  1. Units with newer FWs runs much smoother and faster, especially when the maps "moves" during travellind, that was a major improvement over 27xx Fws.
  2. Easy is a bit overstatement imo. I have had my PDC upgrated to my columbus. I think if you want to do that you need a newer CANbus. if you already have an "old style" parking sensor then you dont need to replace the sensors only just the PDC module has to be fittet, on a sedan it is on the left side of the trunk (inside) you need to remove the carpet to get acess to it, need to install teh new PDC module do some wiring also. Depends if you have front and back sensors then you have to do a lot of wiring:) Also the 2005 models with F+R parking sensors came only with 1 beeper that can produce 2 different sounds (for front and rear), this beeber wont work with Columbus, you need 2 spearate beepers one for front and one for rear, so need to install a new one around the pedals, cause the factory installed is right below the seat belt. These are some pointers:) There is no solution for AC to show up on Columbus, you would need to change the hole AC controll unit, too expensive and it is just not worth it.
  3. "Currently the Unit works fine but I would like to get the Climate Display & PDC to work. I've had a look around and found that I need to upgrade the PDC controller to get that working but haven't found anything definative on the Climate Display yet, Can the Columbus also display the Outside Temperature?" It is too dificult to do it, simply it is just not worth it.
  4. What you are trying to do is, I think out of line with the boards' rule:) But to answer to your question, yes you can do that:) Most countries has TMC coverage but sadly VW is too cheap to pay for it, cause in some countries TMC is provided by privat companies. Garmin and TomTom has pretty much working TMC all over Europe.
  5. How do you do that and whre do you get that CD?
  6. MY 2005 140 PTDI has 260 000 km and so far so good:) The problem I've had were minors. Though clutch was replaced at 250 000 but it turned out the problem was not with the clutch, but rather with some small piece of pressure pipe which costs 100 euros, but the whole clutch costs around 1500 euros....
  7. The answer for your question is this in your question:) "Car was fully loaded, 2 adults, 2 kids (w car seats), almost full boot, and largest Thule loaded on roof" Those can add 1-2 litre with ease, esepcially if you have the large Thules boxes. Not to mentio nyou were driving 170 km/h with a box and you wonder why you do you have those figures:)
  8. If you want 100% be sure what unit you have, you have to take the unit out and read the label:)
  9. It should though, you should be able to control pretty much everything by voice not just the phone.
  10. Hi all, i didn't read the whole discussion but this is a problem over here in Hungary also and the 170 engines are that is more likely affected. From reading Hungarian forums the situation is like this over here: - 140 PD TDI engines were equipped with Bosch injection(PD) system, while 170s were equipped with Siemens injection system. - Mostly the 170s' Siemens injection(PD) system died, havent heard lots of cases with the 140 engine. - VW replaced the Siemesn injection system for free even if the car ran out of warranty and gave a 7 years warranty for the new system. - Mostly Passats were affected here, cause not that many 170 Octavias are runnning here, mostly 140s.

  12. This is where the Bt box is in my octavia (I think it is the same way in the superb also) Mic you already have if your Amundsen had BT. The mic is next to the over head lamps on the upper roof: This is how it should look like: The mic should be there where the guys hand is in the picture: http://www.lincah.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/2010-Skoda-Superb-Combi-Interior-View.jpg
