  1. Mine was also a weeks work. The remaining three weeks were the body shop waiting for the parts. IIRC, the headlamps were circa £700 each due to them being the adaptive xenon ones. They were the most expensive bits on the parts list.
  2. Last April, I had a woman in a VW Polo pull out on me and just stop in the middle of the road in blind panic. I thought I was going to stop, but the inevitable happened and I hit her on the rear driver side door and wheel arch. It was a 60mph road, but I must of got the speed down low enough as the airbags didn't trigger. The damage was both upper and lower grills smashed, both head lights, bumper, bonnet (big 'V' dent where it hit the wheel arch) and both wheel arches pushed out on the centre of the arches. There was also a bit of plastic damage behind the bumper although the front crash bar was undamaged. The bill for the repair which included the replacement of all damaged parts and a front end re-spray was £4,500. The repair centre said I was lucky all the front airbags (had a passenger) didn't go off otherwise it probably would have been written off by the insurance company. Mine took four weeks to put back on the road as they had to wait for parts from the Czech Republic as not all are standard stock in the UK. I hope you get it back soon. Anthony
  3. Mine is a 2011 Elegance in the UK. The manual I was referring to is the one I downloaded off here just prior to getting my car. I have it on my computer so I don't have to keep going to the car to get it every time I want to refer to it. It is the same one as the paper version I got with my car. Cheers Anthony
  4. Page 232 of the user manual has all the details relating to tyre pressures for winter tyres. "Please remember that the tyres should be inflated to 20 kPa (0.2 bar) more than is the case for summer tyres." Hope that helps. Anthony
  5. I use a scrap piece of wood coated in a couple of layers of an old rubber car mat that I cut into strips. helps protect the sill when using a trolley jack.
  6. I have a 2011 Elegance with the factory fitted spare wheel and it is a 205/55/16 on a steel rim. Hope this helps. Anthony
  7. It sounds like you might have the seat command module problem both me and my parents have had. I think there is a service update being undertaken at the moment by Skoda that is a software update to the command module. This fixed the problem on my parents car. On my car, I needed the command module replaced. Check with your local dealer and they should be able to tell you if your car is due the service update. Hope that helps. Anthony
  8. I have had it come on when I had a puncture in one of the rear tyres. It was a slow puncture so I pumped it back up and reset the monitor. The monitor triggered again and when I checked the tyre pressure it was 0.2bar lower than what I had set it to when I re-inflated the tyre. I have also noted that the it triggers when the tyre preasure increases. When I still had my wintre tyres on, I did a long journey on a hot day and the tyre pressure increased by about 0.2bar in all tyres which triggered the monitor.
  9. After continued chasing of my dealer, they finally recommended that I contact SUK Customer Services and complain as the dealer's hands were tied by SUK Technical Services. Spoke to SUK customer services at two weeks ago. They did some digging with technical services and the dealer. The upshot is, they have managed to convince technical services to send my dealer a new command module for the seats. Module arrived at the dealer last Thursday, but due to a business trip, could only get the car in today. Car went into dealer and within two hours I had a phone call to tell me that all is good in the land of memory seats. Yeah the new command module has worked. Picked up the car this evening and had a good play and everything appears to be working fine. My recommendation to anyone still waiting for the issue to be resolved, is get in touch with customer services as unlike technical services or the dealer who can leave a job card open for eternity, they have to close complaints within a specific limited time period so will continue to chase on your behalf until the issue is resolved. I have to say a big thank you to Tom at SUK Customer Services for giving me updates on the issue every couple of days and brining everything to a satisfactory conclusion.
  10. Gizmo68 - I have just ordered the same wheels as you. They are due to be here tomorrow or friday. I notice from your photographs that you have centre caps for the wheels. Just wondering where you got them from as I understand that the Skoda caps on my current wheels won't fit. Thanks in advance. Anthony
  11. I have been told by my dealer that there were no errors when they investigated. Dealer sent problem and diagnostic to SUK for them to investigate. Speaking with the dealer, SUK think that it may be a problem with the seat command module and want my dealer to swap it with a car that has working seates when they next get one in. If this fixes the problem, SUK will then send out a new command module to replace mine. Just have to wait until the dealer gets a car with the same module now.
  12. If you are involved in a RTC and you phone the police, they will normally fob you off and say that they don't need to attend if no one is injured. At this point, you should request that they attend and they are obliged to. I had an RTC in Feb 2000 where I was the last car to be hit in a four car shunt at a set of temporary traffic lights at road works. I phoned the police to notify them of the collision and they told me that if no one was hurt that we should exchange details and just get on with it. I requested that they attend and begrudgingly they did. Looking at the photograph you took at the time of the collision, the entry lanes to the roundabout look very wide. Based on the fact that you were in the offside lane and he was in the near side lane, the only way the two of you could have collided is if one of you changed lanes. Based on the fact that when the cars have come to rest you are both in the offside lane, it can only be surmised that the Mondeo pulled into the side of you. Unfortunately, due to no witnesses, the insurance companies will probably settle for a 50/50 nock as it is the least work for them. I would stress that you put pressure to your insurance company to get the claim in your favour; after all you pay them for this service. All the above said and done, a car is only a piece of metal at the end of the day, as long as you and your child are ok that’s the main thing. I hope everything works out for you. Anthony
  13. Have a search on the forum as I'm sure this has been discussed before. Cheers Anthony
  14. My drivers seat has started with this problem today. Does anyone have any more updates. Thanks in advance Anthony
  15. Hi Philpix I am looking at getting an aftermarket detachable towbar fitted and understand that a small section of the underside of the rear bumper is required to be cut away for it. I would appreciate it if you could put up some pictures (if you have them) of the underside of the bumper with the towbar fitted and removed. Do the electrics permanently hang down or can they be pushed back up into the bumper when not in use. Thanks in advance for any help and advice. Anthony
  16. I'm 34 but I don't think age matters when you are driving such an exceptional car.
  17. An update to the post last week. I got a call from the dealee on Friday of last week. My car is with them at last I went and had a look at it on Saturday and signed the registration paperwork. All the extras I ordered are on the car which is a relief. Unfortunately, due to me being away all this week, I am unable to be able to pick it up until this Sunday. I can't wait and am counting down the days. Will put up some pictures once I pick it up. Anthony
  18. Hi all First post but been roaming the forum for a while. Ordered my Superb Elegance Estate 2.0TDI CR 170PS manual in silver with auto dimming rearview mirror, mats, spare wheel and sun set glass on 03/04/2011. It was given a build week of week 24 (13th - 19th June), ETA to the UK week 28 (11th - 17 July) ans ETA to dealer of week 29 (18th - 24th July). The car was built to the stated build week and I have just had confirmation from the dealer today that the car is in the UK and they are just waiting for it to be transported from the port to the dealers. This might mean that I will get it by the end of the week. Here is hopeing as if I cant pick it up this saturday I won't be able to pick it up for two weeks as I am away on business. If it turns up this week it will be 14 weeks from order to delivery. My farther ordered a Superb Elegance Estate 2.0TDI CR 140PS DSG in Cappuccino with auto dimming rearview mirror, mats and spare wheel the same day I ordered mine. He was given a provisional build date of the end of July but has now been moved to the end of August. Reason given by the dealer for the change in build date is due to the DSG. Will give you an update when I get more information about my delivery date and any movements in my farther dates. Cheers Anthony
