Yes I must confess I'm not sold on the virtual dashboard, quite like the simple clarity of the VW dials tbh.

I had always intended to get a 220 TSI but it got pulled and the prices all shot up, while VW stayed reasonable. Personally I suspect internal VAG politics, Dieselgate and all the amazing press Skoda have been receiving as to why VW suddenly seem better value to Motability customers.

In fairness it's not all bad. It's a DSG and the 1.8 TSI is 180 PS, so only a modest increase on the 1.4 TSI but it produces it's rated torque output from 1250-5000 RPM, so should be a nice drive. One thing I am looking forward to is the standard panoramic sunroof.

For the last 6 years I've been a proud Superb owner (a 2011 hatch and a 2014 estate) and member of this forum. Unfortunately I'm also a Motability customer and this time around Skoda just aren't the best value, so a shiny new Passat Estate GT 1.8 TSI awaits me for the next 3 years. Just rest assured that I will remain a Skoda lover at heart, who is just driving the wrong brand for a while. I promise not to become a VW badge snob as a result. I'm just about to order my own vRS estate and hadn't really considered the Black Pack until you mentioned it. Having tried it out on the configurator, I see what you mean, it really finishes off the look and for quite a reasonable price.

Time has come to change our car and having had two Superbs this was our natural first choice. However having reviewed the dimensions I now know that the mk3 Octavia estate is almost exactly (i.e. the the millimetre) the same size as the mk2 Superb in all dimensions, including boot and interior space. So the easy choice is now a vRS 230 Estate in Race Blue. I can’t wait!

You definitely won't get the Sportline seats as they are exclusive to that model. Alcantara used to be an option on the SEL but it seems to have been pulled.

Also the DSG factors in brake pedal position. If you and lightly pressing the brake on a downhill, that will prompt a downshift.

I must confess that the lack of any vaguely vibrant colours (following the withdrawal of Corrida Red and Jungle Green) has me seriously contemplating a Octavia VRs Estate, just to get something slightly more funky.

Yes I'd spotted that. If it's true, then that's the upgrade off the list. £600 I would have gone for but not £1000 - KESSY doesn't appeal really and if I was going to stump a grand on options, they wouldn't be the ones.

Where are the main front speakers positioned in the MK3? In the MK2 they are right at the B pillar end of the doors which puts them down by your arse at seat level, which is why the upgraded system sounds better. have they moved them forward towards the dashboard now?

In my defence, I do have a silver Superb now, so perhaps it's more a case of wanting a change.

I'm hoping that the recent withdrawals of certain colours mean that some new ones may be on the way. I'll be ordering a new MKIII around July time and really wanted something less boring than silver or grey, more practical than white or black. I'd narrowed down to either Jungle Green or Corrida Red and now both have been withdrawn. Gutted

My preference, if it were available, would be the fantastic blue from the Octavia. I was gutted when they phased out Storm Blue for the Superb?

My last two Superbs have both been TDIs, because I was doing 20k+ commuting miles, but now I work from home more than the office, I'm 90%+ sure I will take a 220 TSI when I change towards the end of this year. It just sounds like more of a fun, refined car, but also one which is also capable of decent mpg if treated gently on a long run. My quandary for the next few months is what colour to go for. Love black but shows the dirt too easily. Have and like silver but would like a change. At the moment, Corrida Red and Petrol Blue are on my possibles list.

Failed to visually spot a total flat caused by a screw stuck in the front near side tyre and got about 300 meters before the harsh ride gave the warning. Drove slowly home and had Kwik Fit do a mobile replacement the next day. So when did the warning system go 'bong'? - Once I was out driving on the new tyre, when it and all the others had been inspected and checked for pressures. Also I've only done around 4k of gentle, 95% motorway miles so doubt I've taken that much depth of tread of yet. In short, not seeing the TPM system as particularly accurate or helpful. Perhaps to might have spotted a longer, slower puncture, but the fact that it didn't alert for the total flat while heading away or returning home after spotting it myself seems a bit crap, as I'm sure that if it had been a rear instead, I could have got further without realising. Anyway, just an observation.

OK, for everyone's benefit, I *may* have discovered a solution. By chance, one day I happened to switch over the radio from the MDI input before I switched off the radio and ignition. I forgot to unplug the iPod from the MDI but when I returned and switched on 2 days later the iPod still seemed nearly fully charged. I'm testing to check, but it seems that switching input before switching off stops whatever was causing the drain.

I had this on my 2011 Twindoor but it's not noticeable on my new 2014 estate. Can't recall if it started after a change of tyres or whether it was always there.

Unhelpfully I'll say NEITHER. Was dithering between these two exact colours and change last minute to Brilliant Silver. The estate in particular looks super-smart AND seems to have an almost magical ability to hide dirt.

So having established that the MDI charging weirdness 'is what it is', I've decided on a simple compromise to at least make it slightly less annoying. I've one of these to the bottom of the arm-rest cubby with Velcro and connected the MDI cable to the dock. This at least makes plugging and unplugging the iPod much easier, as it is vertical and makes it less awkward, given the hid of the storage box gets in the way.
