  1. Lol. TBH I don't have any sort of love affair with the Cupra. It's fast granted, but pretty boring. Don't think I'll miss it. My Clio 200 on the other hand is another matter!! Prefer the bikes in the car as there will be times when we are away from the car and bikes.
  2. Wanting to move away from the Cupra. Do 18kish a year so can probably justify a diesel and some issues with seating position in the cupra leading to some hip ache on longer journeys.
  3. Many thanks - short travel full sussers with droppers so sounds like we may be able to mount vertically. How do you secure them?
  4. Thinking diesel VRS and possibly estate. Typically two mountain bikes with two passengers and kit. We can squeeze this in the Cupra at the moment but on trips (weekends or longer) typically end up leaving stuff behind (cleaning stuff / tools etc.) as it is a hassle to fit in (especially when one of the mountain bikers is your mrs and is bringing suitcases etc.!!). As an example we'll be way from home for about 10 days this xmas and would love to take the bikes etc. along but it will be a royal faff with space available ATM. Also at the moment we can't carry any additional passengers when fully laden.
  5. Hi, Thinking about one of these as need something to cart mountain bikes and kit around in (don't want a van or roof / bike rack) and sick of squeezing stuff in current cupra 290. Presuming there will be no issues with higher mileage examples (80-100k) at 3/4 years old? Anything to look out for especially? Many thanks, N
  6. Recently refurbished. Kumho winters with 6 mm tread all around. Includes centre caps. Refurb place did not mask of hub contact point and so ideally this needs sanding as a couple of the wheels are a tight fit. £180 - bargain as need garage space. Located in Birmingham. Collection only.
  7. Cupra is now in the country and majorly imminent. 2k takes it. 1800 with the one set of wheels.
  8. 2004 / 54 plate Silver Owned by me since July 2014 130,000 miles (will rise slightly daily) Full service history (see below and pics) 5 owners from new 2 keys, handbooks etc. Mot until 28 feb 2017 (no advisories at last mot) Exterior: Colour coded wing mirrors and door handles Rub strips removed Limo black tints on rear windows, legal tint on front 700k hids Fogs tinted yellow Facelift rear lights Heko wind deflectors Engine: Sachs performance clutch Angel tuning remap 176 bhp, 300lbs torque Stainless steel cat back exhaust New turbo fitted at 78K miles Wheels, suspension and brakes: AP shock and spring set (fitted new 6 months into my ownership) Team dynamics pro race 1.2 16x7 with Goodyear Eagle Asymetrics (all tyres @ 5.5mm) PLUS spare set of standard VRS alloys recently refurbed, with Kumho winter tyres with good tread (all between 5.5-6mm). Whiteline rear ARB. Polybushed console bushes New M-tec brake discs and mintex pads all round 6 months ago. Interior: Alpine usb head unit Alpine r components Parrot bluetooth handsfree Audi tt pedals, foot rest, speedo rings Extensive service history, fully stamped in book: 10,000 miles 1/09/2005 20,322 miles 26/07/2006 26,379 miles 3/11/ 2006 29,676 miles 18/04/2008 38,000 miles 16/02/2009 47,000 miles 13/09/2009 50,997 miles 15/02/2010 59,000 miles 13/02/2011 68,608 miles 17/12/2011 78,510 miles 19/10/2012 86,727 miles 30/05/2013 94,299 miles 22/03/2014 103,967 miles 17/12/14 (inc. cambelt and water pump) 112665 miles 23/07/15 122330 miles 08/04/16 Maintenance and repairs done in my ownership; Cambelt done less than 2 years and 26k miles ago. Recent aux belt, pulley and tensioner (charging fault showing so replaced them all) Meyle uprated ARB drop links fitted in 2014 Inner CV joint replaced Bad bits - Car has pro boost gauges fitted but these are not working (haven’t in my ownership) Rear passenger door lock is sticking (has done since I have had it - slight tap in the right place opens it and don’t regularly have rear passengers so not been an issue for me. Does cause the central locking to lock if car is unlocked but left unstarted, unless you do unstick this door. Can demonstrate to any potential new owner. Again has not been an issue for me.) Interior lights do not work (never have in my ownership) Refurb on standard spare alloys is not great. They did not mask the hub contact patch and as a result fit is very tight on a couple of these. Ideally need sanding down before being fitted again. That’ll teach me to go groupon! One of the TD hub caps is missing (approx £10 off e-bay) Due service in 2k miles. In summary - sound VRS that has served me well over the last 2 and a bit years and 32k miles. Shouldn’t need any big money spending on it as has already had replacement turbo and uprated clutch, has two sets of wheels with good tyres, and recent brakes all round. Mechanically sound and reliable in my ownership. Excellent service and maintenance history. Selling as have treated myself to a leased Leon Cupra 290 Black Edition that is arriving imminently. Located in Birmingham. £2000 with both sets of wheels and tyres or £1800 with just the team dynamics. Contact via PM or on 07765512661.
