  1. Nope, one screw and a little bit of force I believe was the key. Very simple anyway...
  2. I'd personally use the paddles for acceleration only as the manual shifting with gear lever is against my logics - I'd shift up towards me and down - away, but Škoda has a different/opposite view... When braking - just release the pedal and it brakes (with engine) itself - never need to use the gears yourself. Regarding the electric boot - our car wash operators see a lot more expensive cars with el. boots so this is not an issue. However most of the people in my car tend to use force so I removed the plastic handle thingy from inside the lid. Now at least they ask first. If to close it manually slowly, it's okay, even in emergency situations needed. Problem will arise of excessive speed-force where the thread will be damaged. A costly stupidity AFAIK.
  3. Nice specs. Although I think this topic has been handled here a number of times, my two cents. In reflection to some of these comments my personal views: KESSY - just awesome. I wouldn't imagine my life without it anymore - no need to find the key from the pockets (unless to open the boot), I really think it's very convenient option. BTW KESSY opens from both sides! Roll-up blinds - the 'sunset glass' is not dark enough and when having people in back seat, quite nice. Also it's more stylish then the later 'add-on' thingies that won't look as good. Price is a bit different though. Heated windscreen - handy but I'd say up to UK weather. With colder weaher more power still needed. Panoramic sunroof - the biggest problem can be some creaks? from it when closed (due to constructional reasons) and some additional maintenance (due to moving parts). No leaking in 2½ years, no less headroom (compared to modern saloons), no colder roof. But I really like it. Gives more openness, from the beginning of spring up to late autumn very often open. :sun: 3-spoke wheel - the steering wheel itself is a bit thicker and I think the paddles can be quite nice. Don't have myself unfortunately, but thinking of retrofitting. When speccing, would definitely consider. Leather - oh yeah. In my case couldn't stand the alcantara. Just dislike this hairy stuff. But perforated leather was good. Yes, cold in winter (heating for this), yes hot in summer (ivory not so much, but we have ventilation for that ). The main reason was ventilated seats - quite cheap option but with hotter summer days even normal textile seats can become uncomfortable and ventilation is good enough for longer distances. Electric boot is nice. No wiping with your feet undreneath the back to open it though, but still good. The only 'bu' is regarding the way it closes. This 'thump' is quite loud and physical, especially as compared to e.g. Accord but still better than none. Hill hold is a nice touch, as otherwise the car can roll back. Nothing dramatic but handy. The aluminium rail and partition system is good. Qith luggage and holdin stuff in place this is recommended, but definitely net system to be added. Then it's really handy - if needed all of it can be removed or adjusted. Heated nozzles is good as it keeps them from freezing, however as the wipers do not have their designated heated section (in the bottom of the windscreen) still not much of use as the wipers will be freezing and require cleaning now and then. At least I have this issue. Space saver spare wheel - if a bigger damage to a tire happens - no use of the foam and compressor. When driving longer distances or in more remote areas, I'd definitely go for it. Something didn't see being mentioned here - double sun-visor. Costs pennies as an extra but very handy and nice option. Quite often sun tends to be from two sides and comes very handy indeed. Aux. heating - as it is of a cost I'd say - the colder the winters the more of use to it. With UK winters maybe not so essential as in more Nordic areas but definitely a good option. Especially if with remote control and cooling function for summer.
  4. Get used to it or be wiser not to order next time. To be honest my two Scorpios (Granadas in UK) over a decade were with heated front screen and I was so used to it that when switching to Saab I was quite annoyed. So I'm used to it and I see no problem in this ultra thin wiring. However I heard VW has now infrared? windshield heating and hence better visibility. The added heater in aircon is no match to heated front screen. Especially when we speak about below zero temperatures and ice.
  5. As far as can remember - no. First of all, if you have "auto lock" on which locks the doors when car becomes mobile, then it turns off with opening the doors from inside. Otherwise it would be a security threat. And keep in mind the sensors do understand on which side is the key. E.g. if you leave the key inside the car you can't lock the doors from outside with the finger touch (safety again), so in plain words NO.
  6. Hi! If you see the self-test in the beginning then this means that they're adaptive and the're working. This is the only way to test them while being immobile. They're working from some speed up, check the manual/forums. In lower speeds cornering fog lights are active so you can see and test them even when standstill. The point really is that in higher speeds main lights with higher illuminating power are providing light into the direction car is actually going whereas when doing slow maneuvres, like turning off the main road, fog lights provide closer range lighthing in a similar manner.
  7. 6'3" with 36" leg and no problem with vent.seats. Comfortable enough even for straight 500+/round 1500+ mile travels. However didn't like the alcantara upholstery so that's one of the reasons why opted for perfo. seats.
  8. No plans yet. Company car for 5 years, so we'll see (I can extend the warranty for an extra year to get all five, however I'll bust the 150Tkm limit long before...)
