  1. Well its a long story... In summary, head gasket went, got "repaired" by a well known garage in the Southampton area, then it didn't run, they wouldn't let me take my car without payment. Next stop was Skoda themselves to find why it wasn't running, which went tits up after £400 of diagnostic work and testing, when they said they didn't even want to touch it. Then took the car back to my normal mechanic as he was on holiday (hence using well known garage, that is often on Capital FM with the free doughnuts) where he found loads of problems.... After these were rectified, the camshaft wore out, I think due to said garage using the wrong oil, resulting in a new engine as it was more viable financially. This engine then didn't run after being fitted at all, including testing on my ECU, so another engine was purchased.... And finally the turbo seals (I assume) on this engine have gone, as there is tonnes of blue smoke coming out the back.
  2. Right, So I think its time for my VRS to go to the scrap yard, after spending over £5k in repair bills in the last 6 months, and giving up the ghost again. This means that I have a fair few items I will be looking to sell soon. Admin, I will become freedom member before doing this, but I am just after some guidance in prices of a few items... So here is the list; KW V1 coilovers - Front shocks have gone, no leaks, but a bit bouncy.... Might just be worth binning them, as I doubt they are worth much Gearbox - Rebuilt Jan 14 at the cost of £750 (with receipts) has covered all of about 5k miles Turbo - 158k miles, seals are fine, not sure on play but can check Standard 16" VRS wheels, plenty on meat left on tyres (4mm front - 6mm rear) - few marks but no kerbing PD130 injectors - fully working - worth selling? Mufflerectomy - Powerflow made, twin exit with slight DTM styling Might be other parts worth selling, but seeing that the car will probably be scrapped, I might just let people contact me with parts they want. Thanks all
  3. Yeah, I have had that before, but Ive replaced all the pipes and clips only 4k ago :S and it wouldnt explain the overboost?
  4. So, this morning, car was 100% fine as it normally is. Started getting annoyed with the slow OAP in front of me, dropped it down into 4th at 80, and planted my foot. All of a sudden, theres a **** load of soot that comes flying out the back, to the point I cant see anything behind me, then it starts overboosting.... The rest of my 32 mile journey was full of overboost, and random large clouds of soot being thrown out. What could be causing this? 2006 Fabia VRS 100k miles Std map Decat + mufflerectomy Nothing like this has happened before, there are no codes, or warning lights :/ Thanks Guys and Gals!
  5. My old mans leon tdi cupra got "stored" in one of the car parks that is next to gatwick. Came back off holiday later, and there was a loud sound everytime the car was on full lock. Almost as if someone was hitting a large piece of metal. Turned out to be a snapped spring, which only had a few mm left holding it together! Wonder how that happened ey!
  6. My shocks on the front have gone, giving me a stupidly bouncy ride :( Does anyone know how much (roughly) replacement shocks will be for a 6Y fabia vrs? I am just thinking of buying some JOMs as I'm sure the parts will be stupidly priced now that KW have bumped their prices up :/ Cheers
  7. Yeah, vaccum pipe is in the air filter, there are no leaks, and the MAF is pretty much brand new. Car was running fine before I took the standard airbox filter combo out. The car does pull more top-end, as it used to stay around 110mph for a while then slowly climb. But now with the S2K filter it sails on past. Its just a bit annoying that it feels laggy round town
  8. Morning all, Put an S2K filter on my BLT vrs the other day, but I cant help but notice how long the turbo takes to spool all of a sudden. Has anyone else had this problem?
  9. What RPM are you at whilst turning? Is it a tight turn too? As the power steering pump runs off the battery when the RPMs are lower than 1400, and if your battery if fubar'd it cannot supply the power steering pump with the required power, thus cutting the assistance out
  10. I don't see why people go mad when ever HIDs are mentioned on here! I have had mine in for ages now, and as long as they are aligned correctly, and your lenses are clean they aren't that bad. I admit there is a bit more light scatter with HIDs, but they are in the same locations as the halogen bulbs. These are my HIDs Direct 35W 4300k bulbs, with which I have never been flashed
  11. Although the superskoda kit is expensive, and tbh when you open the pack you will be even more shocked at the price, they are stupidly bright! I love mine, and always forget how bright they are. always find myself cursing when I pull the key out of the ignition at night. Also the door puddle lights are a bit expensive, but again are stupidly bright!
  12. Thanks again for the replies. KBPhoto, we have tried the reset, and nothing changed unfortunately. When a disc is inserted, it sounds like the laser is moving, but then restarts. Its like a spin then click, spin then click, spin then click, then the error message appears and ejects the CD
  13. Thanks for the reply guys. Yeah, he said that you can put a CD in, it tries to spin etc, then displays the error message and ejects the disk. He has left the unit to warm up for a while too, so its not condensation. We shall have a look into a software reset for the device. As a side note, I don't suppose anyone knows if taking the battery off the car for 30-40 mins or so would require the stereo code to be re-entered? As the Columbus handbook states that the codes must be aquired from skoda. Thanks again!
  14. Hi All, Posting this on behalf of a colleague at my work. He has recently purchased a 2010 Superb Elegance, with the RNS510 sat nav unit. It has been working fine, playing CDs as it should. However, it has now started displaying the "cd/dvd error" and won't play the CDs. These are genuine CDs, and ones that have played fine on the unit before. Can anyone help out please! Thanks,
