  1. Bit of an odd one this, and I'd really appreciate some advice on it. We've got a '61 plate Greenline 2 estate. A little while ago the entire dash died, no speedo, or revs, no computer, etc. We took it in, and they replaced the ECU, which has apparently fixed both this and another issue we had. This has however lead to a new issue. The boot now only opens on a long keypress which also pops it open, but not on either the short press to just unlock it, or the general unlock all doors double key press on the fob. The garage are claiming that this is due to the new ECU, and that it is standard on all new ECU units, and can't be changed. I don't really believe this, and strongly suspect it's a case of 'computer says its all OK', but would like confirmation before I take this to Skoda. Could someone just confirm that what I'm seeing is in no way standard behaviour? Just to confirm, What I'm expecting: Unlock button: Single press - unlocks drivers door Double press - unlocks all doors, including boot Long press - winds down electric windows Boot button: Single press - unlocks boot Long press - unlocks and pops boot open Lock button: Single press - locks and deadlocks car Double press - removes deadlock Long press - winds up electric windows What actually happens: Unlock button: Single press - unlocks drivers door Double press - unlocks all doors, but not boot Long press - winds down electric windows Boot button: Single press - does nothing Long press - unlocks and pops boot open Lock button: Single press - locks and deadlocks car Double press - removes deadlock Long press - winds up electric windows Cheers, and sorry it's ended up so long!
  2. Whilst the Disc lock is good, that wire isn't. There's a good reason that the cycle forums call those licorice cables... This thread on LFGSS has details on good locks: http://www.lfgss.com/thread17938.html I'd look at the chains, rather than the dlocks in this case though.
  3. I've had this problem pretty much from new on our GL2. The garage currently have a part waiting to be fitted, but I've not found a good time to get it done. They suggested that if that didn't solve it, it might be something earthing in the lighting circuit
  4. Fortuantly its not to bad, just a little gutting, with the car only a month old. Never having had to worry about this before, how do I go about getting an alloy repaired? How important is it that its done? as in can I leave it and get it done towards the end of the year, or will that cause further damage? Also, does anyone have any recommendations for companies, and an approximate amount that it should cost? The scrape is quite minor, I think its only just caught the laquer, and maybe the paint, no great goudges into the wheel or anything. Thanks in advance!
  5. not if you have legal cover, they will sort out persuing the other side for the excess. Even if you don't you can persue them through the small claims court to recover it.
  6. How can you check what day the car was made? Would love to find that out for ours...
  7. Our GL2 (picked up today, on 61 plates ) doesn't have a sharkfin, just a standard ariel... --edit-- Oh, and we've no satnav.
  8. Right, having found some vouchers for 5p off a litre of fuel from Shell when you buy over 25l, I think that we're going to fill it with v-power at least until the vouchers run out, by which time it should have done 1.2k, and it should be started to be run in. In case anyone is interested, the vouchers were in Waitrose, who just gave them to us when we asked, not sure if you're meant to buy a certain amount of stuff or anything, we didn't.
  9. Thanks for pointing that out, I've added Esso Standard into the poll too now.
  10. I've found a few topics on this for petrol engines, but not seen one for diesel. We're picking up the GL2 on the 1st of September, and I wanted to get this straight. So, I've been doing some digging about to try and work out the options. Shell - have both Diesel FuelSave and V-Power, V-Power seems well regarded by the petrol VRS drivers, as does FuelSave BP - don't want to tell me about their fuels online, anyone know anything? Texaco - I don't like our local Texaco garage, I've heard of people having problems with their fuel on more than one occasion, and they don't want to tell me about their fuels, but if anyone knows anything different, always willing to learn. Esso - don't want to tell me about their fuels online, anyone know anything? Total - Offer both Standard Diesel and Total Excellium, not seen anyone saying anything about the Total Excellium though. Sainsburys - Don't say anything about their fuel online, but other sites seem to suggest that they are provided by BP. Tesco - Have their new 99 Octane Petrol, but don't seem to do anything special in the way of diesel. Tesco service stations seem to be Esso linked, so could well use Esso for all of their fuels. Asda - don't want to tell me about their fuels online, anyone know anything? Morrisons - don't want to tell me about their fuels online, anyone know anything? TL:DR? Shell have Diesel FuelSave and V-Power, Total have Total Excellium, everyone else just seems to have standard diesel, and don't want to tell me anything about it. I'm wanting to ensure that the car is very well looked after at least during its running in period, and picking the 'right' fuel seems like an important part of doing this. Thanks for any help! Drem
  11. Our dealer was quite happy to hang onto the car through the whole of August so we get a 61 plate if need be. AFAIK its still on its way there though...
  12. When was this decided? I've seen nothing about it, and had confirmation that there was 18 week compensation avalible just a month or two back... Can anyone else confirm this?
  13. I would have thought so, and don't let them charge you extra for colour coding them either, its their fault they weren't on it.
  14. May I ask roughly how much does cost to get a pro detailor to do the car in leiu of the dealers doing it? We've a GL2 estate on order, and the dealers were asking for £340 to do it I think