  9. Sounds strange but as corporate businesses have their own strange ways, I wouldn't be too surprised. However sometimes stubborn and persistent behaviour brings to success, so don't lose the hope, yet... "PSW - Rough Road Package" - €165.- (the same for VW Passat costs €605.- )
  10. Due to internal politics they may have just decided to cut the costs and number of models to be exported to greater distances and have decided that (as) Oceanic countries mainly use auto gearboxes, so be it. (Personally I'd never go back to manual as I just find automatic so much more convenient.)
  11. Kiwibacon, don't know about this "Outdoor" pack, however I have an ordinary diesel 4x4 with this so called "rough road pack" with 20mm extra ground clearance and now looking at these new pictures I'm not sure I'd opt for this new option. And I do have underneath protection (one reason exactly being gravel). But as I understand this "rough road pack" is not available everywhere...
  12. If we're talking about the net partition in Combi then IMHO this is a good option. No very expensive but handy to have. The rear headrests could in some cases be used as one however the net is much more practical as when backseat is folded down it can also be used behind the front seats. Another tip: very wise to opt for it as the factory option as it also requires the fastening points to be factory installed.
  13. Just changed my winter wheels to summer alloys using a garage jack and with no problem. A bit further away there's a place for this. Just go under the belly and have a bit closer look
  14. I'll be doing the leather care/cleaning in a few months' time, as the car turns half a year old. However it gets dirty very easily.
  15. Have installed those UCP ones from eBay (from the beginning of this thread). Over the weekend and so far no probelms whatsoever... MY12/Dec11
  16. Your car is not OK. I have two months old car and even down to -35C (and a longer period of -20-25C) has been no problem whatsoever - starts very quickly and even gets warm after a while (w/o aux. heater). Definitely go and let them check.
  17. Are You sure?! It'll not roll back but keep crawling (if not at an extreme angle) - just like a normal automatic. And that's why I'd use brake pedal and not a handbrake. When taking off from hill I just release the brake pedal and use accelerator... As I understand 'Uphill start assist' is only intended for take-off and holds the car for 2sec. after releasing the brake pedal. After 2secs. the braeks are released and car will roll back (and that mainly applies to manual). What have I misunderstood?
  18. Hello Lowflyer! Looking at Your car history I wouldn't be sure CR170 4x4 is a good idea. It's the most powerful of diesels, can be 're-helped' and is available as manual, however it's not a mach to a petrol guzzling V6. Learning to cope with DSG will be up to You. Whether You will survive or extinct I come from a petrol 9-3. Was also considering a new 9-5 however it looked too good but Superb offered much more practicality for the same money. So better test drive both. However if You decide to go more "green" and economical then diesel is a good option. For takeovers You have a thing called 'torque' and manual box. And in any ways You have plenty of room to take half of the UK with You... 4x4 is nice option, even if one doesn't have winters with a lot of snow likoe over here. And getting all the options together You still end up holding a lot of money for other needs, compared to Saab for example...
  19. In my opinion this is a very good option, apart from the fact that wheel arches are a bit more exposed with 16" winter tires. The handling is very much adequate and needs no special effort or give-up. I thought that the underside pan was of some kind of composite plastic, but haven't had a look. Originally shouldn't be steel... Of course we haven't had too bad snow situation this year, like last one, so can't comment to a full but very happy with this option. (Had also in mind Outback & XC70 which are even higher)
  20. I have a pano and I'm 193cm and find no problem whatsoever neither with the roof height nor with the temperature of glass roof or any noises that should come through... So I can only recommend.
  21. Hi all! Just read news about Škoda 2.0 CR TDI engine fuel line problems that from the hi-pressure lines diesel can leak into engine bay. This is related to certain Superb, Ocatvia and Yeti models: •Octavia M1 : e11*2001/116*0230 •Octavia N1 : e11*2007/46*0012 •Superb M1 : e11*2001/116*0326 •Superb N1 : e11*2007/46*0014 •Yeti M1 : e11*2007/466*0010 •Yeti N1 : e11*2007/46*0034 However have not seen this topic or warning anywhere else. Is this old news? Or news at all? Sent an inquiry to my local dealer so we'll see what they'll say. /Jannes
  22. No need for reproductive organs? Unfortunately we have a bad weather here as well ~0°C, whereas should be -10 to -15°C and a lot of snow for Chrismas...
  23. Just picke up mine. Ordered in May, first build date w40, second w49. Collected yesterday. Didn't like the wait but now I'm very glad to have it. So yes, this car is worth waiting, but depends on a person. Some can wait a year, but I wouldn't.
  24. In colder parts of Europe the electric heater is standard, at least here it is. It will be excluded only in case of aux. heater. The same goes for Saab i.e.
