  1. I haven't ridden any of the tiddlers this discussion has centered on I returned to biking with Moto3.5 aprilia which was fun then got a very fine and proper bike a Triumph Street Triple 675 2008 model which I have kept reminiscent of the RD3550LC and terrific in every way. Try one
  2. most recently there has been a 21% drop in diesel sales -the market will decide!
  3. My 1.2 seems to give in the order of 38mpg and someone mathematically competent will no doubt tell me and OP how many miles it will take for a diesel (which costs more to buy) to save any money and therefore satisfy the desire to motor more cheaply. I suspect most diesels only save money after the owner has sold them on. Penny wise pound foolish is a frequent postion for those who only see cost at the pump and not over the use of a car.
  4. Have you taken account of the possibility that diesel may be banned from cities-either by exclusion or by very high parking charges it may or may not be sensible but is a real possibility. unless you need a heavy towing work horse you may be choosing dead end technology. low powered and low performance diesels may be a poor choice. try a 1.2 and see whether it may not be what would suit you.
  5. I was guessing based on a 2007 Seat 2.0tfsi hope i haven't distracted you too much from the task of finding the explanation.
  6. I am not sure but I think it may be a low battery voltage warning. How old is the battery and does charging the battery make the problem go away?

    First Oil Change

Lots of sense above but it is accountants and fleet sales which have driven extended oil changes and if you may want to keep a car after the average pcp or contract hire deal an early additional oil change is cheap and at the worst harmless- the failure rate outside initial contract/warranty periods is of no interest to the bean counters so has no part in their calculations.
  8. Done it-easy peasy- I just asked the dealer and they supplied the car with the full depth boot and the spare wheel and tools loose and gave me the compressor and gunk it was done a week after collection and while I waited.

    1.2 sel dsg

It is much better than some find it-or I am driving differently. I would describe it as nimble and brisk. I hardly ever used the considerable power of my mapped 1.8 as my licence was traditionally fragile and maybe I have learned that driving on my reflexes isn't as easy or useful or fun as I used to find it. My dad slowed down a lot as he aged and I now understand why-it is much more relaxing.
  10. It is quite aggressive and somewhat out of keeping with the silky smooth performance of the 1.2 -quite competent though and quite good fun.

I am so pleased with mine i have just treated it to an oil and filter change at 1500 miles I may keep this one and although I will service it as Skoda require it may be I decide to keep it so am treating it as engineers rather than accountants would -my local garage did it for £25- very happy.
  12. My first was triggered by seeing it on Top gear interested me enough to have a drive. My second and third were because I still haven't found anything I'd rather drive. Comfortable, sufficient power , useful space inside and a great view out handy in town but not phased by a non stop run to Salamanca all in a package which is easy to park, reliable and not flashy in or out. Many alternatives have dash boards like old music centres or styling which is shouty. Mine is 17 reg, one of the last no clue what will follow it
  13. I have my first DSG yeti and like it I suspect it isn't a fault but just a characteristic and if others don't detect it it is probably that they have learnt to drive around it.
  14. It exists and works but you have to find it- it comes up after you find a box down in the left hand corner- if i could describe it better i would!
