  1. I fought the same battle successfully eventually in 2010 - it took 8 months - so don't give up. After the car had all doors repainted, had clear film applied to all the doors below the black strip and extended over front part of rear wheelarch on rear door. This kept paintwork in good condition till I sold the Yeti in 2012. The car had mudflaps from new, and I suspect that they may have made the problem worse by concentrating the muck put up by the front wheels into a smaller area. Major reason for selling the Yeti was Skoda UK's attitude to warranty claims.
  2. What about the VW Passat Alltrack? I replaced my rather trouble-prone Yeti with one of these with 170 engine and DSG last summer and it fulfils the same functions with a lot more space.
  3. Mine did exactly this. Thought it had corrected itself, then did it again a couple of days later - took it to Skoda agent, found low fuel pressure. Eventually found to be faulty fuel injectors which were replaced - I would take it to a dealer ASAP!
  4. This fuel system problem is familiar! My Yeti misbehaved last summer, went into 'limp home' mode and was found to have low fuel pressure. Local Skoda repairers proceeded under the guidance of Skoda Technical Department to replace the fuel system bit by bit till eventually (after FIVE WEEKS!) found that there was a leaking fuel injector. All the injectors were replaced and the car has run perfectly since. The garage told me their hands were tied as they had to follow Skoda's instructions or the repair would not be accepted as a warranty claim. However, as I was out of the country for 3 of these weeks and I was given the use of another yeti till my car was fixed, I don't really feel too aggrieved.
  5. I had a similar problem with an Audi I had a few years ago. It was found to be due to a flap jamming and not letting fresh air into the car althouigh the climate control was set to fresh air and not to recirculating. I would suggest that the Heating and Air conditioning systems are properly examined.

    My Yeti

Mine is also now 2 years old and used mainly on the byways of north-east Scotland. has travelled 31,000 miles, had 1 variable service, has had all 4 doors repainted and protective film fitted to all 4, and has had all the fuel injectors replaced because of 2 faulty injectors. The original Pirelli tyres were replaced by 17 inch Michelin Pilot Alpins in November 2010 and haven't been changed since - still not even half worn after 17,000 miles! Fuel consumption is a pretty constant 43mpg and no oil has been added other than at the service. The car is used as a workhorse and, I am afraid, is not cossetted like a lot of the other Yetis which are mntioned on this forum.
  7. Mine had a persistent rattle which sounded similar to yours - was traced to the rear door latches which were replaced with modified ones - cured it.
  8. Think it depends how old the car is. My December 2009 TDI 140 doesn't need the clutch depressed, but a newer one I had on loan did require the clutch to be depressed before starting.
  9. I had mysterious loss of coolant on my previous car, a Golf 2.0TDI 4Motion which started to lose coolant after about 50,000 miles. Eventually found to have a fault in the metal of the cylinder head which was eventually replaced under warranty. Not sure if there could be a generic fault also affecting some Yeti 2.0 TDI engines.
  10. See my post #130 to 'foils fitted for free' for the definitive solution to this. It took 8 months of argument to have ALL the doors repainted and standard foils fitted at Skoda's expense after the car's first winter and subsequent fitting of clear plastic film to all the doors below the rubbing strip at my expense. Result - second winter passed and no more damage. Skoda need to fit more effective protection to the lower front and rear doors as this is esentially a design problem.
  11. My December 2009 Yeti had stone chipping to both front and back doors after 3 months in spite of mudflaps from new. Eventually Skoda agreed to repair paintwork and fit foils, but after discussion with Victoria Garage, Maud, clear film was fitted below the rubbing strip on all doors, extending up the back doors over the wheelarches. After the second winter, there is no new damage. This is probably the definitive solution to what is really a design problem.
