  1. I agree about the bumper foil. I bought mine thinking it would give protection to the rear bumper but it is really only a fold out warning triangle. As for the rear bumper not being painted and is only plain plastic so doesn't need protecting, our Springer has successfully put several good scratches in it so far! They can be partly sorted by bumper cleaner, but not completely. Chris
  2. Post deleted and re entered in parts for sale----sorry
  3. Thanks for the 2 sensible answers. As for other one what can I say!
  4. My CR 110 SE 10 plate 36000 mile Yeti has, in the last couple of days, started to make a noise exaclty like dragging a length of scaffolding pipe down the road on a piece of rope! It is not constant but it is frequent. I find it hard to replicate but it seems to start on left hand corners but once started it can stop and then restart on straight bits of road. I have checked underneath before anyone asks and no, there is nothing untoward down there. The noise is similar to that which some of us older members may remember when our rusty exhaust pipes finally gave way and it was dragged down the road under the car. But this noise is slightly different and is as I said earlier, like dragging a piece of scaffolding pipe on a rope. My front O/S brake disc is scraping a bit probably on the caliper but that is a totally different pitch and type of noise and is being sorted. Any sensible suggestions please as I can find nothing that would cause it. Chris
  5. Tried to use laptop (Samsung, Windows 7) last night and could not enter password for Windows to start. It worked perfectly the day before. Tried re-entering password several times but no success. Turned it off and left it overnight, switched it on this morning and it started up saying"Preparing computer for first use". It now works, without needing a password to get in, but everything, and I do mean everything, seems to have been wiped clean, and it is back to a clean system. Anyone have any idea if it is possible to recover anything that was on it prior to it's wobbly? No, it wasn't backed up! Chris (from another laptop)
  6. When I try to download the Parrot Neo update file onto my PC I get the following message "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel". I can't remember a program being provided with the Parrot when I first bought it (new) some time ago. I have gone to the control panel and opened the default programs page but can't work out what to do next. I have looked at each of the available sections but nothing is coming up that seems to be the answer. The file extension for the update file is .plf Any suggestions short of buying a new car with built in Bluetooth would be appreciated. Thanks. Chris
  7. My PC is getting full and to alleviate this I was thinking of putting some of the programsthat are not used very frequently onto an extnl hard drive. I have tried copying to a DVD/CD but the programs will then not run. Will they run from an extnl HDD? If they will run can I just cut and paste from the C drive to the new extnl one or is it safer to download new from the appropriate website direct to the HDD? Chris
  8. Ratles/squeaks from the area of the dash behind the glovebox. My Yeti 2.0 tdi is now 3 years old and has recently developed this noise, which seems to be getting worse. I know this has been mentioned before several times but the earlier posts seem to be about 3 years old now and I was wondering if there was any new information on fixing it. Chris
  9. Thanks for all these replies. They seem to be a bit of a mixed blessing so I will ponder a while longer. Chris
  10. I am thinking of fitting wind deflectors to my Yeti's doors but was wondering how they affected the visibility bearing in mind the windscreen pillars are pretty thick already. Will adding an amount of semi dark, presumably not optical quality, plastic beside the door pillar make things much worse or not? Thanks Chris
  11. I have acquired one of the lower grille covers, ready for the winter. Where is the temperature sensor, and is it solely for the dashboard display or does something else in the engine need that temperature info as well? In other words, is it safe to leave it as it is without cutting holes in the cover? Chris
  12. Thanks. Yes I know that their "air damper" is really a hydraulic damper (the springs are by definition the shock absorbers but I call the dampers shock absorbers too) but you would think a main dealer would know what sort of dampers they use. I have never heard this noise coming fronm a car, have heard it many times from motorcycle forks. So long as nothing is likely to fail I will live with it. Chris
  13. At the end of it's 3 year warranty it was service time and I had to have both rear drop links replaced as they were worn and debonding, (one of the front ones was replaced a few weeks ago for the same thing,) grease was leaking between the flange on the nearside and grease was also leaking from offside driveshaft boot. I also mentioned the stone chipped paint on the rear doors, commenting that Skoda had started putting the plastic shielding there shortly after my Yeti was made. The rear doors were resprayed and the plastic applied. All done under the warranty. Thank you Bowling Green. I had complained earlier about a hissing noise, like compressed air being released, from the front off side suspension when it was compressed as it is not really supposed the do that. I was told that there was nothing wrong with the air damper. What air damper? Chris
  14. After having had my creaking suspension fixed (sort of) by replacement of a drop link, I now need to get the wheezing noise sorted. Only happens on the driver's side, when the suspension is compressed quickly there is the sound of compressed air being released. I have heard this noise before on motorcycle front forks. Is it serious, does it need attention, or is it the way they are? Seems to be both front and rear, but driver side only. It's a 2.0 110 2WD SE TDI. Thanks Chris
