  1. Many thanks to you both. That is probably why I couldn't track down a definitive answer. All I've got to do now is get the tyres swapped. I think I'll use the steels for winter tyres, Just got to find the cash. :wonder:
  2. I have a 2010 1.4 Tdi 70 ps. It is fitted with the standard steel wheels. I have a set of Avior wheels to fit, but do I need anything else, apart from the appropriate bolts? I understand that fitting alloys sometimes needs spacers, or something. I would be grateful for any clarification on this.
  3. I'll remember that for next time.. It seems I did that, accidentally, while I was cycling the windows. It seems there's a lot of these details that aren't obvious to the ordinary owner.
  4. Thanks for the warning on that. I took the car out today and found the electric windows only move if I keep hold of the switch, I can't release and have them go completely open, or closed. Got the battery disconnected just now. Giving it longer than 30 seconds to see if it clears, closer to 30 mins. Right, just reconnected battery, gave it about 40 mins. Windows started off doing the same thing, but after 4, or 5, goes at operating them to full travel they work as usual now. So if, (or when?), it happens again I will know what to do. Again, thanks to all for the advice.
  5. Thanks, Tech1e. I thought that was so, but nervous about trying it. Disconnected the battery tonight for about 30 seconds. Looked at panel after reconnecting and it was on, so much for Skoda Elmers End quoting £500! Thanks alijell. Switched radio on, it was asking for code! Then realised with ignition off code stored in instrument panel was not being sent to radio. Ignition on and radio learnt the code then worked fine. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to help, it is much appreciated. If anyone needs a used instrument cluster, diesel, circa April 2008, I have it sitting here. It is untested. Cost of p&p only.
  6. Thanks, alijell, I'm off work Thursday, ~I'll give it a try. Need to get radio code first though. Got ex mechanic at work, see if he can get it for me.. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for taking the trouble to post. PC.
  7. This happened as I was driving home five days ago. Looked down, no display. Not in rush to hand over cash to Skoda so plan is to log all trips to keep track of fuel. I'm carrying fuel can in case it coughs. I'm trying to be brave enough to see if the low fuel warning works. Should know in next few days. Will let you know. Car still drives fine. Apart from blank lcd no problems.
  8. Hi, everyone. I'm new to this, so please bear with me. Whilst driving the lcd panel showing fuel, mileage, trip and clock went blank. I'm told by a Skoda dealer that the whole panel needs to be changed at a cost of £500, and the keys will need to be re-programmed! The car is a 1.4TDi(70ps) Jan. 2010 with about 22000 miles on it. Everything else works as normal. Car starts and drives fine. Instruments and warning lights all work. Anyone know of this problem? Any help would be appreciated.