  9. As to your last comment I don't agree. My experience of buying (modified) and modifying many cars is that if you are careful with what you buy they are more often than not far better maintained than many standard examples. Modified does not automatically equal 'ragged' or driven without mechanical sympathy, or poorly maintained. Also older owners still drive modified and older cars!! I am below 50 but not 40 and would have cars in that category. Buy based on condition, history, maintenance and your impressions of the owner (I never buy 2nd hand from a dealer). A short period of ownership (a few months) would put me off however without a very good and evidenced reason.
  10. Just over 6k for a 2 year lease @ 10k miles per annum. So works out at abut 260 per month. Seen others saying aprox. 249 per month so i didn't get the best possible.
  11. Apologies. About to reactivate my freedom to put the advert up in the next week.
  12. Don't slag the Seat as have a new lease cupra 290 black edition coming in 3-4 weeks time. Had the VRS for nearly 2 and a half years and done about 33k in it virtually trouble free but really missing a decent petrol engine and the lease deals on these recently have been fantastic. Have had 2 VRSs now and both have been great and difficult to replace with something which is so cheap and reliable TBH.
  13. I also have a decent VRS which will be for sale in a week or two as my new lease cupra 290 is on its way. But not the mileage you are looking at (on 130k). Problem with the cars and mileage you are looking at is that they will mostly be on original suspension, clutch / flywheel, and turbo and so quite possibly these are bills waiting for you. I would much prefer a higher miler which has everything done and renewed. Not a sales pitch but mine for instance has had new turbo, clutch, and suspension refresh, so unlikely to be big bills in the offing (engines good for high mileage if serviced well and regularly). The bills related to mileage on these are all those items so I would be ignoring mileage personally. Let me know if you want any more info on the car - it's modded (mapped, aftermarket suspension, rear ARB, sachs clutch, team dynamics pro race wheels) but as above has had clutch, turbo, suspension and cambelt not too long ago plus 10k oil changes all it's life. Goodyear with loads of tread and new pads and discs 6 months ago. Spare set of standard wheels with winters. 54 plate. 2200. Good luck in the search.
  14. So essentially £175 for oil and filter and an inspection. Oil and filter less than £30. What great value.
  15. I have these too. Good option for not much money. I was worried only paying £250 for a suspension kit. Wouldn't touch the JOMs with a proverbial barge pole personally based on comments in this thread .......
  16. Run 3 cars? Obviously not the sensible thing to do but gives you choice
  17. How would an absolute numpty (me!) do this safely?
  18. Just had intermittent flashing battery warning light for last 20 miles of journey (54 plate fabia vrs). Swore I could hear a noise from the engine bay at one point. Just read a few threads and wondering if this might be the alternator sense load wire mentioned a few times. Need to travel a 100 miles back home on Sunday and wondering if it will make it. Car starting fine and not sure there is a battery issue.
  19. P.s. I paid a little over the odds because it had all the mods that might otherwise have cost money so not everyone is the same.
  20. Normal as in not to worry about or normal as in they all do it and this is the solution ............
  21. Hi. Couple of issues. I have the random 3 beeps sometimes on acceleration with what I think is the handbrake warning flashing up momentarily (although not every time). Have read this might be low brake fluid level - difficult to see TBH with position of the reservoir and my untrained eye. Is that the likely cause? Also whilst I had the engine cover off to try and see the above I noticed that there seems to be an oil leak from the EGR. What's the best way to address this? I have an EGR delete in the garage BTW but had read that these are not that great an idea on the ASZ engine due to the EGR containing the anti shudder valve? Also if fitting the EGR will this need the EML mapping out? Any other cons? Car is a mapped 54 plate ASZ Fabia VRS on 113k. Due a service and so will be asking the garage to do any work as basically I am hapless! Many thanks.
