  1. Many thanks sakta. That's very helpful. Mike
  2. I want to wire in a dash cam that was given to me (and not use the cigarette lighter socket of course). Halfords and others supply a kit. Hoe & where do I connect such?
  3. When I used to get out of my Roomster the doors could be locked with a press of the lock button of the remote control. This no longer works. To lock the car I now need to either press the unlock button of the remote control key or before getting out of the car press the unlock button on the central console, then press the lock button of the remote control (from the outside of the car) . Is there a fix for this problem please?
  4. It is a long time since I looked and or posted on his forum. Why now? Well my 4YO Roomster Scout 1.2 tsi 105 failed its MOT today ; nearside front coil spring broken and I was looking to see if this had been a common Roomster problem. However is it true that the Roomster manufacture has been discontinued and some other similar Skoda is being manufatured instead? What is that car? I see some criticisms of the Roomster here but I for one tried out just about all manufacurer's cars that would meet my requirements, including easy accces to back seats to put my then 1 to 2 yo grand-daugters in ability to carry my windsurfing equipment inside (with rear seats out and front passenger sea down) ability to carry 2 bicycles with back seats removed. suitable for a mix of mostly short journeys and some long ones so that meant a petrol engine with good economy (mine averages 45mpg) small car that is easy for my small wife to drive OK the Roomster is not the prettiest looking vehicle: half car, half van. But function beats form IMO. My main and only criticism of my Roomster is that its turning circle is significantly larger than my wife's 8yo Corsa.
  5. brad1.8T Ermm I ended up with these!!! Made in France. Slightly different from image in that they have rim protection. They run more quietly and give a less bumpy ride than the original Bridgestone ER300s. So far their road handling has been at least as good as the ER300s but I don't often drive like a boy racer.
  6. I see Goodyear Eagle NCT5 ASYM ROF *BMW (205/45 R18 86Y) at £155.74 each and the ones I ordered Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 FP (205/45 R16 83W) at £88.33 each. What might the *BMW mean in the much more expensive tyre?
  7. Thanks everyone for your replies especially greens_peace. The price of Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres I've found are pennies different from the manufactrer fitted Bridgestone Turanza ER300 tyres. So I've ordered four Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres to be fitted (new valve, tyre balance and disposal of old tyres) at £333.
  8. It is time for me to change the Bridgestone Turanza ER300 205/45 R16 W (87) tyres on my Scout. I have no complaint with their performance except a hard ride and also worry about the aluminium alloy wheels when hitting hidden potholes. These tyres seem rather pricey. So is there a more economical replacement that gives a less firm ride? (I'm not going to change the wheels).
  9. A rather late posting from me. I have a Scout 1.2 tsi 105 from new and am very happy with it . My only criticism is that is came with a set of 16" alloy wheels with 205/45 tyres. Not extreme low profile but look rather silly in my opinion and rather too easy to scratch the side of the alloys. I was sold on the roof rails, tinted rear windows and did not want a panoramic roof. Perhaps I should have gone for a SE with factory fitted roof rails
  10. eccleshill Thanks for the info. Yes my Roomster has the standard dash.
  11. devonotupia Not in my car. However the revcounter and speedometer do not look the same as in the Owner's Manual having no coolant temperature gauge at the bottom of the revcounter and no fuel gauge at the bottom of the speedometer.
  12. gatgetman I bought the car new in August 2011. I searched for the sensor. Not found. For years I have bypassed the lack of illumination by turning the sidelights on.
  13. Alex B, The car is going in for a service to WMC in 2 weeks time so if I don't resolve the illumination I will ask them to. (and I've put up with the issue for 2 years, durr!!!)
  14. Perhaps there is a control switch somewhere I don't know of that I can use to increase the illumination. If so where?l
  15. In my Scout the speedometer and revcounter are not illuminated when the driving lights are off and are difficult to read in dull conditions. It this normal? Also when the driving lights are on the illumination is not very bright. What are other Roomster owners experiences?
