  1. Hi all My OS wing mirror has finally bitten the dust, it had a bash last year that made it a bit wobbly and today I went out to it and some kind soul has obliterated it. Found one at a local scrappy (albeit wrong colour), my question is has anyone replaced the whole unit before and how hard is it to do? The replacement is the complete mirror with black triangular base plate and an electronic wire and socket. Any help much appreciated as always Cheers
  2. No its not just offers I'm looking for, I've heard of Shark but I didn't realise they did work like cambelts etc thought it was mainly tuning so will definitely give them a try, thanks
  3. My Fab is due a cambelt (and water pump I guess) change this summer, I have heard in the past about main dealers doing offers so was just wondering if anyone knows of any at the moment?! I'm in Nottm but wouldn't mind local travel or Leeds or Bristol as can fit it in with other things. Any help would be appreciated PS Mods - if this is in the wrong section please move thanks
  4. The outside bolster of my drivers seat has developed a hole, I've seen it on some other cars in exactly the same place so don't know if its the way the metal frame is designed or something Question is, anyone that has had this problem and fixed it have you just stitched it or have you put some padding in and then stitched it back up? Don't want it to just come open again after a few weeks Thanks
  5. I wouldn't get too hung up about the mileage. There are plenty running strong well over 100k. Look for usual history more importantly esp cambelts and poss turbo change. You should be able to get a decent one if you're patient and look in the private market for 3k
  6. I would have thought if someone had died on it the structure of the seat would be damaged. Guess they could have hit the windscreen or something Not nice to think about defo wouldn't buy them :S
  7. Welcome to the forum I'm no expert but I came from a Golf GTI TDI 25th Anni to my Fab so can compare. Fab is more economical but Golf was a better cruiser. Fab is great fun to chuck around esp with the brake upgrade. I believe the Fab is the same platform as the Polo not the Golf. Early Fabs have the ASZ engine, later ones have BLT engines that are apparently more powerful. Not sure when the cut off between the two was.
  8. My Dad used to have an A6 Allroad, was awesome. Not sure what you'd get for 8k but had a massive boot and was great to drive
  9. I'm 6'2 and I was comfortable in it but I do know how bad it can be if you can't quite get comfy in a car.
  10. Ever since I drove around in a friends for a couple of weeks I have always loved Lupo GTIs. VAG quality and absolutely fantastic fun. I nearly bought one a couple of years ago but bought a Golf Anni instead. OK insurance, decent economy and lovely to drive. I can see myself getting one as a second car when I can afford it. Neither are close to you but.... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201202440793806/sort/priceasc/usedcars/model/lupo/make/volkswagen/postcode/ng36hq/keywords/gti/radius/1500/page/1?logcode=p http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201203442092371/sort/priceasc/usedcars/model/lupo/make/volkswagen/postcode/ng36hq/keywords/gti/radius/1500/page/1?logcode=p Granted they are older and higher mileage but just get him to drive one (in anger) and he'll want one. Think some people on here have had them/have got them
  11. My worst car out of the ten I have owned was easily my 1999 Fiat Bravo. Luckily bought it from a main dealer so had a warranty and boy did I need it. In the garage just about every weekend with mainly electrical glitches. Was nice to look at and ok to drive but I sold it after about 6 months and lost £1200 on it. One of my fav cars was my 1998 Pug 306 D Turbo. Fab car. Put diesel in it every month, take it to local diesel specialist garage every 6 months for an oil change and just hammer it inbetween
  12. Hi Has anyone recently had to renew their driving licence? How many weeks did it take? I took mine to local DVLA office just before Christmas, they said DVLA should get it first week in Jan. I need it back for 30th Jan and getting a bit nervous :S Cheers
  13. Welcome to the forum. I went from a mk4 GTI TDI 25th Anni to my Fab and its much better, build quality, ride, performance, braking, economy all better. My Golf's CD changer didn't work, seat recliner didn't work, turbo would cut out, ride was rubbish but mine obvs had the 18inch BBS wheels Make the change, you won't regret it PS go for higher mileage cheap one, just as long as its serviced and well looked after
  14. "Never been thrashed" but then says the 1/4 mile time......lol Looks very nice and very cheap, scary how much money can be spent on a car for not much to be clawed back at sale time. Good news for the buyer of course!
