  1. Its a DSG and is a nightmare to keep clean. I think it maybe mapped already as it is surprisingly quick. I have changed the stereo to a later one so I now have Apple carplay, so the next step is to fit my Audison Bit dsp and amp and then change the front speaker and soundproof the front doors. The R600 intake has made a small difference as has a full service and new plugs. I was burning through oil fairly quickly so have now changed to 5w 40 oil which seems to have helped.
  2. So I thought I would start a new project thread as I seem to have a issue with keeping cars as I bought them. So I have owned many cars previously, Japanese, German etc however I needed something practical and fast so the VRS mk3 hits the spot. I bought the car in May and have already changed the tyres from all different tyres to a set of Michelin PS5's. Also I have upgraded the headunit to a 2019 mib2 unit, so Android auto etc. So after driving this for a couple of months I feel like the car is mapped as it's surprisingly quick and able to spin the tyres in the dry in 3rd. Now plans for the future, first a service later this week, also thinking of changing the plugs, then to fit the R600 intake that already have. After that I just want the car to be detailed and fully serviced to it can go on for years.
  3. Yes I thought that to, just wondering how I go about getting that done.
  4. I have just installed a mib2 head unit, however as you can see in the picture not all the gauges are working on the stereo but the Speedo gauge is fine,Can I amend this with vcds etc?
  5. So I thought I would let you all know what I have found after fitting the PS5s this week. So I had 4 different tyres which wasn't a great start, but I have tried a few different premium tyres on my other cars so first impressions are it drives smoother, mpg went up very slightly or at least didnt dip below 28 too much and that was mixed driving. Grip, well it's very reassuring on the corners and grip on full acceleration is much better, so overall I would recommend these tyres easily.
  6. I spoke with them and they said they can post it to me ready to go. Just need to check stock on Monday.
  7. Out of curiosity what happens if I buy a mib2 unit and plug it in, will it not work at all, and if so could I get it to work using vagcom etc?
  8. Thanks. What improvements did you get, and hear etc?
  9. This is my current stereo system. I have previously fitted many different systems in cars and my last VRS had a Audio control lc6i with a subwoofer fitted. I would like to do the same with this car, 2014 VRS estate, but I am wondering if I can fit a newer head unit, one with apps etc. Also does anyone know or have a good location to mount a 4" midrange in each door? I have a Audison 3 way component speaker set that I want to install in the future. Failing that I will get a pod. Or maybe the centre dash space. I have seen a mib2 setup on eBay for £500 but don't know if that's a good price or not? Also if I got a 5E0919605m would it work with my glovebox unit? Would there be an improvement in some way? Also how can I get Dab? Thanks in advance for any advice offered.
  10. I am a returning forum user and now have a Octavia mk3 VRS. I look forward our chats in the future.
  11. Just bought a Skoda Octavia Laurin and Klement edition TDI with DSG on a 10 plate, so impressed with how it drives. Thinking I should sell my Subaru and tune this one a bit instead. I have owned over 100 cars and had a few Skodas in my time but this car has impressed me the most. Anyway thought I would say Hi again. Wayne
  12. Hi everyone I am new to this forum, I have just bought a Skoda Octavia 1.8t 4x4, Black, full Skoda service history like new condition 2003 model. I have had los of vws before way over 10 and over 50 cars in total so I am aware of all the potential of the 1.8 T engine however I dont know much about the Haldex system so any details on max power etc would be great. I am currently upgrading my Audi Coupe quattro and have fitted the full running gear from a S2 so this is my toy, I also have a Lexus Soarer which in the not to distant future will be running in the region of 400bhp. What are the best things to upgrade first on these cars, this will be my wifes car and therefore upgrading brakes etc is a priority, I will do a remap can anyone recommend a good place to get it done, I have seen that Celtic tuning can extract 210bhp from the car in standard form, after this is done what needs to be done next. I am sure all these things have been covered many times before but any help is much appreciated. Wayne
