive by wire now so pedal is basically a glorified dimmer switch. Would be interesting to see output on vcds, may be faulty or getting interference from brake. Alternatively cars increase revs at tickover if the electrical current demand cannot be met, so you may have a short to do w,ith the brake light switch or battery/alternator issue. Take it to the dealers if you're covered, it will be interesting finding out the cause.
