Octavia Mk1 display language change
Pulpmillguy replied to Pulpmillguy's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
I take it the only way to change the language is to go into the ECS. Unfortunately I don't have access to VCDS but will check around and see if I can find anybody with it. Thanks for the lead. -
I have been driving my car for several years now dealing with German messages in the display and am finally getting tired of it . I have tried pushing every button available but can't seem to stumble onto a menu that will allow me to change the language to English. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Replacing driver door handle cable (inside)
Pulpmillguy replied to Hammett's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
I just had to replace the driver's door pull cable. I was able to do it without removing the latch assembly from the door but it was a bitch! Removing the old cable was easy...just rotate the end upwards 90 degrees and it comes out of the lever but getting the new cable back in was MUCH more difficult. I was finally able to get it back in but it seems that removing the latch assembly from the door would make it easier. -
Hello to the Skoda family! I have been a faithful VAG follower (my first car was a kit car built on a '69 Beetle, then had 3 Rabbits after that) and finally wound up with a 2004 Octavia Combi 1.9 TDI and absolutely LOVE it. I have been driving it for a year now and if past experience holds, it will probably have 500K on the clock before I let go!!! I got the car from Luxembourg but unfortunately don't speak German and would like to change the display language to English...does anybody know how I can do that? Is it something that can only be done thru the OBD connection? I am also considering remapping and would like to hear from some of you that have done this...is it worth it? The little gal runs pretty strong but I suspect she could really scream with just a few keystrokes. Looking forward to a long and happy relationship...
