  1. Thanks for that. Might be over that way in next couple of weeks so will call in and see if I can see some of their work.
  2. I didn't extend mine on the golf and then the air con unit failed at 3 years and 2 months. Quoted cost to replace was nearly £1200. Someone then told me to ask the dealer for some goodwill as I'd likely to be buying a new golf again and they would probably want the air con working when I part exd, etc. So dealer emailed vw and they agreed it shouldn't of failed this early and agreed to supply the new unit and all parts for free. The dealer also agreed to do the work for free. All I had to pay for was the air con re-gas, about £50.
  3. Just wondered if anyone has used any tinters in the north east. Ive never had tints in a car before but im thinking of getting the superb done and would like to see some examples of their work first and then get it right first time.
  4. Great review and really interesting as I just picked up almost the same car yesterday 1.8tsi dsg elegance combi, but in steel grey. Like you I would of liked the panoramic roof or even a normal sunroof and the biggest regret was not gettin the variable floor in the boot. I'm surprised about the mpg. 120 miles in mine and I'm showing 36 mpg on the mfd. Mix of journeys, some local and some dual carriageways. How are you finding the seats. Im 6'2" and think the seat could of done with being another 2-3" higher. But maybe it will mould itself to me soon.
  5. Very Happy. First impressions are good, very quiet and smooth while driving. Build quality seems at least as good as the golf its replaced (I've had the optional rubber mats fitted after reading all the complaints about the carpets and upgraded mats). IPhone 4 paired straight away, 4GB SD card played as soon as it was inserted. Bad points, driver seat may take a few miles to mould to my shape, windscreen wipers are slightly noisy and grabbing even though theres plenty of rain and its going to take me weeks to get every setting just right! Been to visit the old folks and they were suitably impressed to, said passenger comfort was very good, especially in the back with the armrest down (comment was, "I know how the Queen feels being driven around in her Rolls".)
  6. I intend to. Got a week off work and plenty of mileage planned.
  7. PS. Big thumbs up to Phil Manley at Derek Slack motors in Middlesbrough. So far i've had regular contact at just the right moments, including daily calls this week.
  8. After what seems like a lifetimes waiting for the new Superb, finally got the call that the registration documents have come from DVLA for my private number plate and I can pick up the car tomorrow morning after its been given another clean and polish. Spec is 1.8tsi DSG Elegance in Steel Grey, black leather, with park assist, heated washer nozzles, MDI interface, spare wheel and a few dealer fit extra's like the dog guard, boot liner and roof bars. Arrived just in time for my first week off work this year, so going to try and get a few good days out in it next week.
  9. Documents arrived today from DVLA, so 6 working days, including a bank holiday. Now if only I could finish work early today!
  10. That wouldn't be good news, especially as i've taken a week off from 5th to enjoy the new toy! Dealer seems usually to quote longer times rather than take any flack. I.E. initial estimate of delivery 5-6 months, actual 4 months. Time from build to arrival at dealers 4-5 weeks, actual 3 weeks.
  11. My speeds on all roads have reduced. Had one of those Homer Simpson epiphany moments and realised that if I carried on taking UK Speed Limits as general guidelines for other less competant drivers of slower cars, I was going to loose my licience and not be able to drive at any speed.
  12. This is how I did it when I first got the plates. It did take three visits due to complications with the log book being in my companies name and the plates being in my name. This was all sorted out so shouldn't be an issue this time. Dealer has said that the forms were all dropped off with local office on Thursday when he got the car and insurance but that he would have to wait for registration documents to come by post from DVLA in Swansea.
  13. Just wondered if anyone has any experience with how long number plate transfers take to go through with the DVLA. My new Superb is at the dealers, had all the dealer options fitted and is now just waiting for the transfer of my private plates to go through. Dealer says this takes a full 7 working days but could be longer, especially with the new reg number out.
  14. It was, so it looks like the 5th September is going to be my collection date. Originally ordered on 30th April so four months from order to delivery, not bad as compared to some on here.
