  1. positives first:really friendly, and good prices. My octy vrs was a steal, and sales staff agreed to service the car etc, etc before service. Nice experience and good communication from them. Negatives: They did simply lie to me about the work they had done. 60K checks were ticked as done. Then one checked item was found not to be working (On drive home). The pollen filter was ticked as changed in the service book- not done. Air filter likewise. Also stereo was simply not working on the car, which was a bit odd. However, all rectified and some parkinsensors fitted as an apology. Overall experience was tainted by the negatives, but better than vindis Cambridge Who are closer by 2 hours, and will never see my custom again.
  2. I picked up my 07 a few months ago from a Skoda dealer, they did the Cambelt, as they had to to get it "approved" as mentioned Above (IE for warranty) Make sure they have done the Pollen filter (that's a gimme though). Insist that the fuel filter is changed, and air filter, oil, and filter (even if long life oil used) They are both due at about 40,000, and 60,000 respectively. My dealer refused to change mine (fuel and air) as the mileage was too low, but yours qualifies in both age, and mileage. They should also do the "further" 60 or 90K checks (as professional courtesy), which is no work done, but a checklist of things such as "rear washer mech works" etc, etc The service book is now redundant in terms of what and when, and they will just print out a service sheet. I tried arguing that one. However check when all the above was last done, and that may explain away why they may not do it. After the state of mine, If they don't change the fuel filter, DIY it when you get the car home. Dead easy, and you should have seen the detritus which was in mine. Hope that helps.
  3. For my money Sky insurance is always worth the phone call. I was with them for 5 years whilst in the Toyota Supra owners club and they were constantly cheapest. Now it seems they are doing the same with Briskoda. £400 on the nose, for 31 yr old, married, with a little 'un (wifey on policy also). So as a pretty good comparison the original Poster, and quite a saving.
  4. Cheers for all the help guys, all done. There is no way I would wait until 60,000 mile as skoda have suggested for a fuel filter change. At 25,000 Miles it was black, there was a lot of particulate build up, and general gunk. As a result MPG has gone up (only minor), and the fact I noticed this means it has had some impact. Also throttle response seems a bit punchier. Nice...
  5. Legends!!!! Any thoughts on the bolts (torque). Is just quite tight ok...
  6. I have checked my filter casing and it says: 3CO 127 400 C UFI 55 142 02 However I can only online part for 3C0 127 434, as BOND007 said above. Is this the same filter?? Could someone just let me know when I walk into Halfords etc, what I need to ask for. Ie; If I say can I have a 3CO 127 400 C fuel filter. will I get that practiced auto monkey blank look???? Also I have noted that someone has suggested on another link that the bolts should be tightened to 5NM of torque. Is this necessary. I have no torque wrench's, just the heads for a boggo socket set. cheers guys, this will hopefully be the last post before I extract my thumb to somewhere it can get a sun tan, and actually do it..
  7. cheers guys, i'm going to have a look today
  8. Cheers for the responses. Seems I'll have to have a look. However, when I do how will I know what the one that I have is called. Will it say on it, or give a code which a shop would know. I assume "ufi" is the name of one?? Thanks again!
  9. Hi all. Firstly I have to say Hayes Skoda Claction highly recommended... Just comp'd me some parking sensors on my octy VRS as a sorry for ESP problem after two weeks of ownership.. OK. Could somebody let me know which Fuel filter i need for an 07' Skoda Octavia 170 PD VRS Diesel. I have been told there are a few it may be and my searches of the forums have left me a little confused. If I could have the part number, but also description as I intend at this point to get it from Auto store (halfords, wilco etc). Any other recommendations / observations please, as I will be fitting it myself. Cheers guys.
  10. Thanks for that. I couldn't believe a diesel would do 60K and not benefit from a fuel filter. Just seemed basic. Cars going back in soon for an unrelated, I think i'll put some mild pressure on them to change it.
  11. Hi Guys, How long will a 07 plate Octy VRS Diesel go without a fuel filter change. Mine has just passed 30K on an 07', and it has just been serviced. The garage said they didn't change it as it will do 60K before needing one, and it has not been changed before. This seems excessive to me. Views??? Cheers guys
  12. Hi again all, Just picked up my Octavia, and well chuffed. Thought the first thing i'd do is put a pic up. However if anyone could let me know how to post an image directly, that would be grand. Keeps telling me i'm not allowed to use image extension. cheers
  13. Afternoon all, Just about to pick up a black Octavia VRS (07) from A dealership in Clacton, so thought i'd get in early and say hello to the group. I live in Cambridge, and have owned a an octavia Elegance, but took the plunge and opted for a diesel VRS this time. An initial request if I can, as I have searched and have become confused by terminology already. If I wanted to retro fit a touchscreen headunit, in place of the 07 (I think it's referred to as "Stream") one. What's the best way of doing it. I'm not bothered about sat nav, it's just the one that is fitted in the '10 plate octavia I use at work. Don't know name or serial number, it's just a CD, tuner one. All help appreciated, and I'll update with more when I actually get the car (ie pics/ profile etc) Cheers Stuart
