  1. Thanks for the tips, guys, but I can knock the "wife sitting on the thing" theory. It's just not possible to fully recline the seat in the time that it happened and we tried it anyway this morning, sloping in towards the lever that lowers the seat. She couldn't do it. Nor is it the first time. Periodically we'll find the seat fully reclined but I've yet to see it occur myself. And it was the first time it pinioned a child! Anyway we've booked the car in for a check later this week to discover what the experts say. Great faith in mechanics.
  2. There have been reports on the forum about the passenger seat reverting of its own accord to a fully reclined position. Well my wife certainly never placed the reclining position into the car's memory. (There's an obvious funny joke here I can see!) This afternoon we transported my six year old granddaughter, Rose, in her kid's seat behind my passenger wife, and stopped at our house. My wife got out and there was a scream of pain and distress from Rose who was pinned down hard by the front passenger seat moving of its own accord. Luckily Rose suffered shock more than pain though I had to raise the seat up pronto. Tomorrow I shall visit the garage to complain. I just wonder if anything has been sorted out in what is obviously a fault in a new car. I just wonder what might have happened if the front seat had been further back before reclining? I should add that the problem has been with us since we bought the car in September. Suddenly it seems a whole lot more of a problem.
  3. I know this might appear a silly question, Phil, but do I have to remove each wheel in turn first?
  4. It seems a good deal, it is a good car, and the winter tyres should come in useful in your Scandinavian sun. Enjoy it and post the photo's.
  5. I paid £90 before discount for the nets. I'm now tempted to say they are worth it especially when submerged in the overall purchase sum and given the neat brackets that slide where exactly I want them. And I agree, those with an aversion to washing a car should steer clear of this colour. But with the sun on it's worth the time cleaning. Also the bright bit of chrome and aluminium are brought out to perfection by the darkness of the bodywork. And one feature I should add is the bright aluminium on the internal facia - I nearly bought wood veneer and I'm glad I didn't now.
  6. Shucks, Purplesweetie, you just have to ask. In fact I only have two more and they are not satisfactory but.... http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=g3u9kflb48l6kdm&thumb=4 http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=7z7xkc46hzj374q&thumb=4
  7. I promised a pic and here it is. Sorry for the delay. I've just mastered the art (I hope) of file hosting for free. The car looks best from the front in the sun. However, this is on dull Yorkshire day but it was on the first drive out with my new baby. I'll upload other views if requested. I'd also like to retract the comment I made above about the nets. Having used them across the boot, I have to say they neatly organise the combi boot and look impressive too. http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=m431hb7idg4x0zc&thumb=6
  8. Got a similar spec (Rosso too but black leather) and you'll be delighted. Promise.
  9. I ordered mine on the 21st December and it arrived last Monday. Now I did have doubts about the wait and very nearly cancelled. I am so glad I didn't. It is the best car I've driven and the colour (Rosso Brunello) and the chrome trim have provoked many appreciative comments from friends and strangers. I parked well away from the crowd today at Tesco to arrive laden with groceries (a flick of the electric tailgate and I had dumped my stuff)to explain that, yes it was a Skoda, and, no you don't see many of them about, etc etc. In short one guy thought, as I do, that it was gorgeous.
  10. Just had my car new from Monday and my wife's seat fully reclines about one in two times from entering the car. Thought I'd not read the handbook but this might be the same problem!
  11. For what it's worth, I've just moved to the manual 4x4 Elegance Estate and it is worth every penny. I genuinely can't tell it's four wheel drive for normal road driving. I've just given my impressions yesterday.
  12. It's too early for a detailed feedback, way too early. But a few initial thoughts. And photo's soon. 1. The car looks great in Rosso Brunello. Two colours really. A deep colour that contrasts fantastically with the chrome. And a lighter, more metallic red when the sun hits it. Beautiful. 2. It is very smooth over road bumps and poor roads. Solid. 3. The colour will need regular washing which I don't mind but dust does gather. 4. Interior with dark leather is classy and lightened by lighter upper half of interior. 5. The voice on the Columbus sat nav system drives me mad. I guess I can change her though. It's a fine system and wonderful sound quality from my SD card and radio. 6. Sorry Skoda-Man but the gears are smooth changing. 7. The electric boot is fast enough for me and a must-have. 8. I have no idea why I paid a tidy sum for the nets. The delivery driver thought they came as standard. 9. I only reached speed once when over-taking a bus on a narrow country road and when it was needed the power kicked in just fine. 10. Honest to goodness I can't see what all the fuss is about the carpets. Maybe it's a wear thing so I'll get back on this one. But they look fine with the mats. 11. The lights are spectacular on a dark country road this evening. Utterly wonderful. 12. There's space aplenty in the car, certainly length ways though it's a little narrower than my Honda Accord. Same for the boot. 13. Not sure how I'll make full use of the retractable boot floor. 14. It steers very precisely which I like. But early days. And no motorway driving yet.
  13. At long last I can claim to be a Skoda driver. Well almost. My Skoda Superb Estate 2.0 Tdi CR 170 4x4 Elegance will be delivered to my door on Monday morning and I should be able to judge whether it's hype or excellence. I ordered just before Christmas. Rosso Brunello. A few options including variable floor, electric boot, heated front windscreen, heated washer nozzle, boot net, floor mats, auto dimming mirrors, spare wheel and cuddly toy. If it's of interest I'll post photo's. I'll be judging it directly against top of the range Passat Estate and Honda Tourer, plus a tiny , new Clio diesel estate I've been running around in for the past month.
  14. And a good photo, Phil! You could take it up for a living!
  15. Just been given an updated delivery to dealer date: 6th September for 4x4 Elegance Combi. Ordered 21st December 2010. I would not have bothered had I known. I'm not a one car man by any means. Still, new plate, got my holidays in between and absence makes the heart grow fonder.
  16. I heartily concur with you about the failings of Skoda. My own order is way past deadline, also for a 4x4 and, promised for April then .... July, I suspect the car will have the new plate. (I ordered in December.)
  17. Pity about the bump. There's always a sickening feeling when a new car becomes less new and it's just as bad when you do it yourself. Glad you got the guilty party though insurance is never an easy matter to settle. It's interesting that you are an ex-BMW driver. I've come from a Honda (or will do when my new car comes) and I know of those who've moved happily from Mercedes, Audi .... It seems the traditional brand loyalties are breaking down. Which is no bad thng. And I'm pleased you like your car.
  18. Yes, lucky man. I've had to waot so much longer, the only difference being essentially that I ordered 4x4 and left out the panoramic roof that, frankly, I wish I'd forked out for now. Ordered Christmas, due mid to end July.
  19. My dealers (CarQuake) have contacted me with three different build dates in their last three e-mails. It's not their fault. I'm sure they would be only too glad to get a speedy and accurate delivery date. A pal of mine who sells another make is, however, envious of the extra sales Skoda is chalking up. I've waited so long (order Xmas '10) that I'm getting ****** annoyed. I had no idea how long it would take when I ordered and, sadly, I arrived at this excellent forum too late to take heed.
  20. Congratulations. An honest account. As a hoped for recipient of the same colour combi Elegance next month, I'd appreciate a photo. Good driving.
