padi replied to Lodestone's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I had exactly the same problem and all mine was very low on fluid, stupid place to put it under the battery tray which must be removed to top up. -
Have to agree but today many think that noise equals power.

padi replied to Rwillis1986's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
If any car now was made originally with a cat then they cat should be present when having a MOT. -
Have to agree 100% fuel economy is mainly down to the right foot, all this posh sounding name fuel and additives are mainly fantasy island placebo effect.

Its all in your head.

Have to agree bigger brakes on the rear of any car not really necessary as its the front that does most of the work.

Why anyone would want a diesel exhaust to sound louder defeats me, does making it sound louder make it faster perhaps you should try some go faster stripes as well.

Try swapping the tyres around I had a problem like that once it was a slightly oval tyre.

Could be something simple like coolant level or even a faulty sender.

Have to agree but in many of today's thinking bigger more noise etc make the car faster, but some more knowledgeable know this is not always the fact, but with some its more of the placebo effect .

Your battery should have about 14.5-15 volts going into it when the engine is running and the alternator functioning normally with engine stopped battery should show around 12.6V.

Simple solution remove the spacers if then no bearing failure then that's your problem if bearing still fails then its either bad fitting or poor quality bearings or a hub problem.

The 505.00 is the older diesel engine spec, since introduction of 505.01 main difference its a more modern day multi-role petrol and diesel spec oil.The 505.01 generation gives a small level of improved engine cleanliness, and possible and wear control over 505.00 but would doubt if 505.00 would cause any harm to any regular maintained engine.

Gearbox nightmare, Mr Clutch incompetence
padi replied to mulber123's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Very sorry to hear of your misfortune with Mr Clutch like others had said be firm but positive if you are a member of the RAC etc perhaps get them to make a report. If the job was done correctly there is no way the bolts would have failed and the drive shaft come out. Poor workmanship with the fitter and Mr Clutch has quite a bad service report on the net. But like everything the job is only as good as what the person is doing it lets hope you get a good result. -
