  1. I currently own a 2012 Vrs estate manual diesel that I bought new in 2012 as I was doing fairly high miles, hence it has just turned 70k miles. The car has been faultless so far and my only issue is that I find the drivers seat bolster digs into my right thigh, so long journeys can be uncomfortable. Before you ask, I had no such problem with the petrol version (2011) I had before it and can only think it was down to not having leather on the new car. Now my mileage has come down to 12k per year I am thinking of buying a Mk3 petrol Vrs hatch, probably with DSG. My question is, what are the improvements in the car over the mk2, even between the 2 petrol engines as I had the previous version. Has anyone got the 230 and is it any good and worth the extra? All your thoughts are appreciated.
  2. Mine is affected (VRS CR 2012). I had it valued mid June and I have just had same done again as thinking of changing. The drop in 2.5 months---- £1550. Could some of that stella fall be down to this issue???
  3. Contisport contact 5 all round on my car. No issues at all.
  4. I had a 2011 petrol estate Vrs and chopped it in for the diesel version in 2012. Both bought new. Petrol V Diesel- For me the petrol car was what the Vrs should be and gave me the most smiles but the derv gave me the economy 50 avg and some of the essence. Estate V hatch- I have 3 dogs but the biggest is a lab retriever and the estate gives headroom when he looks out. DSG v Manual- individual choice. My diesel now has 64k miles on it and is 38 months old. I did have it up for sale until recently but no takers so I am happily keeping it.
  5. UK dealer will not sell it too me as I have a Skoda.
  6. Mine is the Amundsen. I checked on the discs and it is RNS 310
  7. I have a May 2012 Vrs that ws optioned with Amundsen nav and came with a UK and ROI disc and 1 with European main roads. I now want to get a disc that covers europe in detail and France in particular. First point of contact was the local dealer who also contacted Skoda UK. Apparently there is no disc and no update and their advice-- buy a Tom Tom. I am a bit disappointed (mild understatement) that in a 3 year old car my system cannot be updated.
  8. When i questioned them on charging for such a small job an the fact that a car could go for years without having wheels removed (excepting tyre change) the attitude from the other end of the line was astounding. Apparently they are not bothered if customers state they are going to go elsewhere.
  9. This dealer gave me very poor service when I took my last car there back in 2011 for its first service. I was only person waiting at 0800 to hand car over and left waiting for 15 mins while they chatted and had coffee. They had the car all day as I was at work and all the were doing was 10k miles first service. I was informed it was done at 1400 and I turned up at 1700 to pick it up. Found it unwashed. Oil over engine cover and again left waiting while staff chatted. I will be phoning Beadles at Maidstone on Monday and I will put up with my 40 miles each way. So Motorline of Canterbury, no money from me and I will not be buying my new car from you.
  10. I fully intend to change dealers even though it will mean a big drive to do so.
  11. So, my car is going in for its 60k mile service in a couple of weeks time. I have asked for the tyres to be swapped front to back and was informed that it would cost me 30 minutes labour. I asked why as surely at the main service the wheels would be off. Apparently this dealer never takes the wheels off the car!!!!!! Brake pads, suspension etc are checked with wheels on. So if my car had been serviced there from new the wheels would never have been off. Previously I have used Beadles in Maidstone (5 services) and they have never charged at the 20 or 40 service as wheels were off. Canterbury dealer may not ever see my car again thanks to their attitude.
  12. mdk1, I am using Motorline this time but all the others were done at the supplying dealer in Maidstone. I will get the MOT done, so thanks for that tip. I do not believe it is due the cam belt or water pump for a while yet, especially after recent change to that interval.
  13. I agree with everything Silver1011 because for most cars, if you treat them correctly in both servicing and driving then they should give good service. All cars have weak points and AC seems to be a recurring Octavia issue but as the car your looking at has done very high mileage the DPF should not be too much of an issue but at some point it will need changing and should be treated as a disposable part. If you budget for some items then it should be fine.
  14. Advice please My VRS CR estate (manual) is approaching 3 years old (May) and is about to go in for its 60K miles service. It is serviced every 10k miles (free services first 3 years or 30K when I bought it) and has always been done at a main dealer. There are many instances where having a FSSH helps with goodwill if there is a parts failure out of warranty so I shall keep it at Skoda, plus no obvious good indy in my part of Kent. Anyway I have asked for service plus Brake fluid Coolant Air con check (does not seem to be clearing screen as well) Any other items that members think need changing? I plan to keep car another 4 years (to retirement) and mileage will drop to 10-12k miles per year. Views on having gear box oil changed?? Thanks in advance
  15. Morning everyone, I have the Amundsen Sat nav system fitted to my 2012 CR Vrs with a slot for a memory card and now I have moved from an iphone to a Samsung I would like to put my music on a card. The music itself is on itunes and being a technophobe can anyone tell me- 1- What type of card I need and 2- How I go about putting the music on the card from itunes I hope that someone out there can help because I cannot listen to a minute more of my 2 teenage music!!!!!!
  16. My 2012 CR VRS estate is now at 55K miles with 7 months until it is 3 years old. From the handbook the limit for 3 years is 60K. My question is, Is the Skoda extended warranty for up to 5 years and 100k miles worth it? One area of weakness is obviously the air con so it should cover that if it goes. If a small part causes a larger more expensive part to fail, would that be covered? Any views welcome
  17. I have found beadles Maidstone OK but not fantastic, however I have had no faults on my car and my interaction has been for servicing. I had one service done at Canterbury and the customer service was appalling. basic oil service and ended up having to clean excess oil off the engine cover. Car was not cleaned, which it should have been. I was left standing for 20 minutes when I dropped car off and picked it up as staff to busy chatting (I was the only person there).
  18. Make sure you test drive them for some distance/time because if you are tall and bigger build you may find the seats uncomfortable due to the offset pedals causing the right side bolster to dig into your thigh.
  19. I have a 2012 VRS estate. Rear parking was fitted as an extra by the person who ordered it. I had the dealer fit the Skoda hands free kits, which works well.
  20. My 2012 Vrs came with Amundsen sat nav and the disc supplied is for UK and ROI. Can anyone recommend where I can buy a disc that covers Europe?
  21. I have a 2012 Vrs CR estate in black and after 2 years it has just passed 50k miles and had its 5th service. For the most part the car is good bar seat comfort, which is more to do with me being 6ft 3ins and the paint. Despite washing the car using my pressure washer and snow foam pre wash, 2 bucket method and decent (autoglym) shampoo, I still have paint swirls. Can anyone recommend how to get rid without buying power tools/polishers?
  22. I presently have a 2012 Octavia Vrs CR manual estate but I am thinking of getting something bigger due to 3 tall kids. I like the Superb estate with 170 diesel and DSG. My question is, are there any issues with this car that are not present in the Octavia???? I do 25K miles per year at the moment, so is the DSG reliable??
  23. I have a 2012 VRS and have the same issue with the right side bolster digging into my thigh and causing sciatic type pain. It is so bad I am going to get rid of the car. I am 6ft 3ins and not enormous.
  24. We bought a 2003 100k mile Shogun last year and the AC packed up 3 weeks after we picked it up. Repaired under Sale of Goods Act as the fault could reasonably have been there when we bought it. Middle part of exhaust went within 6 week and they did that as well. Skoda is 2 year manufacture warranty and the 3rd year is Skoda UK. They should fix it or supplying dealer, independent or not.
