  1. Car is booked in to hopefully have this replaced tomorrow!
  2. Oh dear ... I'm the newest overheating club member. Noticed water temp increased a couple of days ago, today it briefly hit red before returning to normal. Each time for me this was 50mph on the M60 through the road works, almost always along the same stretch of road on the way home from work! 2014 vRS, 34k miles. Will call local dealer tomorrow to get booked in!
  3. Was disabled in menu, all sorted now, ta
  4. Hmm no cigar, I'll fiddle with the menu a bit later.
  5. Hi, Is it possible to remotely drop all windows in an Octavia with the key fob + remotely shut them?
  6. Sorry guys forgot to update this after the service. My car is a TDI DSG vRS - The update has fixed the problem it had in Eco mode. It wouldn't always go back in to gear when coasting (foot off the gas, it then coasts), particularly a problem when on the motorway, it was actually quite dangerous as it would take the gearbox 3-4 seconds to realise your foot is back on the gas, meanwhile those behind you are up your a**e wondering why you're slowing down! Gearbox then wakes up and the car takes off again. Works perfectly fine now
  7. Hi, Taken my 14 plate vRS in for its first service this morning, garage says there is a recall for a software update also. Does anyone have any further details on what the update is fixing?
  8. I've done less than 1000 miles in my vRS TDI estate so can't comment long term yet. I have however recently done two long drives (180 miles each way), easily achieved 60+ mpg.
  9. I'd get rid of it, especially if it's out of warranty. Do you want to hang on to it hoping it's going to be OK? Because if it isn't OK, it's going to cost you between £1000-£3000 to replace the clutch packs / mechatronic unit. I'd rather take that money and buy a new car. I did this last week with my Fabia vRS, now driving a 2014 Octavia vRS.
  10. Unfortunately I wasn't able to see the car when I was initially in the dealership as it wasn't there. It was due to come in later in the week, the advert hadn't even been written up. I asked the salesman if cruise is standard, he said yes, the following evening I checked the Skoda site, it said it was standard - End of questioning if the car had cruise or not as there was no mention by the salesman or easily accessible information on the Skoda web site to confirm otherwise. Hey, I can live with it, I'm not going to kick up a fuss as I should have double checked the spec. I love the car, it has pretty much all the other toys I wanted, sat nav, parking sensors, DAB radio, bluetooth, phone etc, it looks ace, it goes like stink and it's more frugal than my previous Fabia vRS If I can get them to come down a bit on the install cost I'll probably have it retro fitted.
  11. I've looked over the Skoda site and couldn't find an announcement of changes, is this linked from their site? Spec change dates may be well known by nerds, the average Joe is not going to know. I do agree the dealer should have known, I don't feel he withheld this info intentionally, but you never know.
  12. I would expect the web site to highlight a recent change. We're not even talking about a facelift model re-launch, it's a subtle change with no official information on the one place someone would look to confirm the standard specs of a model, used or new.
  13. Dealership initially said it wasn't worth doing as it would cost £1k when they looked at it for another customer with a Roomster ... Told him I've read others being quoted 350-400 from dealers, he called me back an hour later after having investigated to say I was right, he'll call again Monday with availability for the work. I honestly think Skoda UK should contribute something to this as their site is misleading, showing it as a standard feature.
  14. Picked my new car up this morning, Octavia vRS Estate Diesel DSG, 5k miles on the clock, registered April 2014: Only had 20 mins in it so far, but feels very comfy in the drivers seat!
  15. Ahhh man that sucks. So what are my options to retro fit it?
  16. Hi, Just picked up an April 2014 registered Octavia vRS Estate, 5k miles on the clock. Skoda web site says Cruise Control is standard and dealer said it is a standard option, however it doesn't have cruise control! I'm in the process of getting hold of the dealer as I've literally just driven the thing back to the office.
  17. Sure it's all relative, however looking around the price for the Octavia I'm paying, it seems reasonable for the market as a whole, factoring in the part ex value of my car. It could be far worst, I could have been left with an offer less than the outstanding finance.
  18. Should also say I bought this used with just 10,000 miles on in June 2012 for £12,500. So £2200 ish annual depreciation in that time.
  19. Hi, Thought I'd share the part ex value of my 61 plate Fabia vRS Estate, just under 43,000 miles. £7k Pick up 14 plate with 5k miles Octavia vRS Estate DSG Diesel later in the week. I thought the trade in price was quite good, warranty has expired on it now also ...
  20. Sorted, bought bulb today, 2 mins to change, job done, thanks folks!
  21. Hi, Looks like a headlight bulb on drivers side has failed on my vRS. In all years of car ownership I've never needed to change a car bulb ... Are these things easy to replace on the vRS'? What bulb do I need?
  22. My Dunlop sport maxx lasted over 20k miles, so I've just gone for the same again. Although I'll be interested in switching to winters soon.
  23. Trying to, but it seems it varies from site to site wether or not you choose speed rating or load rating. I'll go with 205/40 R17 W (84), seems right.
  24. Also, the alloy damage on the left wasn't by me, previous owner :P
  25. Hi, I need a new front left tyre, image of it: Some tyre sites take notice of the speed rating, others just the load, some not the load. Sites like etyres want to sell me a reinforced tyre, but I'm not sure if the right is reinforced or not: Just need the one tyre as the car has spent the last 5 weeks at a body shop for repairs after an accident. The repair shop replaced the drivers side front tyre with a new one.
